Rumors Dolan collected during his rounds about town and inquiries with associates and gossipers about Daggerford

Local:

1. One of the barmaids in the River Shining Tavern knows what happened to Hellgate Keep and is hiding from Harper and Zhent alike.
2. Waterdeep plans to expand its hold of the North to include Daggerford. The duke's not very happy about it, and he's readying to resist any military invasion of his duchy.
3. Gwydion, the court wizard, is hardly ever seen in public nowadays. He spends most of his time cooped up in his home, hiring adventurers to seek out strange tomes and spell components.
4. A notice has been posted on guildhalls and alehouses frequented by adventurers and sellswords in Waterdeep this past tenday:

"Sir Justin Melenikus, a renowned knight of Helm, needs brave adventurers to help slay monstrous threats from the dreaded Mere of Dead Men. Fell Creatures have been attacking caravans on the High Road this past summer, slaughtering travellers and endangering Waterdeep's trade with its northern neighbours! Unless the monsters are dealt with, all trade to the north could be halted when winter passes. Sir Justin and his watchers have made camp in the ruins of Iniarv's Tower, located four days walk towards Leilon. Interested parties should meet with Sir Justin in person. Rewards for slain monsters shall be authorized by Sir Justin. Gold shall be paid by the Free Merchants' Guild upon presentation of a stamped writ from the knight himself."

1. The Zhentarim are planning to open up a school of magic in Daggerford, and an emissary from Zhentil Keep is staying in the ducal palace and has already paid a lot of gold to the duke for the privilege.
2. Sir Elorfindar, the elven lord, is planning on moving into Daggerford because he’s getting too old to take care of himself.
3. A gobble of trolls has taken over part of the Daggerford sewers! The Watermen’'s Guild is offering a hefty reward for adventurers strong enough to brave the stench of both the sewers and trolls.
4. The Laughing Hollow has many wild elves and other creatures such as pixies, centaurs, satyrs, and more. It’s also a source of weird magic that can turn normal weapons into horridly cursed instruments of death.
5. The Dragonspear Castle campaign was the result of a recent invasion from the Lower Planes. There is still a way to get to other planes somewhere in the depths of the castle.
6. Lady Bronwyn is an accomplished sorceress who has rejected a number of suitors already.
7. Before his death, Baron Cromm Redhand had been hunting dinosaurs (and maybe lizard-men) in the Lizard Marsh.

The Realms:

• Maligor, Zulkir of Transmutation of the Red Wizards of Thay has been slain at the hands of the dread lich Szass Tam, Zulkir of Necromancy.
• An invasion by Thay has once again been repelled by the mysterious Witches of Rashemen and their barbarian people.
• An event being called the Council Schism in Amn, resulted in the deaths of Amn’s Meisarch, Thayze Selemchant, and the Namarch and Pomarch of the Council of Six. The death of the Meisarch, an ally of Syl-Pasha Ralan of Calimshan, has stalled rumoured plans to conquer Tethyr.
• The mercenary company known as the The Knights of the Black Gauntlet have seized power in the city-state of
• Mintar on the Lake of Steam.
• The Rotting Man, a monstrous servant of Talona, has appeared again, this time in the Rawlinswood.
• The Merchants’ Council of Phsant took action, sending to Tammar an army of one hundred of the best orc warriors the Zhentarim left behind to deal a final blow to what's left of the savage Tuigan Horde.

Local:

1. Baron Agwain Delantar has come to Daggerford to woo Lady Bronwyn Daggerford, the Duke's sister. (Discovered by Trammel.)
2. Some individual/s leaving the Black Stone Inn seem to be coming from the river or thereabouts, as their boots carry fresh river mud instead of the sooty dark mud of the town streets and alleys.
3. Four individuals, all relatively new in Daggerford and all interested in adventure, have recently disappeared. They may have take a commission from one of the local temples or they may have taken a commission from the Waterman's Guild to deal with the rumor of trolls in the sewers.
4. The rumor of trolls in the sewers seems to have no witnesses to corroborate it among many in the Waterman's Guild.
5. A crazed priest of Storm Lord (Talos) knows the Wardens have a map related to the lost dwarf stronghold under Mt. Illefarn and is seeking it. He has made mention of the "Wormridden" and the "Rustworm", whatever those mean.
6. The son of Baron Agwain Delantar, Garmont Delantar has been spotted in the Ducal Castle multiple times this day.
