Jarah was on edge ever since the Astors came in. He had one foot outside the table if he had to move.

When Davin had been gone for what seemed like a long time, probably only minutes, he got up and walked to the door he went out.

This is taking entirely too long.

Jarah and Davin had been together since the beginning and he wasnt about to leave him alone for long. He pushed open the door and exited the building, hand on the hilt of his sword.

Davin and the Astors were gone. He looked around the area and saw no sign of them. He began scouring the ground for sign to track. Nothing. He took one last look around and walked back in to the others.

As soon as the Astors were through the door, Kokuten shifted his posture slightly, moving his foot to be able to leap up if needed. When Davin exited, he counted to five and had gotten up. If they were still there, he would excuse himself and go to the stables past them. But... It was doubtful. Nothing. He'd gone around the corner to investigate and did a circle around the inn. Still nothing. Casting his detection spell, he began to look into things. Jarah emerged, with the same idea. Kokuten said nothing.

DESCRIPTION Luna is a tall fit woman with pale white skin and white hair with kept in a long braid. She has alarmingly bright red eyes that almost seem to have a soft glow to them suggesting the possibility of supernatural influences in her past lineage. Without her armor, the edge of an old scar remains visible and her hands are rough and callused from her long hours of training also showing the faint silver of scales and small claws for fingernails. Her canine teeth started to elongate slightly into fangs with two other molars starting to sharpen as well. Despite her physical and frail appearance, Lunamaria is a lot stronger then her frame would suggest putting many a foe off guard. Seeing three watchtower mages enter for Davin, didn't sit well with Luna. It was only when he said it shouldn't take too long, Luna returned to her meal. Surely he would know if he was in trouble. She thought to herself with a sigh. Time slipped by as Jarah and Kokuten went to investigate. He better not have done something noble and get himself in trouble to keep us out of it. Or worse, lie to us.

When Medraut mentioned what Johnny said about being gunned for, Luna shook her head. "I would think we all would have been requested if we were in trouble...though I didn't care for their look." Standing up, Luna brought the great swords sheath into place as she went to see what the others were finding...or not. Damn. Something did happen.

As always happened when confronted with either clergy or Watchtower, his mental stowaway sent waves of anxiety to mix with his own nerves. Fortunately, he'd dealt with it enough that he was able to maintain a normal degree of apprehension anyone would feel under the gaze of an Astor. He briefly considered screening their emotions but dismissed it immediately. To do so now would leave his mind open and he honestly had no idea if they would detect the attempt, and that was even if it worked. He couldn't always read people, and he was sure an Astor would be harder than most.

He watched the young mage leave cautiously optimistic. If they were on to Davin, surely they wouldn't have just left the rest of them sitting there. Even outnumbered, he doubted the Astor's would have likely been able to deal with them all at once. He nodded as Luna's words mirrored his own thoughts. His mostly neutral expression finally descended into a concerned frown when Jarah informed them that the quad of wizards seemed to have departed. "That is . . . concerning. " He thought for a few moments more. "I still don't think they know about what we discovered. If they had, they likely would have asked after Kokuten or the sword. That doesn't mean it's not serious though, but I think that particular secret, and the resulting consequences, isn't involved with this." It was a mild comfort, but it was the best he could come up with at the moment.

Johnny watched the Astor come in, escort Davin out, and then seemingly teleport away with him.

Well... that just happened. All things considered, I guess it could have been more of us. They either dont see us as a threat without him, or they have no idea whats going on yet and its unrelated.

He looked back down at this drink.

If we lost out navigator though for the Gateways, I'm guess this puts it more on Medraut's friend for information if we're trying for that now? Or do we just move forward with the plan and work towards traveling to Masero? I can get us the escort job. Gets us to the capital. We stock on supplies, or work a few odd jobs there to save up. We can probably use a church portal to cut down on a majority of the travel but we'll need to be ready for the harsher climate once we're heading north of Frisia.

The bard glanced to Kokuten and then the black blade.

I'm assuming he'll be talkative again after a bit of time? Be able to track his immortal friend in the Frozen Wastes.

Kokuten returned and took his seat again, his expression grim. "No residual auras of the spell used for transport. Likely an Astor trick." He finally said, picking up his drink and taking a sip. His thoughts were all over the place: No Davin meant they'd have to use the Gateway blind. No Davin meant no black market connection to get the scroll and the mirror... Was he cruel to consider that before the mage's safety? What now, now that the Tower had him - and where? Mages wouldnt bother with torture, they'd just scan his mind. Must assume worst, when things already were bleak. "...I believe its unrelated. They have no reason to believe he's of worth as a hostage to us, and it isnt as if they couldnt easily find him anywhere thanks to the tattoo." He began to quickly finish his meal, listening to Johnny's words and nodding when appropriate. Putting his empty bowl down, he leaned back in his chair: "...There is no guarantee Medraut's connection will understand them as well as we need, and it is a risk to him. We will need a navigator... Even if to lose pursuers and search for the others. But we do not need one right this moment, I think. I would say get us the escort job, and we follow what you said. Davin's old plan... We may have another reason to visit the Tower now. But as we no longer have an exit strategy, we need to change our objective to Masero. The friend might be able to help with navigation... or other problems we have now." He paused, 'listening' for Khevlar's presence, and finding it - only silent. "...He's been quiet for a while. I... cant blame him after that kind of... Crime."

Junbaari nodded his agreement. "Keeping to the plan makes the most sense for now. We might need even more in way of funds if we have to travel to Masero the long way, but makes getting to Tarsis even more important." Junbaari held to the hunch that Davin wasn't in immediate danger, but even if the young mage was, there wasn't much to be done about it here. "What do you know about the roads to Tarsis from here? I admit my wanderings haven't taken me in that direction before." His gaze shifted between Johnny and Medraut as the most likely to know

Johnny took another drink looking to Junbaari.

No rails from Otari to any major city yet, despite the export trade with the fish. It'll come in time I'm sure but the war has prioritized it to more major cities for manufacturing and other political reasons. So it'll be on foot, or horseback. Not sure, if I can swing horses for everyone in the job. But the roads pretty well traveled. Also means its risk of highwaymen. Which is what he'd be there to protect against. Couple days travel because of the multiple wagons and slower movement to avoid damaging the goods. Occasional wandering beastie might come up on the roads, but given the regular amount of people its rare. They'd likely be sick or starving to risk it.

Luna thinks on what has been said. She is not too familiar with the Astor's or what they represent as she looks to the group. "So who are they in particular? The Astor's. I'm not too familiar with all the workings of the tower." She asks as she considers their next course of action.

Luna continues eating her stew as she agrees to go for Tarsis, speaking softly. "I think it's wise to leave Medraut's family out of the loop on what we found until we have a means of utilizing that resource in a meaningful way. It will keep them safer for longer. I don't mind taking on a caravan guard position...it is how I made my way down from the north after all. I certain prefer it over...you don't suppose that was why he was taken, Davin? Because they found out his ties to...the less then desirable side of the law?"

As she heard what the Astor's were it only affirmed the possibility she set fourth prior. "Perhaps it really was his ties to thieves that got him looked at." She said as she finished her stew. With her hair now dry she turned and opened her bag pulling out a brush to give her make sure there were no knots or tangles before she began braiding. Through the years on her own, she became quite adept in making sure no length of hair was long then the other to ensure a proper braid taking only a few minutes with the volume of hair she seems to have.

"I too have some coin on my person for a horse if need be. Oh, If they can track you by your...hmm Marking. We could take care of that little issue when leave town" Luna says as she ties the end of her braid to finish with it. She still needed to locate Tavros to give him back his dagger before they head out as well. It's amazing that for as much as the man seemed interested in her and how easy it was to first meet, that now that she was trying to find him was all but impossible. Be just my luck he gets some sort of joy having others try to find him.

Johnny stood up from the table.

I'll go back and talk to my father. Get the arrangements made. Hold off on buying any horses until I can confirm what I can get the company to provide upfront. And I'll verify payment. I can probably get gold up front given its my father. Use it in turn to buy the horses if we'd rather do it that way. Meet back here later tonight? Probably be a day or so getting everything loaded before we leave.

Junbaari nodded in agreement with Johnny's stated intentions, though he gave a chagrinned smile "I feel I should warn you that I'm not much of a rider. Still I should manage as long as the animal isn't feeling too difficult." He'd rarely had need to travel far from his village growing up and since his prudent exile, he hadn't had much occasion to acquaint himself with the saddle. Hopefully Otari stables had placid animals.

With Johnny's departure though, he grew somewhat more serious. "While Johnny is doing that I suppose we should see to getting our affairs in Otari settled. Other than perhaps getting some supplemental supplies, I don't have any pressing business."

Luna was starting to feel restless as things turned. She nodded on waiting for word on the job. Though she didn't feel she could sit idle either. Junbaari brings up a good point of settling a few loose ends, though she want to get out some nervous energy first before seeking out Tavros. As useful as it has been to speak normally, she does not want to forget and return the man's dagger to him.

Standing up from the table, Luna picks up her pack and sword. "I will need to seek someone out myself, though...I have some energy I need to burn. Refocus my thoughts."
