Appearance

Being of a family of Half-Elves Caelis has a blend of both his human and elven ancestry. His features are fine and his movements graceful but his height and stature betray his human blood, else he might pass for a full-blooded elf. Long dark brown hair frames a tanned face set with golden honey colored eyes. Those pools of molten amber and a quick smile can melt the heart of even the coldest maiden or noble matron alike. He wears an easy smile, and walks with a quiet confidence not often found in such a handsome man. His wardrobe ranges from bright finery to utilitarian traveling clothes but is always accompanied by the lute in his hands. A razor sharp rapier stands gaurd at his hip, a warning to those that might think him a soft minstrel and an easy target.

Personality

Gregarious and light-hearted, Caelis is quick to laugh and easy to speak to. He has a genuine zest for life that few can match and an ability to bring joy to others. Beneath this seeming carefree exterior is a man that is very serious about making the world a better place. He wants to see the best in people but is often let down, though he is still unwilling to allow any of that to come in the way of helping them. Caelis is a loyal friend who is willing to put his life on the line to protect others, especially his companions those he cares about. Though he is somewhat naïve in his expectations of the world he is diligent and intuitive in his efforts to uncover and intervene in the tyranny that is so rife in Faerun. Despite the darkness he finds in his travels there is always a smile on his face and a song on his lips.

Goals

-Caelis wishes to do good where he is able. He believes that being a part of the Harpers in how he can do that .

-Caelis wants to experience life and see the world. Working and traveling as a minstrel and bard allows him to to do so.  

-Caelis' family passed down a reverence for Shaundakul and though no priest he is happy to help spread his faith. 

-Caelis harbors a deep resentment of the Zhentarim and actively works against them whenever possible. He would risk much to help bring them to ruin.

This young man he arose

Backstory

- Grew up in a loving home near Elturel, a city not took distant from Candlekeep or Baldur's Gate

- Parents are both Half-elven - Mother Lyrei, and father, Amakiir are the proprietors of a small inn and tavern called the Baron of Mutton and longtime supporters of the Harpers.

- Caelis had an idyllic childhood, filled with a love for music, life, and people. Their home was always filled with laughter and song.

- Wishing to experience the world he set off when he came of age and began traveling the Sword Coast supporting himself as a minstrel.

- First ran into the Zhents traveling the Dalelands. He came upon the smoldering ruin of a small farmstead they had recently raided. He saw this and worse from them over the next years.

- Joined up with the Harpers in an effort to do something about the Zhentarim as well as try to help the people of the Sword Coast.

- Has traveled since then working diligently to help those he can as he travels from area to area plying his trade and sharing his song.

- Having recently visited home, Caelis is currently traveling with a merchant caravan to nearby Greenest as he continues his adventures.

That is no problem. The feature can be replicated pretty easily. I will update it for you with something from the PHB. I have most things available on DND Beyond so limiting them is a bit confusing sometimes. Ill ping you when I get it sorted!

@Colin Are you okay flavoring the spy or soldier benefit to apply to the Harpers?  They are pretty close to the Faction Agent in theory just what group they pertain to. The skills/languages are easily done with a custom background. 

 

If not I can go another route and have his background be simply what applied previous to his association with the group. Grand scheme of things I just like the idea that he is a novice agent or associate to the Harpers. Fits well with the story I thin as well.
