Stat rolls are also supposed to have the lowest rolled die drop, so a number between 4 - 12 results and then that number is improved by spending character points. Can you give some pointers on clarifying the character creation and level up framework to so others can understand it?

Ah, I see, thanks for letting me know, I appreciate you commenting here! 😀

Yeah I think either doing an example and/or adding in

so a number between 4 - 12 results and then that number is improved by spending character points

would help with making things clearer. I think you were fine, I just misread things, but extra clarification is always good.

If I can work out the exact dice tower command, I will let you know.

I think it is likely that I will also make mistakes later in the character creation, as I am unfamiliar with modern, but your character creation outline is clear enough for me to get started and attempt things at least, and then correct them later. Might take a few drafts of my character for me to get things right.

Str 9

Dex 9

Con 7

Int 9

Wis 12

Cha 10

Character Pool of {100}

Add points from character pool, no more than 7 to one stat.

Str 16 = 9 + 7 points

Dex 16 = 9 + 7 points

Con 14 = 7 + 7 points

Int 12 = 9 + 3 points

Wis 12

Cha 10

Character Pool of {100}

minus 24 points

= 76, assuming it is a 1 for 1 buy off. If not, let me know.

Class skills renamed to Tag Skills.

3 points to make a skill a tag skill.

Skills may only be tagged at lvl 1. {feats for more}

7 Free Tag Skills

Ok I think the dice command would be either

Ability Scores:repeat(reroll(drop(3d6,lowest),1,below),6)

Or if you click the dice tower and use the second button from the left, like I usually do, put

Ability scores in the left field, and then

repeat(reroll(drop(3d6,lowest),1,below),6) in the right field.

I had to check the User guides then modify the usual 4d6 drop lowest reroll 1s option.

Since this rewrite is classless, the equivalent of a class is skill is a Tag Skill (think fallout). You pick seven skills to be tag skills, and can pay 3 points each from the skill to make other skill tag skills, but can only make a skill a tag skill at character creation, make a skill a tag skill does not automaticaly add ranks For skills 1 point buys 1 rank for a regular skill or 2 ranks for a tag skill. The guidelines also show point cost for other parts of the character, BAB, feats, Hit Dice. Keep in mind that All Weapon feats have been replaced by skills, every single weapon is its own skill and attack bonus with that weapon is(skill mod - 4) and weapon synergies can be applied (Upto GM to define synergies). A melee weapon has STR as its key ability, a ranged weapon has Dex. I also posted a list of feats outside of the D20 books for use.

Cool, thanks!

What is the maximum number of ranks in a skill? Oh I see now. Max Skill ranks = Lvl + 1 (double for tag skills).

Also, given that weapons have their own skills, I assume they can also be selected from the initial tag skills and/or 3 points spent to make them a tag skill?

Initial thoughts for Tag skills, might change this later.

Craft (Mechanical)

Diplomacy

Repair

Sense Motive

Survival

Treat Injury

Tumble

76 points from before.

minus 14 to put each of the tag skills at 4 ranks, since 7 x 2, and each time put a point into tag skill it gives 2 ranks.

= 62 points.

Starting occupation

d20 Resources - Starting Occupation - Adventurer

Choose treat injury and survival as the skills. Both already tag skills, so +1 on checks with those.

Bonus feat Brawl

d20 Resources - Feats - Brawl

Wealth Bonus Increase: +1. Not sure if that is relevent here.

Remove Weapon Proficiencies. Each weapon has a skill.

Does this mean exotic weapon proficiency feat no longer needed for exotic weapons, just treat as any normal skill instead?

62 points left.

Buy saves

What is the maximum they can be bought to? Will assume 1 for now.

Spend 3 to get +1 in each of the three saves.

= 59 points left.

Will come back to traits.

Buy first hit die. Looks like fist, assume that was just a typo. d12 hit die.

59 points

Spend 4 to get d12.

= 55 points left.

Buy defense

What is the maximum? Will assume 1.

55 points

Spend 3 to get +1

= 52 points left.

Speak, read and write English.

Weapon skills

For each one, 5 points spent = 3 points to make tag skill, 2 points to bring it to 4 ranks.

Unarmed.

Three-section staff, exotic weapon.

Katana, exotic weapon.

Spear, archaic weapon.

Longsword, archaic weapon.

Rapier, archaic weapon.

Club, simple weapon.

52 points

35 points spent

= 17 points left.

Looks like you are doing this correctly. I haven't set maximums because buying heavily in on area can leave you short in others. If you would like to for flavor, you may rename Unarmed as a Martial Art (e.g. Karate, Aikido, Tai Chi, Boxing, ect.) and you are correct weapon skills are available for tagging, and the simple, martial, exotic weapons labels are meaningless. Looks like a monk type character. When you finalize the build, what kind of cellphone (Flip or Smart, Apple or Android) and if smart a few apps that may be on the phone. Once we finish your character, I will use these post to edit the framework for clarity.

EDIT

Thinking of spending the last 17 points...

3 to tag knowledge arcane lore, then 2 points to put it at 4 ranks.

12 points to buy three more +1s to defense.

So

knowledge arcane lore 4 ranks.

defense total +4.

0 points left.

Switch Arcane Lore to Occult Studies, because the arcane lore of the game world would not be studyable until you are in the game world but Occult Studies would be a synergistic similar field of study. Spending all points will leave you with no action points till at least level 2 remember, but that is up to you. Sansetsukon is the proper name of a three-section staff, and maybe the art of wielding, it as far I can find with quick research, not an unarmed martial art. Would prefer an unarmed art, or at least one that is both unarmed and armed for flavoring unarmed skill as weapons are there own skills. Looking good otherwise.

Thanks for the info. Will name the unarmed skill as kung fu, if that is okay.

Switching arcane lore to occult studies, 4 ranks in it.

Will chance not having action points and see how things go.

Meant to list three section staff as part of his equipment if that is okay, forgot that in d20 modern it was called three section staff and not sansetsukon.

All good if not allowed though, can do without it. 😃
