  1. Tymas calls out, "Let us be clear," adding to the comments the others in the party are making. "If you mean no harm, then show yourselves by the fire; but if instead you're looking for trouble, then in Helm's name you have most definitely found it." Tymas crouches down behind a large rock, hoping for at least a little cover in case these men have bows or throwing daggers. He clutches his sling in one hand, a rock ready for flinging in the other should the scouts -- or whoever they are -- choose to attack.
  2. Tymas respectfully remains silent while Valandil attempts to resolve this the peaceful way. He pretends to care for the horses, while keeping a watchful eye on these new individuals. As a cleric of Helm, he has never been one to shy away from a fight, if doing battle was justified. In this case, he believes these individuals and their "cult" isn't his business, and therefore he holds a live and let live mentality.
  3. Hey all, I'm sorry I have been away from the computer for a couple days -- work issues. But I'm back and this game is awesome so far, everybody takes their characters seriously and you're all amazing role-players. So glad to be a part of the group! :-)
  4. His mount toppled, Tymas hits the ground hard enough to knock the air out of him. His heart pounds blood in his ears. He scrambles to his wobbly feet, loosing his mace from its loop and standing ready to fight for his life -- but seeing the combat already over, he staggers to a knee. "My bloody head," he grouches, shaking free of the cobwebs before returning to his feet, a bit more steady now. "Almighty Helm, Valandil wasn't kidding when he said this place was dangerous. And we haven't even seen a sign of the Zhents yet." He clambers up next to Amarande. He shakes his head at the loss of two of the party's horses. "It saddens me that all of us did not make it, but at least most of us did. It could have been none of us." He clasps Amarande's shoulder. "Many thanks for waking us up with your warning."
  5. Tymas thanks Lhaeo for his help before looking to the others "I've my own spells, but I'll not shy away from melee. Still, I feel it's for the best if the bladesmen among us took the potions." Hearing Amarande's point about the animals, Tymas nods. "Our horses need to be powerful, but they're only as powerful as what they're fed. I'd say not to skimp on the best oats we can get. The Zhents knew about Morn, and now they're paying attention to the area. It's possible that the trip away from the tomb may be more . . . let's say . . . energetic . . . than the trip there. Add on to that the fact that we're talking about the undead. I've Helm's blessing, and that should turn some of them away, but if we need to fight them, magical weapons will be worth their weight in platinum ten times over."
  6. Lol, I can't believe I missed that! Good eyes!
  7. Tymas clears his throat at the mention of the Zhentarim. "There's no end to the Zhentarim and their mayhem. I guess we should have known. If death is no barrier to their thirst for power, then nothing will stop them but the gauntlet of Helm. I've seen their handiwork before -- at Yulash, now mere ash and rubble." He levels a deliberate glance at his companions, searching for any sign of hesitance. Seeing none, he adds, "You can count on us. We shall make them pay for what they've done, and by Helm's courage we will return Randal Morn to safety -- and his rightful place."
  8. Hey, thank you! Yes, the game starts with 5,000 xp, so I am pretty close to 4th level.
  9. Tymas -- fashionably late, as always -- appears from the throng of taverngoers and greets his recently made friends. "By the grace of Helm, we made short work of those Grimlocks, didn't we? On to the next, on to the next." He orders a mead and stew and sets about eating. He always seems to be famished. When the man approaches, Tymas rises and offers him a handshake. "C'mon down, sit a spell. You work for Elminster, eh? This ought to be good, then!" He sits back down with a thud, his mace crunching into the side of his chair from where it dangles from the loop on his belt.
  10. Awesome, excellent! Thank you for your help.
  11. I've posted a link, but it doesn't look like it's appearing on my post other than the actual link. LOL. What am I doing wrong?
  12. Player: I'm a 41-year old D&D player, been playing since I was a kid, got my start with AD&D 2nd edition, but I've also done 1st edition as well. I work in quality control at a pharmaceutical packaging company. I'm from north-central IL, so not that far from you, ! I am looking forward to finally role-playing again. Character: 22-year old Acolyte of Helm. Tymas Waites is a Hillsfar native but left town with some likeminded clerics after Maalthiir seized power. While his companions continued into the heart of the Dalelands, Tymas has chosen to stay, hoping to help fight the growing Zhentarim presence in the region. He's a little above average height, but solid and strong, yet still fairly light on his feet. He has a long face framed with a brown beard, crystalline blue eyes, and shoulder-length brown hair.
  13. Absolutely! Could I get a hand with that? I've been playing around with this website, but I'm not seeing how to import my character sheet into the post. How do I go about doing that?
  14. Tymas Waites, Acolyte of Helm, hails from Hillsfar. He has a deep-rooted respect for authority and law, and when Maalthiir seized power from the ruling council, it disgusted him. The feeling only worsened after the Red Plumes began their purge of the city of halflings and other races. Tymas left the city and traveled west with a few likeminded clerics from his church. They skirted the ruins of Yulash -- the city having been recently destroyed by the Zhentarim -- and wound up catching a ferry down the River Tesh to Voonlar. Seeing how Zhentarim-friendly Voonlar's leadership is, the other clerics chose to push further into the Dales, but now that he's seen how far-reaching the Zhentarim's poisonous presence has become, he decided to stay in Shadowdale to regroup, partner with other adventurers (and join our party), and hopefully one day return the city of Hillsfar to its rightful rulers.
  15. Hi all! Longtime 1st and 2nd edition player, happy to get back into playing again. I've always wanted to play through some classic modules, and excited to get started. I've created a placeholder for my character, which I will work on Sunday (today).
