  1. Sorry for the out-of-time post, but the page didn't update, and was working on the post for a bit, not realizing things had moved on.
  2. A:+1 | S:+2 | F:+0 | I:-1 | P:+1 | K:+0 Hope ••○○○ Stress •○○○○○ Evasion 3 Hit Points ○○○○○○ Armor 8 Armor •○○○○○ The village was a pleasant return to civility after the wild attack by the Thistle-born. Verris felt they could take a relaxed deep inhale. They had a job to do, a package to deliver, and they were certain that the group could complete the task. "I don't trust swords anymore. Too much craftwork that can fail much too easily. I prefer something not forged, but cast, a simpler task. This was cast by the young crafter Jujilen back near my home," Verris held out the mace, a simple hand weapon that was a shaped piece of iron attached to the top of a wooden shaft. It didn't have a makers mark because it wasn't completed by a master crafter, and honestly, didn't require mastery to make this weapon. But Verris wasn't willing to go into details about their life. There wasn't a short story, and the long version wasn't appropriate for the moment. Plus there was still work to be done, as implied by the head nod from Yhen. She was right, there was still more to be accomplished, and relaxing too much could be foolish in the moment. "Thank you for the welcome. It is a relief after the dangers of the road. But there is still work to be done, and we shouldn't delay long. We will have more time once this is complete, and we can share better stories when the task is complete, Madame Lausa," Verris said to the older woman. Then Verris took the lead of bringing the group to the supposed tavern, but was focused on the village itself, looking for potential threats to the group. Someone probably wanted to prevent this item reaching the Whiteface Arcanists.

The memory of the place was thin and faded. In fact, they hadn't realized yet that they arrived at Hush until they passed through the boundary, and only then did the feeling connect with the old memories. This was Hush. There might have been people that they had met earlier, but no one that they could recall. Would the people of this village remember their last visit, or would it have been so long ago that memories had been forgotten. The friendly waves seemed genuine, but no one seemed to know them well enough. Verris returned their waves and greetings. The feeling of safety was welcome, the friendliness was relaxing, and Verris dropped their intense watchfulness. This was a safe space and friends were waiting to be made. Verris approached with Ellu, only to find that he already had friends here.
  4. I always equated Session with Thread. So if you start a new thread, then you start a new "session", meaning there was a significant break in what is happening. I am glad that I did give you some Fear to work with. I haven't rolled with Hope yet. I will say that the block actions seemed to work fine, and I don't think people took too many turns. I know at the beginning of the fight, I wanted to not rush forward after the little guys and stand my ground against a possible counter-attack (then things happened more quickly while I was very busy). I thought I would avoid giving you actions until I was ready to take an action. At the table, this would be easy with a nod or hand waive, letting others know I would or wouldn't want to take an action. I'm not sure if requiring a "No Action" post would be helpful. I think the game flowed smoothly, and people who had actions took them had things to do. Which is the problem with D&D, is that when it's your turn, there is a pressure to do something. Thanks for posting the stat blocks. I was curious what low-level creatures looked like.
  5. Since this was a playlets, I would like to see in your post how you spent Fear/Actions. I was able to figure it out myself after a bit. What were the stats for the Thistle-folk? Evasion-Armor-HP Thresholds, etc. I think the combat went well. I didn't have an issue with it, and you were more responsive than I thought you'd be.
  6. Accepted the Invite. Should be set up on the Roll20 app. Just need access to the token. I decided to let others post over the weekend. Then got slammed on Monday & Tuesday. Caught up on Wednesday, and posted Thursday, as I cleared up the changes in the avatar to match the new ruleset.
  7. Yeah, total 13, which is a fail with Fear. Not sure there is anything I could do to fix that. But it seems rough to miss on a 13, since I rolled 11. Can't get much better, unless I am missing something to the attack roll. I am still updating some of the numbers on the mini sheet with the image. But I will use the Retaliation to do automatic damage since I got hit. Unless I can't because I reduced the damage below my threshold. In which case, I'd rather take the damage (not use armor), so that I can use Retaliation.

The grating sound disguised the flex of mail under the cloak. And the mace as is swung back against the Thistle-folk. Spending 1 armor to reduce damage by the armor amount (8). 2 damage = 0 HP. (Using Stalwart) Spending another stress to deal damage to the Thistle-folk. 6 damage. (Using Retaliation)
  9. A:+1 | S:+2 | F:+0 | I:-1 | P:+1 | K:+0 Hope ••○○○ Stress ○○○○○○ Evasion 3 Hit Points ○○○○○○ Armor 8 Armor ○○○○○○ Verris was slow to act, slow to move, not from inability, but from the moments it took to analyse the threats, and then choose which was to worst threat to the mission. The package. From in front of the horses, it was easy to see the Thistle-folk approach. The first few taking on the surveyors in the group near the wagon, and falling quickly. But one managed to thrust itself through the melee to the wagon. "That is not for you." Verris now moved with a speed and grace that belied their previous inaction. Hefting the heavy mace, they swung it at the last of the Thistle-folk. Their sinuous arms flexed as the mace struck home with a solid thud on the Thistle-folk. Roll to hit: 13 w/ Fear Damage: 5
  10. I'm not a big fan of battle maps with locked in grid, but a battle map that you can drag to see distances. This game wasn't built around having hard numbers, but I do understand the need to have a map so people can see relative distances. That said, I have been trying to read the new rule release, since I barely got started on the last one. So trying to read this, but there is a lot of little things I am noticing, especially minor wording changes with large game impacts.
  11. Sorry for being inactive the last couple of days. Family came into town for Thursday to Saturday. I didn't think it would as much of a problem, ut a couple of threads went faster than expected. I think I am caught up now.
  12. A:+1 | S:+2 | F:+0 | I:-1 | P:+1 | K:+0 Hope ••○○○ Stress ○○○○○ Evasion 3 Hit Points ○○○○○○ Armor 11 Armor ○○○ Hung on the back of the carriage was a large tower shield, tied top and bottom to limit the banging from the uneven forest road. On a fold down seat on the back of the coach was Verris, sitting quietly watching the road of the Sablewoods vanish into the trees as they made steady progress on the trails. The strange creatures were made less strange as the foliage also took on an altered nature as well. These were things that Verris was at least familiar with, though not knowledgable about. They could tell you what you might find in here, but not details about the nature they lived in, what they ate, or when they slept. When the wagon came to a stop as darkness filled in the forest, they expected that the group had decided to stop for the night, finding a good place to set up camp. But a quick peek around the side of the carriage showed what the issue really was. "Strix Wolves." These creatures were dangerous, and always hungry. Verris pulled the slip knots that released the tower shield, and they moved forward toward the front. The woods were a natural home to them, so Verris was able to move very quietly to the front where the horses were. (LightfootYour movement is naturally silent. Gain advantage on any Action Rolls you make to move without being heard. Spend a Hope to also grant this ability to an ally while they stay within very close range of you.) "We have greater numbers, that might be enough to force them away." This was mostly said as a measure of hope rather than actual fact. Verris sifted through their memories about what they might remember. RollRecall info on Strix Wolves: 11 with Fear

  14. Using the dice wizard, here is my setup for dice rolls. It will let you know success or fail easily. Then look at the dice to see if the first or second is highest.
  15. Would it be cool if Ella and Verris come from the same Wildborne lands? That way we might know each other. We can either be from the same community, or from different ones that trade occasionally.
