Having seen the damage Kaijus can cause, Raphael is always willing to go the extra mile to protect civilians and his teammates.


Trouble: Plagued by ghosts of the past

Raphaels unique control system comes with the downside, that he felt every damage his mecha took over the years. Losing arms and legs, or getting mostly totaled again and again, left mental scars, trauma and phantom pain..

Erratic defense:  You sway and stagger on your feet, evading enemy blows seemingly by chance, but your enemy now finds himself dangerously overextended. Roll Mecha Piloting to dodge. On a success, place a boost on your opponent such as Overextended or Off-Balance that anyone may use against him. On a success with style, place a second boost on your opponent.

Razor Sharp defense: Whenever your enemy misses you with a melee attack, you manage to let him strike obstacles or sharp blades on your mecha, causing damage to themselves. When you dodge a blow with Mecha Piloting, your opponent takes one stress, or two stress if you succeed with style

Redirect Attack: Once per scene, when you succeed with style on a defence roll with Mecha Piloting against a melee attack, you may force your opponent to attack another of your enemies in the same zone with the same attack roll.

Extraordinary Concentration: Once per scene, when you successfully create an advantage with Will based on concentration, you gain one additional free invocation.

 

 ⌬BIO⌬

Raphael Delacord, son of a german mother and canadian father, spent most of his life in germany. High of hopes, to much self esteem and overly motivated, he enrolled in the training to become a mecha pilot. But that wasn´t the end of it. Thinking he was special he volunteered to join a prototype programm, that would merge normal mecha control together with a neural link, to deepen the control of the mecha and increase the reaction time and performance of the pilots.

Just 1 year later the project was deemed a failure, with most pilots going insane upon the pained the neural link caused them during combat action. Raphael "only" got broken to some degree, in constant pain, but unwilling to give up the mecha, seeing it as a way to perform better during combat.

 

In the year 2020 he was among the responding Mecha Assault Units to meet the threat of Dagahra. Like everyone else he and his mecha was taken down in no time. Combined with the neural link this experience took him 2 years, until he was ready again to step into his rebuild mecha again.

Less cocky and more defensive as a result he is now focused on damage control for his environment and his own mecha.

Neural Interface

Gaunt is equipped with a neural interface that works in unison with the manual controls of the mecha, to expand and finetune the motoric capabilites.

-Adcanced control system: +2 create advantage and +2 defend against ca when logically applyable (2CP)

Gaunt is barely armored to keep the movement fluid in flexible.

Spiked and bladed chassis

The mecha does possess 2 arm blades on top on various spikes protruding from different points of the chassis. More often than not, they are used to pay back attacks from kaijus, by turning their hits into self harm.

AI controlled barbed tail

Gaunt has a integrated barbed tail, that is fully controlled by a AI programm and autonomous. It is programmed to attack the nearest biological threat larger than 7 meter and entangle it in the process to hinder movement.

-Self Targeting: The tail will attack every 2 turns at +2(fair) value in addition to the players turn

- Entangle: Whenever you would deal with the tail, you can add the aspect "entangled" to the enemy, which can be invoked to hinder its movement. If you succeed with style, you gain a free invoke.

-Weapon Aspect: "Tail you lose." Just having a tail adds another appendix a kaiju has to focus on, which can sometimes be overwhelming. Furthermore it can be quite a boon to block a incoming attack.

Greetings Delacord, 

 

I read that you were in one of the units that fought Dagahra, I was there operating in QRT 4 (quick response teams), I constantly think about that day and all of the guys that put their lives on the line to keep the chaos at bay. I also did some research on the unit you were assigned to, you were the only one to make it out. Well Delacord, Im glad to have you on the team. Most of the guys are young, I think you will be able to give some creditable insight to those who haven't been in your shoes.
