Seeing the archers lower their aim was at least a small comfort. They would not be attacked, at least not yet. Moving his shield once again to a lower position, the tip of Kain's sword touches the ground now, showing a swordsman at rest. Kain moves his shield to his side, and lowers the tip of his sword to the ground. "Greetings Willa, as I stated, my name is Ser Kain Dorset, my linage will need to wait. We are here not because we are from these lands, not all of us, but because an elf named Ardir Haliluea told us it might be safe here with some people he knew. That was of course before he was taken by the mists." Kain shifts in his armor, making sure he is limber and ready to move as quickly as needed. "I understand the need for caution in these times and with all the constant threats, and I would sheath my sword to parley as chivalry demands, but I really would prefer if your archers you have hidden over there would take it a bit easy. As a knight I refuse to sheath my sword while I am still confronted by a threat to my life, or one of those I protect, as I hope you fellow warriors understand." Kain points up to the area he heard movement with his shield, hoping his companions would take note and be ready of the possible ambush or perhaps be capable of stopping the ambush if it started. "But alas, I do hope we might continue to be cordial and keep to a bloodless parley, even should it seem we both must keep some weapons out and ready." Kain keeps looking around for any movement, hoping the eyes on them were human and not a swarm of undead, but either way, he was ready.   6. Perception: Nat 20! Reminds me of my old dm when I rolled a Nat 20 on perception one day. He started to describe that I saw giants above the clouds, with handfuls of colorful carved rocks, towering beverages of brown and green, and lots of papers scattered around. Then my vision went back to the world around me and I saw what I was trying to see. I was the only one who saw the "Giants" lol He used to do silly stuff like that a lot. I miss him

The past few days had been hard, the near constant moving and fighting. Kain was used to this kind of life style, his days of training to be a knight had hardened him and made him resilient to fatigue. In fact Kain's mind was not on himself, but his followers. Amelia Silver, his squire, needed these hard days to sculpt her into a true knight, but his other retainers... They were not so used to hard life, nor were they used to the horrors they had recently seen. Seeing others he had only briefly seen at the Inn Kain gives a soldiers salute to them before turning to his ladies. "Elora, Mia, please take a few minuets to compose yourselves. Just inside the walls are a few burned out buildings, Amelia please go with them and make sure the area is safe for a break." "Aye Kain, I will. Come ladies, lets take a load off and see to possibly getting a bit to eat." Amelia places a hand on her sword before leading the others into the closest building. Even without much of a roof, the stone walls would allow for them to rest a bit. The others started to mingle but Kain had only just barely met them, and was not really familiar with any of the new group. Moving into town a bit Kain pulls out a ration bar and moves closer to the dog. It looked neglected and in need of a meal. "Perhaps we can keep it, train it to help alert us of near by threats?" Kains mind wanders a bit as he approaches, crouched low and hand outstretched with the ration. OOC Movement: β€” Action: Attempting to feed the dog and see if it is friendly.   9. Perhaps Max makes more sense, this setting and campaign is meant to be very difficult and deadly.
  10. I will remain Kain then, hopefully fullplate and a tower shield is in my future! Just imagine Kain as a proper tank!
  11. If needed, I can turn Kain into the other version I made, a dragon Sorcerer. It would mean Kain and his people leaving, but more magic for us.
  12. This, this right here. I have played D&D since TSR 2e AD&D. I have so many level 1 characters I could wallpaper my house with them. In 3.5 its a bit easier to be lvl 1 as you can have (with a few flaws and such) a really decent sorcerer build for example (6d6 damage spell!). But I know so little about 5e I admit I am at a loss. Most of the interesting bits seem locked behind 3rd level and onward. Not trying to put down on this game or its choice to be level 1, just that its not my favorite thing. Hopefully we will have some exp and role play opportunities once we reach a town!

I am still interested, but my knowledge sits firmly in 3.5 not 5e and it makes me a bit unsure what to do next besides post something akin to "Kain listens to the others and says nothing" over and over again to show I am still here and interested. Not to mention we have no group leader, or any kind of coherence that an actual group thrust into a very deadly place would have formed for safety. I am trying not to be bossy and take over (even though I am playing a noble he isn't that kind of a person), so I am trying to give others the chance to post for themselves, but it does seem as though most of our group has dropped out too.

I *was* all ready to go kill Oma for what she has done, and believe me I still am, but *only* if we have a plan that actually makes sense! She has a lair too, I saw it while you all were charmed. I believe Oma, as a hag, will be down in her lair should we go charging in there right now as she must be aware the charm wore off, and as cunning as hags are, she would assume we would go after her. Kain removes the elven skull and some other humanoid bones from under his cloak, making sure to show the marrow had been sucked from them. "There were also some animal bones too, but considering these humanoid bones have been feasted on as well, its logical to think there could have been an elf or other person in that stew as well. Same for the bread, as many farmers use the blood of the animals they kill for sausage and bread, she could have done the same with this poor souls blood."
