Notable Characters

spacer.png“Violet”

A girl without a past, Violet was awakened in the lair of the cult of Shiggarreb next to Domino, bare of possessions or memories.  Curious about the world around her, Violet displayed an exceptional capacity to absorb and integrate new information.

spacer.pngKhonnir Baine

Khonnir Baine moved from a life of nomadic drifting along the Sellen River with his adopted daughter Val to the small town of Torch in the autumn of 4692AR.  A forward-looking man, Khonnir has never spoken about his past beyond his establishing roots in the strange town with a purple column of flame at its hilltop.

During the time of his residing in Torch, Khonnir Baine has not only built a successful business of the Foundry Tavern, he has also afforded much to the town's burgeoning commerce and general welfare, sharing new techniques for smelting and recasting skymetal, and improving the town's water supply via the construction of a purification facility now known as Crowfeather Palace.

Despite repeatedly downplaying his contributions, Khonnir eventually found himself unanimously voted into Torch's Town Council.  In his role as councillor and one of the town's most learned leaders, citizens and fellow council members alike turn to Khonnir regularly for advice on many subjects including but not limited to arcana, alchemy, metallurgy, and mechanics.

spacer.pngZyrel

Descendant of elves from the Mordant Spire, Zyrel's parents served as Spire Envoys at the Varisian pirate haven city of Riddleport. Having been exposed to human society for most of his life, the elf sought a way to reconcile his arcane ability with the innovations of technology, which sparked an interest in the teachings of Amaznen, and a journey to to seek greater knowledge than the City of Cyphers could offer.

spacer.pngMatuq

Orphaned from birth, Matuq never knew the faces or identity of his parents. Instead, the half-orc has always regarded Joram Kyte as his adoptive father, having been brought in and raised under the roof of Torch's Temple of Brigh for as long as he can recall.

Apprenticing under the priest of Brigh gave him an opportunity to work directly with Khonnir Baine, as the priesthood collaborated closely with the genius inventor in the construction of the first and only water purification facility in town.

Having had a taste of the unconventional use of mechanics combined with arcane magic, Matuq obtained permission from Joram Kyte to continue his studies under Val's father, and continues currently to assist in the maintenance and monitoring of Crowfeather Palace.

spacer.pngSanvil Trett

A traveling merchant and tinkerer, Sanvil Trett makes his way from town to town across Southern Numeria regularly.

Even though not a local of Torch himself, Sanvil is undisputedly one of the few experts in town who has a working knowledge of the many strange technological items one might find.

spacer.pngCouncillor Dolga Freddert

Having been present at Torch's founding over a century ago, Dolga Freddert is the town's oldest councillor. Though she may readily admit that her body has grown old, her mind and spirit has definitely remained sharp and energetic in her advanced age.

Frustrated with what she has come to call "desk riding" at Town Hall, the councillor would likely much rather be hands on solving the problems herself, though she is wise enough to understand how much the townsfolk have come to rely on the council's good leadership, and the shock that they've endured from the news of Councillor Baine's disappearance.

spacer.pngCouncillor Joram Kyte

Originally Torch's religious leader, Joram Kyte's friendly demeanour, active interest in the metal trade, and innovative crafting skills earned him a seat on the town council many years ago.

Those who remember will credit Father Kyte's and his priests for their part in helping build Crowfeather Palace, the local water purification facility.

Joram's temple sees regular worship from many of the town's citizens, and also houses a meticulously organized workshop and a small shopfront as well.
