  1. Zaivie looks confused and frowns thoughtfully before responding. "Well...ta be honest, Tharny, I can't say my firs' instinct was ta cut th' rope and leave 'em - whoever they are - down there ferever...but now tha' ya mention it, don't it seem like a good idea pull th' rope up an' ta wait an' see who comes back fer it? If'n it's folks we don't wanna kill an' rob, we'll pass th' rope back down to 'em; if'n it's th' other kind, well, I reckon we won't then."
  2. Don't split the party, Malk; bad things happen in tombs and caves when parties are split. :)
  3. Zaivie, on Black Dougal's word and cue, tosses her newly-lit torch in as instructed. "Right behind ya, Mr. Dougal!" she says, already unsheathing her weapon in preparation for what may very well come next.
  4. Yeah, if Zaivie doesn't feel any unnatural fear or horror here, she probably isn't afraid or horrified; that's just not how her brain works. If the group votes to go in, by the gods, then so will she.
  5. Excellent, excellent IC post there for Serpe! Few people can pull off playing a priest in a three-dimensional, believable and empathetic way without getting heavy-handed and preachy, Eph, but damned if you aren't pulling it off thus far. Nicely done!
  6. Zaivie opens her mouth and closes it again because, yes, she very much was going to make a retort as soon as the priest said sitting on your face. Hells, how could she pass up an opportunity like that?! And yet, instead, she doesn't quip this time; instead, she listens. And, beyond that, she feels (or tries to anyway). Gods, these goody-goody boys of hers must be starting to rub off on her... (OOC: Cai, I don't know if a roll is needed here, but Zaivie is genuinely trying to pause and reach out with her senses to see if she can feel any of what Ephkabey's character is talking about. Up until now, she hasn't felt any darkness or oppression, but up until now, she wasn't trying to either. Just trying to see if she can sense it if she tries to be aware of it, or if she keeps on thinking the priest is making mountains out of molehills.)
  7. Zaivie bursts out laughing in one rushing guffaw. "Yeah, cuz whatever's down there's sure ta be jus' fine," she says, jerking her thumb at the black hole before them that appears to literally lead into one's worst nightmares, "but trees an' spiders? Now that shit's scary!" Jibes or no, she does at least light a torch and offers to go first if the boys were too scared of the open tomb before them all.
  8. That's a true statement, right there: Cai is excellent at this. Always has been too. I've been playing PbP since 2009 - holy shit, that's fifteen years - and he is, unquestionably, one of the greatest PbP GMs I've had the pleasure of playing with. I've played with a ton of online GMs. Some are good, some are well-meaning (which usually means close to good at least, though not always) and some aren't either of those things, but Cai's one of the best without a doubt. Few people can elevate the asynchronous approach to gaming and storytelling like he can.
  9. I'm reading The Killers of the Flower Moon right now. Ouch. Just...ouch. Much like the Black Wall Street murders, I just never knew anything about this stuff, but man, it's eye opening. Talk about stuff we should have learned about in school but never did!
  10. I'm listening to all the bands I'm seeing in concert this summer to get fired up for those shows, so right now, there's an awful lot of Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins, Plush, Hootie and the Blowfish, Collective Soul and the Indigo Girls in my life. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. :)
  11. Agreed! No player attrition - not even any loss of player interest - at this point in a PbP game is excellent indeed.
  12. Zaivie will stay back at the inn, enjoying her breakfast. She'll be ready for adventure when everyone is done with their chores though!
  13. Zaivie is used to people - men, sure, but women too now and again - noticing her when she walks into a room. She was not, however, used to anyone showing her any kind of respect or deference, as some few seemed to be doing lately from their barstools. The attention Zaivie was known for getting didn't usually involve much deference (and respect was pretty far down the list too, if we're all being honest). So it was then that Zaivie began to greet the hello-ers and well-wishers at the bar with a hearty good mornin' and a flashed grin. If they asked her about her group's exploits, she answered honestly, albeit a bit vaguely regarding directions and details. She didn't brag exactly, but she didn't shy away from flexing her muscles to show off how good she was with swinging a hammer either. Once she'd rejoined her companions to break her fast, she piped up somewhat gleefully, "Damn, I think we're gettin' a little bit popular 'round these parts, boys! Now what's on th' menu fer this mornin', eh?"
  14. "Sometimes I think wha' you boys c'nsider invitin' darkness in is jus' wha' I c'nsider havin' fun, but hey, takes all kinds ta make this world o' ours. Cheers," Zaivie says, raising her own glass in turn, though whether her toast is in conjunction with Cyrus's or in open defiance of it is certainly up for debate.
