That did not go well, so I updated the above drawings with some notes that should help clarify. First of all, an x-ray look at the outside, underscoring the climb you took to a side entrance, and dashed line showing the course of the spiraling hallway you found inside: And second the internal view. The spiraling hallway is highlighted in red. What is highlighted in red is higher up and over top of green.
