Creation Mytho

IlFJu8hX.pngn the beginning there was only The Void. From the Void, the Eldritch Ones were birthed forth. Beings of limitless power and understanding. If there was anything before the Eldritch Ones that knowledge has been lost to time. The Eldritch Ones do not speak of such things, if they exist.

The Eldritch Ones were six in number at this time.  Hastur, Ithaqua, Azathoth, Syzygy, Cxaxukluth, and Nhimbaloth.

From the Eldritch Ones, they would spin new worlds from the Dark Tapestry. Creating what to mortal beings would be known as the Outer Planes. Each of the Eldritch Ones would create a race of their own to oversee. Three of these races would later become what is known as Fiends: Demons (The Depths of Pandemonium), Devils (The Nine Hells of Baator), and Diablos (The Grey Wastes of Hades). The other three would become known as Celestials: Archons (The Seven Mounting Heavens), Eladrins (The Glades of Arborea), and Guardials (The Field of Reeds).

The Eldritch Ones however did little to commune with their young creations, leaving them primarily to their own devices. MaintainingfzS4yoO.png focus on an entire race seemed little of the Eldritchs’ true desires. Quickly growing bored with their creations after a time, the Eldritch seemed to vanish. Where they went is unknown. If they truly left, or just quietly watched the creation is some sort of perverted game known only to themselves.

LMCJU4W.pngThe Fiends quickly fell into feuding amongst themselves. Seeking power on a vicious destructive level. A war between the Devils and the Demons began. A war still raging to this day, even after many millennia, known as the Blood War. The Diablos meanwhile play both sides against each other for their own ill schemes, likely seeking to take control as both sides destroy one another.

Meanwhile the Archons of the Celestials tried to seat themselves above the Eladrin and the Guardials. This led to a civil war among the Archons as some attempted to defend their fellow “lesser” Celestials. This conflict was known as the Twilight War. Desperation however saw forces of the rebel Archons seek aid from Fiends to the war efforts. The rebel forces were eventually thwarted and those Archons forever exiled from Heaven. However the Eladrins and Guardials never bent the knee to the Archon, despite what the Archons claim to the contrary. An uneasy alliance of the Celestials exists if swords must be drawn against the Fiends. However beyond that, sour memories of attempted servitude still linger.

The Eldritch Ones at some point returned. Upon returning they quickly deemed their first creations failures. Not bothering to destroy them though, they most casually tossed them aside. They closed them off into the Outer Planes by creating a barrier of the Astral Sea. This action did not go unnoticed by the Celestials or the Fiends. The return of their creators should have been a time of joy, but was instead an act of abandonment. A betrayal of their parental creators. While the Fiends and Celestials may fight amongst themselves, and while they might fight against each other in bloody combat, they now all share a common desire to seek vengeance on the Eldritch Ones should they ever see them again. gZex6CK.png?1

Inside the Astral Sea the Eldritch Ones would create what would be known as the Elemental Chaos and The Umbra that connected it all. Within the Chaos the Eldritch Ones would create the Suli, the Archfey, and the Yokai. The Suli were beings of the elementals that bound all creation together. The Archfey and Yokai being the physical embodiment of the desires, fears, and other emotions from which all sentient beings found within themselves.

Now rather than just leaving their creations to free reign this time, they created a group of beings much like themselves, though less powerful - The Titans. Beings of Creation. The Pure Elements that bind it and give it life. As well as the two primary elements that drive all living beings forward and fill them with purpose.

Ignipotens was the Titan of Fire.    Aeolus was the Titan of Air.   Tarragona was the Titan of Earth.   Marinus was the Titan of Water.   Vesuvius was the Titan of Magma.   Fulguritus was the Titan of Lightning.   Oblimo was the Titan of Mud.   Gelidus was the Titan of Ice.   Desero was the Titan of Fate.    Hypnos was the Titan of Desire.

Once again as before, shortly after the Titans creation, the Eldritch Ones would vanish. Only occasionally would the implication of their presence still watching over their children come to pass. Their presence disappearing, just as quickly and suddenly, as it would appear.

On their own, the Titans did not wish to see the same fate befall the new races like their estranged Fiendish and Celestial cousins. The Titans would first reach into the Elemental Chaos and give it a more stable form. As such from the Chaos they would create the Elemental Planes. The eight Titans of Creation molded and sculpted a Plane to each match their own image and own unique personality. The final two Titans, Fate and Desire, weaving their threads through them all. As Desero and Hypnos placed their final touches upon each of the eight Elemental Planes, the combined power pooled to where each of the planes went to touch in the center amid the Astral Sea. From the pooling of their divine powers three other Planes unexpectedly sprung forth. The Feywild and the Darkmoor bleeding along the edges of all the eight elemental planes. And in the center of all the Planes came the realm what would be known as the Prime Material Plane.

With the sudden creation of these new Planes, Desero would claim the Feywild and Hypnos would take the Darkmoor. With this, all of the Titans would lay claim to their own realm of control. The Prime Material after much debate would be left as a joint project among all of them as it was the result of all their powers merging as one. This was The First Age.

To say the creation of any of the mortal races that resides on the Prime Material was the result of one particular Titan’s influence is speculative. The heavy influence of one Titan in a specific race more than others can be noted at times, however there is little to indicate that any race is the pure result of only one Old God alone. Because of this there are very few races that would claim a patron deity to themselves alone. The Suli, Yokai, and Archfey ventured to visit the new realm against their caretaker's orders. Be it out of spite or curiosity. The result of the intimacies with the members of the Prime Material  created many offshoots and races unintended by the Titans. Many that have taken over their own status over thousands of years. The Genasi, Changelings, and the Dhampir as just a few examples.

The Celestials and Fiends snuck their way to the Prime Material to see what was initially banned from them by their creators. Many found individuals to manipulate and control for their own selfish desires and schemes. Some saw young budding individuals to teach and attempt to enlighten. Others were simply smitten by the new races, be it true love or raw carnal lust. These meetings resulted in beings such as the Tiefling and Aasimar. More than anything though the Celestials and Fiends also took advantage of the souls of the new races. Both used the cracks of the Astral to channel souls of the dead back to their native planes to reincarnate into new warriors to continue their never ending war.

The continued interference of their own children despite their decree to stay away, as well as the theft of the souls of many of their creations by the estranged members of the Outside Planes, caused the Titans extreme frustration. Because of this a plan to wipe out all of existence across the Material Prime was constructed. The Titans wanted to start over with better means to prevent interference from the other planar beings rather than just abandon the plane like the Elders had done before them.

The members of the Inner Planes were appalled by the proposal. They had come to find the Prime Material as an endearing place beyond their own homes. Many had families and investments within the world as well. The Fiends and Celestials finding out of this plan, did not like the concept of their supply of new souls to add to their armies being cut off.

With the knowledge of the Titans plans, The Archfey, Yokai, and the Suli sought out mortals from the Prime Material of heroic might and unwavering willpower. Finding these champions they endowed them with divine powers as a means to help fight back the Old Gods plans of destruction. The Titans in response created the Dragons and the Wyrms, among other large magical beasts that still roam Delos to this day. Though none were as intelligent as the Dragons and the Wyrms, nor had the range of magical abilities.

Many heroes died and many beasts were slain in the conflicts that ensued. After a time the Titans finally backed down on their original plans of destruction of the Prime Material. At the request of the residents of the Inner Planes, those bestowed with divine power were allowed to maintain their gifts. With these gifted individuals in place, the Titans retreated back to their own individual planes, leaving the newly heroes to watch over the realm for the time being. This time would become known as the Second Age. The heroes would become known as the New Gods.

With the New Gods now watching over the Prime Material, many power struggles began amongst them. Eventually the pantheon followed by the church that is known today was formed.

Leoris and Ariniel using their divine powers would carve out an island amid the center of the grand Astral Sea. From this island would grow the World Tree, The Fusang. Beneath the World Tree, through the vast caverns and root structure that would be created would be the Caves of Yomi. From the Sea as well, they would also divert the river that would be known as Styx. Leoris and Ariniel sneaking power from the Outer Planes through the Astral borders where it was weakest, they would create the realms of Elysium and Gehenna. No longer would the souls of the lost be stolen by the Celestials or the Fiends to be reincarnated for their endless War.

Souls of the dead upon entering the Astral Sea are drawn to the Island of the World Tree. From there based on their lives, they may find themselves ascending through the Fusang, or descending through the Yomi. Others may find their way to Elysium or Gehenna via the Styx. Living beings that are attempting to reach either Elysium or Gehenna are likely to find their way to the Island as well upon crossing into the Astral. The living however are not meant to travel along these routes. Because of this, travel is difficult and deadly. It is possible they still reach their intended destination, though not in the manner they originally planned.
