Aerith pulls some bones out of his bag, resembling a small bird which should help with observation. As he focuses the energy he speaks. "Rise now songbird, blessed by your master with eyes of an eagle. Keep watch for us so we may be safe." It looks like he's doing well, but at the end the spell struggles to form, locking power with the natural inertia of death. "well... that isnt good"

And if damage is what he wanted, then if it's as if the gods themselves set aside whatever they were doing to make it so. Aerith's ring sucks in light around it as he charges up a ball of shadow. The troll looks at aerith with mortal fear in its eyes, knowing the wizard is about to strike it down hard. It tries to charge at the mage, but every step is blocked by The Curse of Skeletal Caltrops. It tries to outmanouver them, but it's hard when it's Dazed by Lightning and Paralyzed. it's Pushing through the pain already trying desperately to do anything to to save itself. In one last ditch effort to cling to life the troll rips a rock out of the ground to use as a makeshift shield, but fate was not on its side as the curse of Arcane Frailty made it slow to do so, the rock being lifted just AFTER the troll was pelted in the face by a blast of shadow, collapsing to the ground with [boost:] a face no more. Aerith breathes a sigh of relief, dismissing his many spells as he walks over to the beast, the dark smoke dispersing to reveal a clean skull, then looks to the others and asks. "I wonder if this troll would make a good bodyguard for us?"

Luckily the troll isn't exactly in top fighting ability as the Pained Eye causes it to have diffucilty seeing its target. The troll's tree comes within less than a meter of aerith's face before it stops short as a muscle spasm halts the swing, due to the troll being Dazed by Lightning. [Boost Pained Eye No longer Exists, Invoked Dazed by Lightning]

You'll be good to carry the bulk of our stuff right?" He casts the spell and grafts some wide-spanned skeletal wings on the back of lyra, with skin pulled over to make them resemble those of a bat, creating the advantage Fleshwarp: Bat Wings. Afterwards he does this to everyone else as well.

He charges the needle with the nectotic energy and sends it out towards the troll in a dazzling attack, aiming right for the eye of this beast. The needle hits its mark as the troll instinctively flinches, far too late as the splinter still landed, and gave the beast a Pained Eye [boost]

It's at this point the necromancer realizes the irony of this job, but decides that being in the same room as the guild leader is the wrong place to point it out. "He's working with orcs, we need to sneak around them instead of fight so they don't report to their master and make a bigger problem. It's just a recon mission."

The bones rise forward far more numerous than arcane frailty, seemingly rising under the troll as he steps. Aerith focuses on the troll, placing an astral mark on the foe for the spell to track, erupting a Curse of Skeletal Caltrops to interrupt its movement and make it constantly watch its steps. The caltrops strike hard and, in conjunction with Oleanna's lightning blast [spending the invoke] the caltrops fall exactly where they need to. Aerith didn't just succeed in slowing this thing down, he succeeded with style.

"Woe be upon ye, let your muscles grow backwards and your bones turn frail, weakness spread through your veins and into your very soul." As he says this, the ground underneath the troll quivers, and a rodent's skeleton erupts from the mud, then through the water, and finally floats to the surface, one of its ribs glowing with dark-red energy as it cracks off and flies towards the beast. It will barely hurt at all, the force is only that of a splinter, but the real danger is the curse placed upon it which would be injected directly into the monster. This curse will inflict Arcane Frailty to the beast, if only it lands.

"Let negative energy flow through the charged rapier of Olenna, that she may smite whoever would strike us down" and with that aerith takes a small knife out and pricks his arm, the crimson flowing like smoke through the air and attempting to bind to her rapier, creating the Dark Smite of the Necromancer aspect, well trying to at least.

The physical body barely mattered to either him or the spirit, but it was nice to pretend, at least, that the dog had any permanence. He picks up the skull and walks off, leaving the other bones to who might want them. He'll need to get shigami an almost entirely new body anyway. "That troll up ahead will be an issue though, and the marshlands hold dark energy within them. There's a reason they're blighted, after all." He shrugs "Ultimately the choice is up to you all, I'm not the best at navigating either."

The undead hound growls at the wolves attempting to draw their attention as his head then snaps to the biggest one there and lunges jaws agape to bite it out of existence. The good boy tries his best, but unfortunately cannot overpower the wolves, instead fighting them off as an arcane-reanimated equal. [invoked boost to tie].

Aerith bends down and pets the doggy, putting a paw back on that fell off before the help. "Whatever you did earlier to help me put him together, thank you." He then gets up and looks over at vahn, the echo spirit of his master projecting out from behind him. "I joined hoping to enter a tower too, the tower of athena. Normally I'd just be at home studying waiting for my master to come back from another adventure, but his last one he didn't come back. Not in one piece anyway..." He looks over to the spirit, floating silently and projecting itself in the shape of a mighty sage. Anyone who knows a bit about the tower's great heroes would recognize the ghost as Markov, a powerful necromancer who likely died near the top of the tower, or at least near the top of the parts that people went in to. "I hope you all aren't put off by the dead, these two won't hurt you, I promise."

"I put in a couple hours at the library we're doing this for, they had a few tomes on the wilderness out here and I was able to condense it all into this list of notes. It's not everything we'd need, but its about as much as I could fit without running out of time." He pulls his book out to show everyone his Notes on the path ahead. He notices the fox but doesn't say much for now. His wizard eyes see spirits all the time, after all he is "haunted" by one, and he learned the hard way to leave most of them alone unless you have business to do, or you know for a fact they're friendly.

Active Aspects?: Malformed Shigami [???], Notes on the path ahead [2x free invoke] Aerith returns the last of his books and thinks things over. "While the Steppes sound like the safe route, he doesn't have anywhere near the stamina needed to cross. He's dealt with his fair share of swamp before, though, and it's far easier to work around quicksands or a sleeping troll than scaling deep canyons without the magical disciplines needed to help me up those walls. Master died before I learned to teleport, and I can't exactly control the wings fleshwarp could put on me that well... The swamp needs backup, and someone that can sniff out where trolls are, as well as walk ahead to spot quicksand. Oh, I know!" With the castle walls now behind him, aerith goes outside and throws down some assorted bones before finishing it off with a canine skull and begins reanimating. "Rise lupine wonder from the pale beyond, gain your footing again to serve your master. We have monsters to hunt and you shall be the hound to do so." The bones begin to rise and reanimate into the shape of the one, the 'only', shigami. Aerith notices that something isn't right. Shigami's leg is still on the ground and he's acting... stiffer... than usual, even by the standards of piecemeal bones vaguely shaped into the form of a dog with magic many churches would certainly hate to witness. "You alright buddy?"

He heads to the geography section to read up on the lands he'll travel through while waiting for the others, interested mostly in the local threats that would get in his way. While most would lose interest and slip while pouring through tome after tome for trivial information, this was Aerith's bread and butter. After all, it's how he learned the magic which practically defines him, along with his now dead master. The once blank parchment is now filled with notes on all the information he could find while waiting for the others to arrive, and he hopes it will prove useful.
