Are the races listed in the sheet the only options? Because I wanted to field Etrigan the demon, and he kind of falls outside of those.
Any race is fine.

So wait, examining the hydra doesn't count as an action?
There are several spells which might help here, such as Charm, Circle of Darkness, Conjure Smoke, Conjure Missiles, Levitation, and Tricks.
A successful Charm might be enough to end this encounter entirely, Circle of Darkness and Conjure Smoke to obscure our location from the hydra, Tricks could slow it down, or Levitation could allow one or more party members to take the fight to the beast.
Jedaii, would Charm work on something like a Hydra?
Hm. I'd say just looking it over shouldn't take your standard action for the round. According to the spell description, Charm works on creatures excluding undead, demons, devils and extraplanar beings 👍

Freedom City, night
Grigori:
The next morning Jameson and Thomas work out the details of his GEG contract! The corp would fund equipment, studio time, marketing, and various other expenses including personnel (management, attorneys, engineers, ect.) and day-to-day expenses relate to recording. Blackchurch would of course receive a cut of music sales on top of an initial $500K signing bonus! Naturally GEG held exclusive rights to the music and while management would handle most of the business transactions Thomas would be allowed open input on creative control. And before the ink was dry on the paperwork Jameson was on a plane for LA but not before revealing that GEG has leased a building in the Fens on Broadway and 46th where a studio will be constructed within weeks ...
Preserver:
After leaving the center Paul spends a busy evening delivering dinner in and around the city having one of his better nights tips-wise ...
Ironworks:
A rare straight flush opened the night for Jake as he raked in a table-full of cash only to lose most of it back to the boys as they laughed, argued and razzed each other over who was eating too much of the pizza ...
Vendetta:
After getting DeAndre's final text of the evening - "I'll sleep on it" - Seamus finds another task to busy himself before finally getting some rest ...

Strength-based Damage for her claws is prohibited. Just call it Damage 5 or higher if your like. And if she's part Keyptonian where's her powers?

@Jedaii Alright, so this is sort of a rough draft as you can tell. I figure I should run some of the ideas I have by you first for the rest.
The idea is that in Earth-7642 Batman still happened but the Sentinel stuff was always in the background. Bruce did try to stop it, especially when he discovered that the things were just going to be just set to metahumans/mutants in general and that there might have been some WayneTech involvement with Trask Industries at least from before he took the company back over.So - Bad News - Batman is still just a guy in a bat-themed suit.
Good News - Bruce has been in a unique position to study the Sentinels and has been for a while, so some of his tech-loadout is specifically Anti-Sentinel. This timeline's Batsuit makes a non-metahuman wearer completely invisible to Sentinels for example.
Thoughts?Yeah we need Bruce in a major way. You'll need to RP him as you know Batman. He's a determined *hole 🙄
I'll have additional info for you.

Reserving this one just in case.
@Jedaii, when you say "Protection" is Impervious by default, that means just the Protection Power, right? Toughness gained from plain Stamina does not get that, I assume?
Correct. Impervious is just for Protection unless you make another ability or effect impervious.

Also, the improved critical advantage is banned. Is it the same for the modifier?
Yup. I want rolling a 20 to be special.

You know you're in. Damn good choice 👍

What are we talking about? I wasn't making this thread but I need a few days. Talk amongst yourselves and please be civil 😃

I was thinking of making an amalgam character between X-23 and Super-Boy, where they are part Superman, part Wolverine. This would mean really heightened senses, incredible strength, speed, durability, healing, and bone claws. The reason I bring this up is you've banned the 'strength-based' weapon benefit. The claws themselves wouldn't be doing too much damage, but rather the character's strength behind it. Is there a reason this modifier is banned?
I specifically said players can't post in other players threads.l And here we are.

@Papa Bear DeAndre ended the call but Seamus can text him if he wasn't totally finished. I'm moving things forward for everyone when the call is over 😉

Freedom City, night
Vendetta:
DeAndre sighs and responds, "I think we should really see what ASTRO Labs has to offer. Seems like the best package for NuTech's future - plus, Winnie -- Winona MacLeod - is a real gem of a person. We've talked Seamus and ... I mean you can do what you want. Regarding Majestic ... yeah they contacted me: they offered me an "incentive" to convince you to take their package - but they wouldn't tell me what it was. They wanted to meet with you personally. Maybe it's better than ASTRO's but ... just doesn't feel the same, especially since bribes are in their arsenal. Again, you're the boss - I just advise. But yeah I'm loving it here. I might need a raise just to come back, hah! Whew - this wine is kicking in I think Seamus. I'm gonna lay out - maybe on the beach - it's so beautiful. I'm going to relax - you should too Seamus - you work so hard. And, when you get a chance ... call Winona. She doesn't just like NuTech Seamus - she likes you. G'night."

But there's no active ad for that, right? I saw it a few days ago but then it disappeared.
Yeah it's not done to the level of detail we'll need. Almost there though 👍

This has turned into a horror-inspired Days of Future Past one-shot using Earth-7642 (Marvel-DC crossover universe). Definitely "over-the-top" and cinematic. Hopefully I'll have interest 🙃

On the one hand, Thalgack has already spotted an enchantment spell on the old man. On the other hand, enchantment also has conjured creatures and charm, so there are options other than illusion to pull a creature. If I say in character that it's an illusion, is that enough to count as 'strong suspicion'? And does my character's ability to detect illusions figure into that?
The hydra doesn't appear to be illusory or he'd know. Mages automatically discern illusions IIRC.

And now I'm back from a whirlwind of RL, hopefully will be able to catch up on reading and be able to jump back into play. Paul just runs around schlepping food most of the time, so not much impact on the world when he misses out on things after all. :)
I'm glad you returned 😃 I'm updating today.

I could learn those systems...but then I'd never find anyone else who plays them. At least with D&D I'd get a chance to play or run it. There's also things I specifically enjoy about 5E, unrelated to investigations.
Well if you're the GM you teach players the new system. If GMs don't expose players to new systems that's how the hobby stagnates.

D&D isn't the best system for mysteries. I mean you can use it but there are far better systems. For mysteries with a semi-ancient fantasy setting, Swords of the Serpentine is perfect. Another good system is Lorefinder. These systems are designed specifically for investigating mysteries and have rules to keep magic from ruining the adventure.

Disregard that. Getting the info from in-game investigation works better.
