Trithereon

Trithereon's favored weapon appears to be the spear (possibly also sword or 'baton')?

the Knights of the Chase would work well

Yes.

Way of the Shooting Star specifically requires worshiping the deity with the associated style.

Okay, so, the floodgate I'm worried about opening is...

...why not have Way of the Shooting Star apply to any weapon? It's really just Charisma to attack and bonus rolls, after all? And then, well, why not any stat? Wisdom? Intelligence? Constitution? And then, why even need a feat to do it?

I think the goal of using Charisma as your combat stat AND having a compelling background is achieved with Kord or Dalt and restricting Way of the Shooting Star to light weapons that can be thrown, at most without torturing the feats to get the intended result.

If we're sticking with Kord or Dalt, Kord works better IMO, with Max having been a strongman, and now, that he's weaker, he's kept the armor but had to downsize his weapon, changing his style to be more defensive and using his personality over brawn to compensate for his ageing.

Dalt is all about locks and doors and less about courage and bravery, so not a good fit.

Tritherion fits thematically too, but you're right his preferred weapons are not right. Kord fits because Starknfie literally looks like Kord's heraldry.

Going to brows a crystal reference that keeps a list of deities for a list of other options.

EDIT: Human, Greyhawk, and theme Compatible Deities with Dagger (or a throwable weapon) as Favored Weapon:

Aphrodite, Hestia, Evening Glory (LM), Estanna (BOED), Lyris* (CW, Officially it's a warhammer ,but symbol is dagger balanced on a finger)

Shortsword candidates:

Tyche

Star Symbolism:

Celestian (weapon officially Spear)

I'm fine with Kord, I picked him first for a reason. Is Shortsword ok?

Dueling daggers would more be in line with the starknife in terms of damage and size. Plus, it's got that nifty combat expertise thing.

Backup ideas.

Innocent Bystander

Urban Invulnerable Rager Barbarian

[1 H] Bolstered Resistance
[1 B] Diehard
[1 R] Country Born
[1 T] Unscathed
[1 T] TBD
[3 B] Endurance
[4 B] Stalwart
[5 B] Recovered Rage

Diplomacy (Cha), Knowledge (local) (Int), Knowledge (nobility) (Int), Linguistics (Int), and Profession (Wis) as class skills.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: An urban barbarian is not proficient with medium armor.

Crowd Control (Ex): At 1st level, an urban barbarian gains a +1 bonus on attack rolls and a +1 dodge bonus to AC when adjacent to two or more enemies. In addition, her movement is not impeded by crowds, and she gains a bonus equal to 1/2 her barbarian level on Intimidate checks to influence crowds. This ability replaces fast movement.

Controlled Rage (Ex): When an urban barbarian rages, instead of making a normal rage she applies a +4 morale bonus to her Strength, Dexterity, or Constitution. This bonus increases to +6 when she gains greater rage and +8 when she gains mighty rage. She may apply the full bonus to one ability score or may split the bonus between several scores in increments of +2. When using a controlled rage, an urban barbarian gains no bonus on Will saves, takes no penalties to AC, and can still use Intelligence-, Dexterity-, and Charisma-based skills. This ability otherwise follows the normal rules for rage.

This ability alters rage.

Invulnerability (Ex): At 2nd level, the invulnerable rager gains DR/— equal to half her barbarian level. This damage reduction is doubled against nonlethal damage. This ability replaces uncanny dodge, improved uncanny dodge, and damage reduction.

Extreme Endurance (Ex): At 3rd level, the invulnerable rager is inured to either hot or cold climate effects (choose one) as if using endure elements. In addition, the barbarian gains 1 point of fire or cold resistance for every three levels beyond 3rd. This ability replaces trap sense.
