Nyx Phys [ ][ ][-1][ ][ ][-2][ ][ ][-3] { Bod 1 Agi 3 Rea 2 Str 3 Wil 6 Log 4 Int 2 Cha 6 Edg 1 Mag 5 } Stun [ ][ ][-1][ ][ ][-2][ ][ ][-3][ ][ ] For a while Nyx had just been sitting there, hearing the messages ping back and forth throughout her commlink. It wasn't like she could read them without having them play into her ear, and given the public setting (even with the miniscule amount of people currently present) Nyx figured it would be best to not risk any keen-eared eaves droppers. "I... Know what a Satyr is. Thank you. I just had to mentally note your characteristics earlier." Nyx answered with an awkward shift in her stance... Though she did reach up to feel out the lack of tusks on the satyr-woman's face. The palms of Nyx's hands unlike the rest of her body, wasn't covered in that thin layer of snow-white fur. "I... Have my ways." Nyx responded, still retaining that same back-straight, formal seated position. "To answer your question, I'm entirely blind." Nyx added on, pausing for a moment before speaking up again. "In my past life I endured a life-ending injury which caused so much damage to my eyes that it clung to my soul during my reincarnation." she finally finished, ever so nonchalantly. Nyx was momentarily shifting in her seat to adjust herself just a little bit in order to maximize her comfort before reaching out and retrieving one of the menus, skimming her finger over it then putting it back. This process was repeated until she found the braille menu, politely rejecting any attempts from others to help. "I'm dressed like this because it is part of my religion. That and it helps keep the sun off my skin. If I were to take some Zero it wouldn't be a problem for me." Nyx continued to explain, this was definitely the most she'd ever actually spoken without it being transcription on her commlink. "A lot of the times this being religious garb doesn't stop law enforcement from asking questions or identifying me as a suspicious subject." Assensing Details

Nyx said after hearing Tonight calling out to the two of them. Nyx didn't move her head to look, it seemed almost silly to do so somehow. Instead she just remained forward-facing. Still basked in the safety of the shade. "It's good to see you, Tonight." the Nocturna responded, slowly removing her hand from the Remington Suppressor tucked away in her cloak's concealed pocket. It seems as though it wasn't needed. Nyx had taken a seat nearest the exit at their table, sitting and staring blankly forwards once more. "I cannot say I am familiar with the gentleman in question." Nyx simply stated, sitting upright and keeping a formal posture about herself, both snow-white fur-coated hands resting upon one another on the tabletop. "I presume the menu here is not in braille. They rarely are here, it seems." the woman murmured, mostly to herself. Never really dropping her shoulders or loosing her formal way of sitting.
  3. Nyx Phys [ ][ ][-1][ ][ ][-2][ ][ ][-3] { Bod 1 Agi 3 Rea 2 Str 3 Wil 6 Log 4 Int 2 Cha 6 Edg 1 Mag 5 } Stun [ ][ ][-1][ ][ ][-2][ ][ ][-3][ ][ ] The much shorter woman would have blinked at the blob if she weren't wearing a blindfold beneath bangs that came down to hover just above her nose. Most everything about her face was obscured by some manner or another. Yet Nyx didn't dare extend her hand out into the glaringly uncomfortable gaze of the sun, happy to stand there awkwardly in her little spot of shade for the now. It was difficult for Nyx to really focus on Cathy, she could always try and get a sense on the taller woman's aura, but that might prove to be a touchy subject. At first she murmured something in Sperethiel to herself, then awkwardly adjusted her cloak a little more from inside. Though her adjustments were really a distraction from the fact that she'd now rested her hand against the Remington Suppressor's grip. It was nothing personal, nor was it a threat, but being blind often led bad elements to take chances they wouldn't normally. "That would appear to be the case. There is at-least one other person coming, I am expecting their arrival soon." was Nyx's chosen response, attempting to gauge the stranger's temperament and stature. "I can't tell if that's concealed or not... And there's a lack of essence in your feet... Plus the horns. Nothing organic resonates quite like keratin does. It's soothing. But you're not tall enough to be a troll. You're not in a wheelchair, you're not a troll, you have synthetic... Feet? Legs? How odd." Nyx continued on her analysis of Cathy, as if piecing her together bit by bit. Physically she was talking to herself. Mentally the Nocturna was standing in a library that couldn't possibly exist tucked inside of a large tree. Roots, vines, and naturally formed alcoves acting as the architecture. The whole thing was in Nyx's head, but the details of this person were all being recorded in a book, one to be retrieved upon the demand of her mental faculties at a later date. It even had little horns etched into the cover. "Nyx." Nyx introduced herself, still just... Standing in the shade. And still as awkward as before. "If you have any questions, you might as well ask them now. Though I'd prefer you gave me your name first."
  4. Nyx Phys [ ][ ][-1][ ][ ][-2][ ][ ][-3] { Bod 1 Agi 3 Rea 2 Str 3 Wil 6 Log 4 Int 2 Cha 6 Edg 1 Mag 5 } Stun [ ][ ][-1][ ][ ][-2][ ][ ][-3][ ][ ] Nyx stepped off from the blob-filled train, foot coming into contact with the platform beneath first. Nyx was able to avoid the gap thanks to the complete lack of resonance between the metallic ringing sensations of the train to the smothering silence of the plascrete beneath her shoe. Another pulse of the spatial sense around her and amongst the blurred blobs of variously sized metahumans (and a surprising number of rats in even more surprising places), Nyx was clearly informed of the world around her in that dark, abyssal void. Navigating the maze of metahumanity and infrastructure was just as easy... Though once she reached the exit into the sun once again, she found herself tucking her arms in as tightly as possible beneath her cloak, head shrivelled back into the hood of her cloak. It certainly would look suspicious for anyone unaware of the Nocturna's standard allergies. Once outside the café, Nyx found a spot outside beneath some shade. The café was empty, save for the two workers in the front. Nyx wasn't sure if there were more in the back, or anyone in the back. So outside she remained, standing beneath both shade and cloak, hand raised up to her Commlink as it recited the message from the employer into her ear. "Contacts. The Talkative One. Message. Record: Outside now. I'll hang about until you arrive. Better to have an extra pair of eyes. Not gonna to fish around in the astral." she said, taking an extra moment to process the detected signs of life around her. "Seems pretty quiet. I might be the first one here? I can't detect any weapons, but, I also didn't do as good a job as I'd have liked with my bindings today. Send."

Nyx Phys [ ][ ][-1][ ][ ][-2][ ][ ][-3] { Bod 1 Agi 3 Rea 2 Str 3 Wil 6 Log 4 Int 2 Cha 6 Edg 1 Mag 5 } Stun [ ][ ][-1][ ][ ][-2][ ][ ][-3][ ][ ] "Record: Are you sure sending the b--" Nyx was talking but stopped mid message to declare something in Sperethiel, backing up from the windows in the lobby. It certainly attracted some attention. "Sorry. I forgot my anti-allergens, that's all. Please carry on with your day." the message continued recording her voice as she pushed her way past some wary blobs of life. When the blobs stopped moving and turned towards you, you knew they were looking. "Just let me know if anything seems strange. I can feel the eyes on me from all these diurnal's. You'd think they'd never seen someone with a coat of fur before. Send." Nyx finished the voice recording. A brief shake of her head at her own outburst was allowed to herself before resuming the quiet and stoic appearance she tried to keep in public environs. Nyx was small by human standards, let alone an elf, so she tried to do all she could to make herself look as... Mystique as possible. The everyday mugger wasn't likely to try his luck with someone so blatantly magically able. Even if her magical abilities started and stopped at the most basic of combat spells. Still, Nyx carried on, passing over the strange, unnatural feeling of sidewalk and road alike. The solitary elf had wandered her way to a (thankfully sheltered) station, awaiting one of the many trains. Surrounded by the blurry sensations of others. "Record: Do you know if there are others? Sounds like a big get together. Something you would need catering for more than two people. Send." That was about the extent of her questions for Lady Tonight, for the most part Nyx preferred to remain quiet, she had the nasty habit of drawing attention. Though that was the downside about peacocking: Scare off smaller problems, attract larger, more social ones.
  6. Nyx Phys [ ][ ][-1][ ][ ][-2][ ][ ][-3] { Bod 1 Agi 3 Rea 2 Str 3 Wil 6 Log 4 Int 2 Cha 6 Edg 1 Mag 5 } Stun [ ][ ][-1][ ][ ][-2][ ][ ][-3][ ][ ] Bookshelves lined either side of Nyx's suite, lined with rows upon rows of books and some things that weren't books that were made to specifically look like books. Each spine real or fake, housing braille in the Sperethiel language. Opening up into a open-plan space was a lounge area in the centre, furnished around a large circular window. Like all other Nocturna, Nyx's skin couldn't handle the gracious graces of the sunlight, its UV lights causing irritation and rashes. Luckily for Nyx, however, the window had been given some generous layers of UV protection, allowing her to enjoy the natural lighting in all its beauty. If she wasn't blind, that is. No, instead of admiring the view from her window, Nyx was sat cross-legged on a sofa, one hand trailing over the braille in a tome she balanced on her knee and the other arm perched upon the armrest besides her. As per usual her morning routine had consisted of checking her commlink to see if any information about her quarry had come back and then casting two spells for her every day utility. Everybody around Nyx could see the world around her, the book shelves, the window, the furniture, even the doors and utilities. Nyx had to sense them. Nyx didn't know what colour any of it was, nor how it looked different under different hues of light. Instead Nyx simply knew it was all there. This spell was bound to her foci, a blindfold that crossed from over and under her ears. One would be forgiven for missing the fact that Nyx wore a blindfold entirely due to the obscene length of her fringe, coming down just above her pantherine-like nose. Nyx despite what her name may imply, was white all over. Not the kind of white you'd see in medieval Europe, but rather the kind of white you'd find on the ground during and after a blizzard: snow white; her soft fur-like hair coating everything bar her lips and the palms of both her hands and feet. The colouration was odd, but broken up with the light blue under-dye of her hair. [Incoming. Message. From. Unknown-number.] "Play message." Nyx said, her gaze fastened towards the window as the contents of the message was played out over the sound system of her apartment. The Nocturna licked her lips as she processed the words, slowing the movement of her hands and fingers to a stop. A proposition. An interesting and financially beneficial proposition, yet it was from a number she did not know. A slow inhale followed by a gradual exhale and Nyx slammed the book shut between her fingers, placing it carefully on the cushion besides her before rising to her feet. "Commlink, open contacts." [You are currently viewing: contacts. Repeat. You are currently viewing: contacts.] "Select message recipient: Talkative One." Nyx spoke clearly, approaching one of the bookshelves and trailing her fingertip down the spine of one. Pulling the book out when she identified it as the one she wanted, opening it up to retrieve the Remington Suppressor kept inside. The book was shut and returned to the bookshelf on its original spot. [Contact selected: Talkative One] "Record: Did you receive a message from a private number? I am thinking of following up on it. I do not desire to go alone. Send message." Nyx further instructed as she retrieved another book a few shelves down, pulling out another book and carefully retrieving the magazine from inside the hollowed out book. It was loaded with Subsonic ammunition for the Remington Suppressor, which she loaded and cocked before returning that book, too. [Message sent. Do you require any additional functions?] "No." spoke the blind woman as she grabbed her cloak and carefully wrapped it over her shoulders, it was a strange mix of a poncho and cloak with an attached hood which covered her eyes. It was a light blue that matched her underdye's blue, and thankfully, it had space for the concealable quick-draw holster she kept the Remington stored in. Nyx quickly traced her steps back to the sofa and walked past it, grabbing her Pulsewave Commlink, hooking it around her ear then headed for the front door and out into the hallway. Locking the door behind her, Nyx made her way down the stairs while her spatial sense spell shifted and reinformed her of the space ahead and around, carefully stepping past any other inhabitants she came across. 7. My combat mage (who only starts with 2 offensive spells. :') ) is done and her backstory is up.
  8. How do you want to handle touch enchantments? My primary areas of concern is: Would you allow Touch spells to be delivered via Syringe or Aerosolized Grenade?
  9. UK government approval has gone through. It's been the most popular voted poll in the past 24 hours.
  10. Honestly? I started running games on a different PbP site and after leaving it, my desire to DM/GM has really died down. I like running systems that are niche or aren't really getting that much attention, it was my main motivator for running systems like The Witcher TTRPG, Cyberpunk RED or Mutant Year Zero. They were interesting, they stood out amongst a sea of D&D 5E games. Mythweavers doesn't really have that problem of being overrun with 5E games. There's a healthy ecosystem with a variety of different systems, I don't really feel that push to run a game system that isn't really represented because there's no need for it here. It's a silly reason, I know. There's also a lack of / low motivation on my end and a general hard time finding maps that work for what I like to run. Most Battlemaps in the TTRPG hobby are tailored very specifically towards Fantasy and not so much for modern/sci-fi, which makes it extra difficult to work with.
  11. Already discussed this with Saithor, but I'll be stepping away from the Sammie/Face concept as we've a fair few people new(er) to SR and 5E specifically with similar / overlapping builds and I'd rather they got a chance to try stuff without someone looming over the same archetype.
  12. I likely won't have a stat-finished build until tomorrow, but I can throw you the chummer file if you want.
  13. Deadline is the 16th, I think? Should still be good for apps.
  14. I think that's Bunny mostly done, backstory wise. I still need to finish up her character sheet, though.
  15. NYX Dedicated Spellslinger, Memory Palace, Trustfund III, Focused Concentration IV Sinner (Tir na nÓg), Albino, Distinctive Style, Reduced Astral Sight, The Scapegoat, & Blind To be born is to be part of the Wheel. This is a fact that all souls of Tir na nÓg know. To be born of the wheel is to be set upon one of five paths. The path of the Druid, the Steward, the Bard, the Warrior, and should one be so lucky: The path of the Righ. Nyx was born into a family whose name had fallen far from grace amongst the nobles of the emerald isle, frivolous spending and partying with nowhere near enough politicking or business-savvy left them teetering on the edge of nobility. It was this same family who sent their first-born upon the path of the Warrior, to learn the ways of destructive sorcery. Yet when the bairn arrived, she was taught little in the ways of destruction. A sight that saw nothing of the physical and very little of the astral demanded lessons from the Steward, not the Warrior. So from the Steward she learned of sight, to perceive of the physical world around her. From the Warrior she learned naught more than the simple necrotization of the flesh. Throughout her time learning from those who have mastered the Path, her peers came to find their mentor spirits. Some communed with the Wise Warrior, others Tohu Wa-Bohu, few even communed with the spirit of Raccoon or Boar. Yet as Nyx continued her studies, no such spirits reached out for communion. The studious Nyx was blessed with apathy, a lack of care for the resounding success of her peers in comparison to her own short list of academic achievements; Her list of combative spells were limited, especially for one on the path of the Warrior. The chances for Nyx serving the Warrior in any meaningful way were low. Her blindness rendered her a liability, so much so that when Nyx finally started learning to harness the destructive sorceries, she was only taught Powerbolt and Powerball. The less destructive her repertoire the better, figured her teachers. Could one with no sight be relied upon to conjure streams of acids or launch comets at the enemies of Tir na nÓg? Nay, it was easier to limit her offensive capabilities, a solution concocted to protect Nyx's fellow apprentices of the Wheel. Yet those years under the Steward had taught Nyx all she needed to know in order to operate within their training grounds with minimal accidental injuries. Yet even still, they refused to teach her stronger destructive powers, citing their limitation of Nyx's repertoire as the source of her operational skill. Through the day Nyx trained, through the blisters and burning of the daylight sun scorching her skin. The snow-white hirsuit that lined her hide doing little to protect her skin from the painful UV rays. Yet none of it was to any avail, Nyx returning to the family manor with nary more than a SIN and a certificate to say she was a certified Magician under the Path of the Wheel. Years would pass by and as her colleagues served Tir na nÓg with both mentor spirit and sorceries in hand, Nyx simply tended to simple jobs for the Wheel. Tomes had to be stored correctly in the library, to ensure those seeking knowledge could find it in the section designated for their Path. One day, however, a tome was reported missing. The tome was not that of the Righ, it did not contain neither ancient sorceries nor rituals from the fourth age and before, but the tome still belonged to that of the Wheel. It still contained secrets of the Sperethiel language and its ancient people. Yet none of those present wished to send any of those on the path of the Warrior, concerned they may not return. Or worse yet, flee with the Sperethiel secrets to teach their ways of old away from the isles of na nÓg. So a proposal was arranged. Nyx's parents were offered a path to redemption amongst the nobility. The price? Nyx was to follow the thief into the Miami Sprawl. To follow the thief and strike them down in the name of the Warrior, to enact justice upon a pest most foul. And so it was, Nyx was headed for Miami. The mentors of the Warrior granted Nyx five gifts to aide her on her mission: A focus in the form of a tome, Sperethiel texts printed in braille and the cover emblazoned with the symbol of the Wheel. A blindfold, upon the front of which was the symbol of the Warrior. The materials for preparing her lodge upon foreign soil, and a regular income to support a High quality lifestyle. Courtesy of the nobility; for it was in their best interests to see the stolen tome returned. Contacts Contact Name Metatype & Age Occupation Relation to Nyx Seeker Old Female Elf Talismonger Her original contact from Tir na nÓg in Miami. Seeker introduced Nyx to Pharma. Boland Middle-Aged Male Human Mafia Consiglieri A member of the Irish Mafia who put Nyx in touch with Spider, Boland has repeatedly expressed interest in recruiting Nyx into the Irish Mob, as a means to bring about a false air of legitimacy about the organization. Pharma Young Female Elf Smuggler A Miami-based smuggler whose name came about from their preferred product: Pharmaceuticals. Spider Young Female Dwarf Mr. Johnson A dwarf who sees the world through the eyes of her drones, Spider is Nyx's primary contact for everything a Johnson is required.
  16. Finally settled on a concept. Is the nuyen rewards going to be enough to support a High Lifestyle? Got a character concept in mind (Gunbunny Streamer-type, high AGI, high CHA, lives with a wheelchair-bound twin).
  17. There's actually a system pretty similar in concept to this called Brinkwood though it's vampire-centric. I recommend checking it out, cool stuff.
  18. I think rather than getting caught up on the animal - human years, maybe just focus on the metahuman age and sorta ballpark it for the shapeshifter form. It gets significantly less messier that way.
  19. Rate of Fire = Damage, Edge is now used for... Basically everything, Mages have Rigger rules for making spells, which is kinda awesome, but like, magic was super broken before and now it's even worse, 240 page errata that cost $20, "Argle bargle foofaraw, hey diddy ho, nobody knows" in some lore that we already know b/c Catalst Games Labs didn't want to pay editors, So, so much more that I know I've forgotten. IMO CGL wanted to cash in on the podcast/actual play scene via simplification as most actual play podcasts site Shadowrun as being 'inaccessible' for a show or requiring too much homebrew / custom ruling. The issue with this is that the 6th Edition rules were so poorly written and so hastily published, that the longest R.A.W actual play I've seen of 6th Edition when it released, lasted 3 episodes before being canned due to how nonsensical and self-contradicting the new rules were. Entire sections and pages were chock full of placeholder text. Last time I ran a SR game it ended in disaster and a bridge with a different PbP forum being burned*. I think that's a sign as much as any that I shouldn't be running the game. ;) *(And b/c I'm absolutely schizo paranoid, just in case any of those folk come sniffing around here, yes I know that silly 'no u' joke wasn't the reason for my SR game dying and that was entirely my beef with the admin team.)
  20. It's honestly fine, I'd rather we didn't make such a fuss over something as niche as SURGE. I might just have to ditch the CHA-tradition and go more for a Elder God approach, which, would make this aesthetic pretty basic as most might misconceive it as everyone's favourite R'lyehian sleepyhead. I'll figure somethin' out. An alternative could be to treat Surge II as Surge III though that might be a little OP in some respects. Could always just check the list of mutagenic qualities and determine it on your end as DM. It's rare I take the full 30 karma worth.
