TRAITS/MUTATIONS

Charmed

The void born unconsciously channel the fickle powers of the warp, making them preternaturally lucky.

Benefit: Whenever you spend a Fate Point (though not if you burn one), roll a 1d10. On the roll of a natural 9, you do not lose the Fate Point.

Ill-Omened

Whether because of their strange looks, clannish ways or unwholesome air, the void born are shunned and mistrusted by most. In addition the void born are most likely to attract any negative attention that the party of Acolytes creates— accusations of curdling milk, disgruntled merchants, children with handfuls of Grox dung and so on.

Penalty: You take a –5 penalty on all Fellowship Tests made to interact with non-void born humans.

Shipwise

Birthed in the depths of a spacefaring craft, the void born have a natural affinity for such vehicles.

Benefit: Navigation (Stellar) (Int) and Pilot (Spacecraft) (Ag) are Basic Skills for you.

Void Accustomed

Due to their strange and unnatural childhood, the void born are used to the vagaries of changing gravity.

Benefit: You are immune to space travel sickness. In addition, zero- or low-gravity environments are not considered Difficult Terrain for you.

Sound Constitution

You are able to absorb more damage before you die. You gain an additional Wound. If your advance scheme allows it, you may purchase this Talent multiple times.

Sprint

You are able to put on a burst of speed to get out of—or into—trouble fast. When taking the Full Move action, you may move an extra number of metres equal to your Agility Bonus. When taking the Run action, you may double your Movement for one Round. If you use this Talent two turns in a row, you gain one level of Fatigue.

Appearance

Dressed in the research robes worn by all sages in the J-VOR facility, there is a fine quality to the material and construction of her uniform. The robes are white with gold thread and detailed embroidery, designating her rank as a servant to the scholars. On her brow she wears cold-forged golden circlet holding the blood of the facility's founder, a historic charm and award for her dedication when the research team faced the warp channel that corrupted weaker-willed members of the team. 

Her skin is the color of milky cocoa, her land and wavy hair a deep black very similar to the vastness of space where the research facility drifts. No closest sun is indistinguishable from the background of stars, so her eyes have never formed a deeper pigmentation, giving it the liquid blue color that comes from artificially filtered light. Growing up in half-G, she has little muscle mass, allowing the skeletal bones beneath the skin visible, thin wiry muscles only appear while exerting herself. 

Only someone born into the Void would find her beautiful, but her features are attractive to many throughout the Empire. But it is obvious that she has rarely done strenuous work in her life, focusing almost exclusively on acquiring knowledge.

Background

Born in the Jovinian-Vulcanus Orbital Research facility in the deep interstellar expanse within the Leviatus Sector, serving as combination of experimental testing facility, prototype manufacturing facility, and scientific think tank and technical college. The port also acts as a waypoint for vessels mining in the deepest asteroids, or for ships that jump into the sector from outside. Unable to qualify for college entry, she entered the facility as administrator, starting as a librarium activist. Her main responsibility was to collect experimental files after research was complete and catalog them for final storage. 

She progressed through the ranks and before promotion to Scrivener. This however was where she witnessed the horrors of the Void when documenting the research of a warp channelling. The voices that presented themselves within her mind nearly broke her, but she recovered and performed her job admirably, even though she can still feel where the voices touched her mind. Now, she has been promoted again, as a research analyst to examine the methods research teams are employing. She has the authority to intervene should their direction lead away from the main goals of the research institution. But interrupting the progress of research is beyond her power, without getting proper approval. However, many times adepts of her rank often don't survive should they encounter something dangerous enough to need higher level supervisors approval.
