  1. Book One: The Scouring of Gate Pass Act Three: Escaping The City The caravan seemed to purposefully speed up as the group tried to get their attention. It seemed partly like they didn't want any part of local disputes, and were exhausted from the battle at the moment. Before the guards could either back down or keep pressing you, the face of one of the men in front of the group turns pale. Following the man's eyesight reveals that one of the guards trying to flank you now has a greatsword protruding from his chest. A brown-haired man steps out from behind the man, viciously slashing at his partner. He yells at the group, "Quick, follow me! I know where to go!" With that, he turns to start heading down an alley. 2. Book One: The Scouring of Gate Pass Act Three: Escaping The City The man who has been doing most of the talking calls back out to the group, but his confidence seems to be a bit shaken. "Listen here, Captain. I don't need all of you! I just need the mongrel woman, and the other pointy-eared fellow to come over here so we can ask them some questions. I'm just following orders, the REAL question here is what are you doing with magic-using spies?" Just as he finishes talking a caravan begins passing behind them. It appears to be a prisoner caravan approaching from the west, heading for the central district. A dozen soldiers escort a pair of wounded and bound orc soldiers wearing the uniform of Ragesian infantry; scale mail, a red tabard with a half-crescent fireball on the chest, and a heavy winter coat of bear furs. One of the orcs glances at the party through his one good eye, the other half of his face scarred from an old burn wound. As the convoy marches by, the guards become subdued. One half-heartedly congratulates the soldiers and gets spit upon by the one-eyed orc for his trouble. He angrily wipes the spit from his face, and the group looks back at the party, still expecting you to comply with demands. Show Active Maps Loot
  3. Book One: The Scouring of Gate Pass Act Three: Escaping The City Two guardsmen stop out in front of you, while four remain behind. One of the men in front of you calls out. "We have been sent to take two of you in for questioning on suspicion of being magic users. Please do not hinder our investigation. We know who you are Captain and are not looking for any trouble from you. We would like to do this peacefully. Will you come along?" They appear to be ready to wait for your response instead of just directly attacking. DC 14 Perception Someone appears to be following the guardsman that are following you. Show Active Maps Loot
  4. Aron made his break for the platform, but as the two new creatures rounded the corner he knew he wasn't going to get there in time. He saw one of them lower its head, and direct its antlers in his direction. He turned towards the platform and lept as hard as he could. Aron had little hope that he would avoid the attack, all he hoped was that it might be mitigated a bit by his leap. Aron turned out to be very wrong. The antlers crashed into him as he barely got off the ground, and sent him hurtling toward the platform at an incredible speed. He thunked against the edge of the platform, barely able to gab on, he managed to drag himself over the edge. His ribs felt like they had been, well, hit by a giant undead antlered creature he supposed. He couldn't tell if it was the actual hit, to the smashing into the platform that caused his pain, but it also didn't matter much at the time. He called out to Gert. "I'm here to help, I think."
  5. The door opened easily from this side of the tunnel. In the basement, two men waited for your arrival. One of them was easily recognized, Audorin, was there chatting it up with another man. Their voices seemed unconcerned and the conversation seemed mundane. The girl ran to the man hugging him and calling it out in a girlish voice for the first time. "DADDY!" The man turned to face the group. He was wearing a mask, the mask was a face that somehow resembled the ace of spades. He had thick black hair, and appeared to be human, he was short and stocky, but there wasn't much else you could tell about him from just a glance. Audorin waived for you to come closer. "I Told you they would do it! Never had any doubt!"
  6. Aron watched as they shoved the death rabbit over the edge of the cliff, his eyes going wide. "Why would you do that?! We should have grabbed its horns or something! Do you know what kind of story that would have made? " He did not, however, have any objection to the thought of running away.
  7. Book One: The Scouring of Gate Pass Act Three: Escaping The City The walk from the councilman's odd house to the guard barracks is longer than it should be due to the winding nature of the streets in this part of the city. For the first time in the last couple of days, some of the city appears to be coming back to life. People in the city are walking around, there is activity, and it seems like things could almost be normal. The winding paths take you through some narrow alleys that offer some privacy, and also a good idea if anyone might be tailing you. It is also a good time to catch up on any talk that might be important. DC 9 Perception (Click if passed then roll an Investigation check if passed) You are being followed by 6 guardmen. DC 11 Investigation If passed Those are not real guards. Just thugs in disguise. Show Active Maps Loot
  8. Aron had never once in his military or hunting career fought a giant horned rabbit. However, something he knew about most animals is that head wounds bled a lot. So, he gripped one of his knives and hurled it just above the creature's eyes, hoping the flood from the wound would create an advantage for the group. The knife found its mark. As he threw he called out to the others. "I thought we were going to talk to it first..."
  9. Book One: The Scouring of Gate Pass Act Three: Escaping The City Olvyn entered the room with an odd look in his eye. He offered the group a small smile and seemed ready to say something before Erdan followed him into the room. Erdan immediately began talking before Olvyn had his chance. "Now that this is all settled, the rest of us can complete our business. The council needs Olvyn here. He will be staying behind, and in turn, we will keep him safe if things get any worse here. " Olvyn gave a small scowl to the man for interrupting him before quickly speaking so the man could not interrupt him again. "The current council is decimated. Erdan does not think he has the votes from the rest of the council to keep the Ragesians at bay. I will be posing as one of the slain councilmen for some time." He turned to Anne. "I must do what I can to protect the city, even if it means I must be parted from you yet again." Erdan nodded, clapped, and then handed Iymbryl a thick envelope. "Take the items you have selected as gifts, but you must promise me that you will find aid for the city once you leave. We will not be able to stand forever against the might of the Ragesian forces, but we can stall them long enough if help is coming." He pointed to the envelope. "Inside are three things that must be delivered to Captain Herreman. He runs a small calvary detachment that patrols the southern border. You will find him two districts to the east near a large stable. There is a barracks there where he and his men currently rest. The first letter inside is from me to Captain Herreman explaining the situation and giving him the same instructions I am about to relay to you. The second paper in the envelope is an official order for them to patrol the roads to the south, but the normal count of his men is inflated by four. The third paper is also an official order giving them permission to come back to the city through a different gate, with their normal count of men on it. Any quiestions?" Erdan is smiling at the party as he explains his plan. Show Active Maps Loot
  10. The answered Glanton first, "No, I was not with my father. I was looking for something in the basement, and those men came out of the secret passages. I didn't even know they were there!" As everyone started walking, the girl did as well, seemingly content that you would not be hurting her. She responded to Olive as she walked. My name is Alessandria. The old man you speak of seems to be my father's business partner. His name is Audorin." You continue up the stairs and find yourselves just before the opening to the basement that you started at. The door seems closed, but from this side you can see some light streaming in from around the door's seams. From this side, there is a clear lever on the right of the door.
  11. Spending a Fate point on this stunt to apply "Shot in the eye" Called Shot: During a Shoot attack, spend a fate point and declare a specific condition you want to inflict on a target, like Shot in the Hand. If you succeed, you place that as a situation aspect on them in addition to hitting them for stress.
