You understood the point and answered everything. The only misunderstanding was in regards on the meaning in which I used the term yakuza. I merely employed it an easy to recognize word to avoid asking the long version - is there organized crime syndicates and are they in their initial stages (as corrupt militia) or already on the gambling/trafficking/prostitution/hired killing stage. The mention of festivals is tied to the initial stages of organized criminal activity through History, that starts with security and evolves to placement administration in festivals (the one who paid the criminals better got the better places for their stalls). All my questions answered I just want to mention that the colocation that yakuza is a Japanese concept is not exactly correct. The concept of the yakuza is just that of organized crime with adoption of consuetudinary practices of its time and place of origin. What is exclusively Japanese is just the name, that comes from mixing different readings of the numbers 8 (ya), 9 (ku) and 3 (za) which make the losing hand on oichokabu which was one of the most common gambling games used by the aforementioned syndicates in their gambling houses during the Edo Period. The bad hand on the game became synonymous with the bad guys with the game. Though there is also some peotry in the fact that most of the yakuza were also royally screwed by the social condition they had on birth, being the ones handed a bad hand by fate. I always enjoy when someone mentions linguistic variety. Even today China and India have a number idioms and they are far from the only place in the world where it happens. Anyway, rambled about History and Linguistics too much. -

It seems I expressed myself badly: the "they" in the question referred to the dwarves, not the dread elves. Yael fits so perfectly to my idea. It may be good to list which domains each deity has, for players interested in applying Paladins or Clerics. Side note, Nulia made me consider another concept for Grave Domain because she really remembers me of Kelemvor, which is my favorite FR's deity (specially before he decided to become overly cold). Are the merchants badly viewed in Gaellya? Is there already a yakuza analog there? If so would still be on its merchant protection and festival location control days or would it already stepped into oichokabu gambling? At this point I feel like I'm bothering with my questions, but here goes another lore related: are there different languages in a same race (Randorians and Gaellians speaking different idioms beyond common, for example)? -

I admit that I'm half surprised the Dread Elves are not the Shadar-Kai (that are described as elves between life and death in Monsters of the Multiverse). In regards to the dwarves: Are their the PHB version or the Monsters of the Multiverse version? How does the fact that they live underground impact the believe on deities that fundamentally personify celestial bodies? By the way, what subraces of halflings are acceptable? I can imagine they extracting power from the words themselves and not necessarily from the music (which would fit with the Eloquence subclass). On the vanilla DnD they are just studying to reproduce the music of creation which is another case of WoTC taking from Tolkien. I'm considering three character ideas and one of them is Twilight Domain cleric that doesn't doubt the existence of the gods but doesn't worship any of them. He is dedicated to help others/fight spawns of Izul and asks and receives divine power because his actions are useful to the gods. Is the concept acceptable? Does Yael provides said domain? Regarding Gaellia: Could tell me more about the workers and the non-people? Are there any slaves there? Does the Gaellians have mechanically the same racial traits of the Randorians? Does clan conflicts still happen there? -

Man, getting info from Voldemort is not cool. Ok, terrible joke aside that is the result of too much less than useful knowledge and a bit of free time. Apologies if I missed the answer somewhere but I'll repeat my last questions: what would be their equivalent of allowed races on the rulebooks and what subrace are the dwarves of the scenario part of. Speaking of the dwarves, to they have a different pantheon? Might I suggest that the item 11 of the Q&A be changed to "what races are allowed in the game"? New questions: There is a class in one of the allowed sourcebooks that was not mentioned in Classes of Zerathan, the artificer. How does it fit in the scenario? Is it not allowed? Is magic in the scenario like in the official DnD scenarios - the result of manipulating an external energy? (In the official lore said force is The Weave, kept by the goddess of magic). Is a bard limited to use magic through music? Is true faith a necessary component to become a cleric or much like in the official settings clerical powers can be bestowed by the will of a deity, be it as a result of a promise or even without the mortal's consent? Is multiclass allowed in the game? -

There are two versions: Volo's Guide to Monsters and Mordekainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse. Both have a pletora of other races so you may prefer to just mention which version of the race is allowed rather than allowing the entire book. -

Vasile of House Iliescu Character Sheet | Health Perfect | Blood Pool 20/20 | Willpower 5/5 When he was a boy Vasile thought, the same way many did, that traveling was synonymous with adventure like those of tale and song. Time and experience had taught him otherwise. Most of any journey is dull, to say the least. Hours and days of watching little more than the way before a mount. A little scouting here and there before a camping, when one has to camp. The mortal body soon begins to ache in response to the bumping of the road and it was unwise for one to speak much atop of a horse. Sweat and dust take hold on the clothing and the only events to be had were the attack of beasts and bandits. Unlife had freed him of most inconveniences, and he had fight through enough ambushes and bad weather to enjoy the monotonous tranquility. The fear of the kine was the first indicator that they understood the nature of the coterie. That remember him of Drobeta. He was surprised to learn that there was no room on the tavern. βIf we find the same situation on the next village weβll need to badger either way, but with far more urgency.β He commented to Nezira. βIt may be more prudent to try our hands at diplomacy. Well, bribery, actually. We enter the place, shake a couple of coins in one hand and ask loudly if there is nothing we can do to get a room.β This would also send a couple messages β they had enough funds to spend lavishly, they didnβt gave up on their whims and they didnβt resort to violence first. βSuggestion made, I have to admit that I am not the most indicated to work the persuasion. -

The Astral elves remembered me of Witcher's Aen Elle and the creation of the works took me right under Isengard.. Izul remembers me of the Tarrasque lore with a pinch of Ymir. That said I need to ask what races are playable, what would be their equivalent on the rulebooks and what subrace are the dwarves of the scenario part of. Speaking of the dwarves, to they have a different pantheon? Holding on asking about the elven deities. -

*Sees the image of a good hunter arriving at Cainhurst.* You definitely have my interest. I also like the ASOIAF stylization of the noble houses, though the fallen elvish empire name being the word for Greece in most romance languages may be somewhat immersion breaking. Vampyr's name have a similar effect because of the homonymous game. As Grudge asked the more technical questions I would like to dive more in the lore: What is Randor? A region, a country or a continent? What is the name of the world how many ages it had (in terms of the general knowledge that an average individual of the world would have)? How does Leoric looks? Is he clearly of any given race? How are half-elves seem in the society of Kaledor? Are there any half-elves in the noble houses? Do the noble houses have holdings outside of Kaledor or venture outside of the city (be it for vacation or any kind of work)? What are the notable regions/countries/cities that trade with Kaledor? Are there other races in the world/scenario besides humans, elves and dwarves? What is the technological level of the scenario? How is the pantheon of the scenario? -

Vasile of House Iliescu Character Sheet | Health Perfect | Blood Pool 20/20 | Willpower 5/5 The eyes of the old Dragon spoke to him of approval. As always, Ilie was satisfied to see proper manners followed. It was not goodness, Vasile knew. If anything it was akin to a kennel master watching one of his beasts following its training. When the servant arrived childe looked to sire and was told in the silence of a nod to go. Iliescu didnβt question the oldest of his forefathers, but his mind could not help asking why the Voivode was there if he was not meant to accompany them to the meeting. A show of power from the lord of the castle? If that was the case then this patron to be was not simply capable to move kindred of the sixth generation, it was more powerful than them. Maybe stronger than older generations even, he pondered looking at his companions. At that point he wouldnβt be surprised if their blood was more potent than his. βThe Carpathians are Tzimisce land so at some point we are likely to deal with Garou, Power Mongers and Usurpers.β He started after his traveling companions. There was disdain and familiarity in his voice. βThings I would have fought one way or another, but without the reward milady offers.β The reward he always wanted and that he was sure would ultimately benefit Lucretia mora than himself. A price he was willing to pay for his wishes. βThings that make me want to know how much time we would to rising defenses and how long would it take to reach the closest allies.β He then turned to Nezira. βOn regards to ability I can only say the opposite of what you did. I would be of more assistance in military endeavors than logistics.β Specially if such endeavors involved having he take to the field. βI could deal with anyone disturbing the order.β Body Crafts and Vicissitude would make it easy to get confessions and make examples, but that much he thought better left unsaid. βMy family name is likely to make for a believable tale for the kine - a Transylvanian noble sent to develop land given to his House and I can play this role. My subordinate is both merchant and information gatherer, a good point to start rumors and attract trade. Besides that I echo every single one of your points.β -

Vasile of House Iliescu Character Sheet | Health Perfect | Blood Pool 20/20 | Willpower 5/5 The figure of his sire there, in a courtyard, suggested talks would be brief and they would be expected to move, leave, soon enough. That much was no surprise. Someone capable of asking favors of a kindred such Ilie should easily deal with domestic trouble. Everyone approached their elders and Vasile did the same, bowing his head before the Voivode. βMy lord.β He said with no warmth in his voice. Words and action told the keen observer that they were no two friends meeting. There was mutual respect, sure. Formality even. But they were a lord and his sworn warrior. βI hope the travel here was not too terribly inconvenient.β Vasile wanted to ask more than a few questions, but he knew Ilie would point that is the master of the castle that should answer them. The man was that prone to formalities. It shouldnβt take long, the younger Fiend thought noticing the guide leaving them. Heβs going to call the patron. It was the only logical conclusion. Alas, if the prophet at the entrance was something to go by, maybe he shouldnβt expect much logic in whatever was bound to happen. He looked as his travelling companions and their sires for but a moment. Enough time to ponder if they were as old as his ancestor. -

Vasile of House Iliescu Character Sheet | Health Perfect | Blood Pool 20/20 | Willpower 5/5 Vasile genuinely thought the meeting would happen there, at the inn, and was genuinely surprised when the guide appeared again. The way to the Castle Hill suggested that their patron was also the ruler of Budapest or at least so close to said ruler that it wouldnβt make any difference. Whatever the case, it was likely that any promise made not only to their sires, but to them directly, would be fulfilled. A good omen for the start of the journey. The crossing was a silent affair for him, ended by words that he could not help but find strange. The Tzimisce was not used to playing big parts in anything for it is usually the army, not the lone soldier, that made difference. He had no idea about who Zolot was and understood only that the not so merry group was about to find its elders. Unsure about what to do, he simply bowed his head, as if thanking the strange man, and followed the others. βUsually I would agree with your master, but considering we areβ¦ I can only imagined these events to be some kind of test.β Tests Vasile could only help they had not botched. βMaybe we should commit those words to memory.β He suggested to Nerfertit, keeping in mind what she said about prophecies. βBut I canβt discard the drunk theory either.β -

To be honest I lost most of what happened, only seeing two posts after the DM's update before the day in which I last posted but the erasing of one's posts given the first disagreement with other players because what the conversation so far suggests to have been mostly miscommunication and despite said players being very open to talking and retracting turns tells me that neither of your are really to blame. Rather it connotes that both of you acted with maturity, played your characters with sensibilities appropriate to time and place and followed what seems to an inexperienced player in the WoD like me (this is my first campaign in the system) the correct mentality for a kindred (that is, considering and being careful of everything Erico mentioned ). From my perspective the situation is a not exactly pleasant reminder that we should talk OOC before taking IC actions that will force other characters to act and you don't have to apologize. On the Discord matter, I agree that it could make for a faster OOC channel and would be in favor of adopting it. -

Vasile of House Iliescu Character Sheet | Health Perfect | Blood Pool 20/20 | Willpower 5/5 He had interest on Nerfetitβs plan, but not out of desire for company or blood. It was always useful to know someone with a large herd, but it would be even more useful to know a master of whispers. Victory in war, he came to learn, was built on the basis of preparation and preparation demanded information. If Khaliaβs words could be trusted she didnβt start her agency yet and that meant that no moment could be better to offer some help. βThe letter I received carried the same promise as yours, mister Karov.β Vasile answered reflecting upon the manβs words. There was always another purpose to serve, specially when dealing with older kindred. He then turned to the Setite. βIf you ever desire to speak with Voivode of Severin after tonight, I can arrange you an audience.β The offer made for a good compromise, thought the Tzimisce. Neither did he bound himself to an enterprise whose state could not possibly know, something that maybe would demand far more effort that he would be willing to give, nor he ignored it. That much should make space for future investment from his sire. Far from the window when commotion started on the slave market, it took him a few moments to understand what was happening. He didnβt quite understand what Nerfetiti said about evil. He was raised knowing about kindred and took feeding on blood as normal. Maybe we would think the same if I wasnβt brought up amongst ghouls. Whatever the case, he agreed with Nezira and Thyra were right. Alin would likely inform him about the situation on their next meeting. -

Vasile of House Iliescu Character Sheet | Health Perfect | Blood Pool 20/20 | Willpower 5/5 They were hunters, each and every one of them. Predators that quietly observed their surroundings. They looked for threats or weaknesses, keeping their very beings to themselves. At least until one of the women broke the silence. Nerfetiti was beautiful, likely capable of enchanting living men by her looks alone. Her name was exotic and Vasile didnβt know about the land she named. No surprise there. He was a warrior through all his life and continued to be after his death. He knew little of the world beyond the Carpathians. βVasile Iliescuβ He answered in a calm voice. It was still somewhat strange to give that surname. Through all his mortal years he never imagined it would come a day when it would become his. βI come from Drobeta-Turnu Severin and indeed at the request of my sire.β Part of him wanted to ask what she meant by βdancer of forbidden ritesβ. As far as he knew the practice of rites was closer to sorcerers. Ultimately, he decided it was better to avoid the matter. If her rituals were anything like magic of the Koldun not only she would have little inclination to explain anything about it but she could take offense by any question. βIβm a simple soldier.β The Tzimisce continued. It took him a moment to understand what Nefertiti meant by escort. He genuinely thought of bodyguards. Even thought Iβm no strange to harlots. That went to show how much war had become the focus of his existence. βNot the only one in this group, I take.β His eyes moved towards the other man. Two warriors and at least a spymaster. If that diversity of skills was not a coincidence then whatever the mysterious patron had in mind wouldnβt be simple to accomplish. -

Vasile of House Iliescu Character Sheet | Health Perfect | Blood Pool 20/20 | Willpower 5/5 The darkness was always full of whispers and that night one of them had the scent of a kine. He awaited nervously for the rising of the warrior, two letters in hand. No map. Itβs not an enemy attack, he concluded. There was no sign of battle and field orders were rarely committed to paper. At least the kind he was given. Hunt, bend, kill. Those were his specialties, after all. Ilie had made sure of that. Polite as always, the Tzimisce thought while reading. From the hand of a lesser kindred the words would be threats. It is my will would mean an order. Your future might be assured if you accept would mean that refusing was synonymous to final death. But not from that Voivode. No, he knew Vasile would not deny his wishes. The words on the letter were simply a result of his manners. βI take preparations are done, my ghoul is awaiting and you have the earth ready.β The Bane of the Fiends dictated he had to sleep surrounded by at least two handful of soil from Severin. βShow the way.β Curiosity crept into his mind during the journey. Who was this mysterious patron to be? What could propel a kindred to seek support from a creature such Ilie? What would Ilie gain from this alliance? In the end Vasile decided it didnβt matter. He would play his part either way. The mountain passes under storms gave way to the city. Budapest was a forest of stone, its air carried a myriad of sounds and smells β none sweeter than that of blood. They arrived but moments before the closing of the gates yet there was still life on the market. βAlin. You know what to do.β Vasile said as they left the guards behind. The ginger would find his own accommodations and gather information while the guide led him to a small inn. There he found other of his ilk. Four women, one of them Arabic and other a Nordic warrior. A man, tall, with long beard and longer hair. -

Itβs the way he always lived, and he is satisfied keeping it like that. He was turned into a ghoul to serve Vasile as the social counterbalance for the Tzimisceβs physical skills.

An enigmatic man of impeccable manners, refined tastes and known for tutoring his childer out of perfectionism. His rule over the city remounts to his mortal days, when he governed it as a Roman officer during the Trajan Campaigns in the area. Everyone has their own agenda, and you need to be careful about in who you place your trust. BACKSTORY Son of a whore. What is usually an insult to Vasile is but a matter of fact. He was born in Drobeta-Turnu Severin, the result of an illegitimate union between Bodgan of House Iliescu and Maria, a commoner prostitute that served Bogdan exclusively. Handed to his uncle soon after birth, he was taught letters, numbers, etiquette and combat. From afar anyone would think he was treated like a trueborn child, but truth was harsher. The Ilie who gave name to the family was in fact a Tzimisce and his descendance was established to serve him, providing a herd and ghouls. There was no warmth in that, no sense of belonging. To overcome the stigma of his bastardy, Vasile applied himself more than anyone else. His dedication to fight training was exceptional, his behavior was that of a perfect soldier and to the point of appearing addicted to battle. In fact, he was addicted to the way he felt during battlethe adrenaline rush during battle. When the war against the Tremere called for new Cainites he was one of the chosen for the Embrace, receiving the surname of his father. Feeding was a challenge but not because of some reluctance to attack humans. Out of principle he decided to drink only of adults, out of necessity he had to feed from those experiencing intense emotion adrenaline rush, addiction flaw- other kine failed to truly satisfy him. The first time hunting alone was a disaster for incapable to stop himself the neonate drained the veins of his victim and tried to bring her back as one of his own, only to find that he could not sire childe. On current nights, Vasile acts as a loyal enforcer of his elderβs will in hope that by doing so he can carve a place where he belongs.
