Clad in soft but rugged leathers with some plant matter adorning the shoulders and back, he looked as if he had just stepped out of the forest rather than being a citizen of any kind. A gnarled bow, a quiver and a long blade hung in a harness over his back.

He was studying the ivy covering the house, gently holding a leaf between his darkly clawed fingers without ripping it off. Letting go of it, deeming it as ordinary climbing ivy, he nodded towards the curly-haired student. Feeling a little puzzled still over the city and its people, how money worked and the guild, he just opted to follow orders for now. He would try to be patient... some day he would be the one giving them out.

"I agree. If everyone's here... let's not waste time. I am Gen, at your service as a sworn protector and eyes - as per agreement." He tapped the newly acquired badge around his neck with a claw. He seemed serious but didn't curtsy, just stood his ground unblinking.

As someone who has gotten some amount of training in manners, Luna would give a small bow to the man, her hands fumbling awkwardly at her sides as she tries to get a hold of the skirt that has been replaced with pants ever since she became an adventurer, and her backpack making her take a step forward as she unfolds her bent knees.

“Good day to you. I am Luna Stellasumus. I may not be familiar with the Underwarrens, but I hope I can be of some help for the next few days. Do you have any idea as to who might be the student that we are tasked with helping?”

Though they were about to meet pretty soon, Luna was a bit curious. She knew about the mage and the reason why they were here and it only made her wonder about what kind of person might come out, and what kind of things she could learn from them.

 

Fire Mage IngramIngram looks her over appreciatively, hooking a thumb under his iron badge. "Never mind this - that would be me. The headmistress had more pressing business, and I've been down there before."

"Are you a fencer, then?" he asks, eyeing her rapier.

 

 

Luna"This sword is more of an heirloom. I am more of a mage, specialising in Illusion magic. Please open your hand."

For a demonstration, she creates a small rock into his hand. As a simple illusion, the rock is weightless, but the surface still feels rough, even if pressing a little into the rock, the hand easily disappear through. 

"I would love to know more about your field of magic, but we will have more than enough time to talk about it!"

 

Fire Mage IngramIngram rubs it a bit, noting the coarse texture. He tries to toss the 'rock', but his hand phases right through, the illusion hanging in midair.

Lighting Dance: When Olenna is wielding the Charged Rapier she gains a +2 to all melee based defense actions using Fight. 

Magnetic Attraction:  The Charged Rapier is extremely dangerous against Metal Objects and when used against something metal gain a +2 Weapon Value upon successful attacks.

Under normal circumstances Olenna would never come to a place like this, but the need for money would make her pick up any request. This one seemed simple enough for her. This was only her second week within the city of Alexius. She knew no body and everyone looked and talked so different than what she was used to. She was excited but over stimulated by how much culture could be different across the great ocean. Walking through the entrance she would notice a group of adventures standing around. " This must be my party, I will thank that Rolia lady next time I see her." 

Finally next to the group, she would do a small waving gesture to everyone. " Hello, I think I am on this quest with you all." She would pull out the Request Note that had the details on it. " I've never been inside the underwarrens - I hope that me traveling with you all doesn't cause too much of an issue."

He folds his arms. "Waiting on the last one. Might just head on in if they don't show up soon. Not my problem if they don't get paid."

 a quick spell, summoning magelightThis summoning produces a pale flickering akin to torchlight, hovering in midair, and capable of following its master's commands. to one hand. "Follow" he snaps at it. It floats silently above his shoulder as he opens a hatch and climbs down a rusting ladder.

Lit only by magelight, you descend into the Underwarrens - a maze of catacombs and storm sewers. It seems much older than the city above. Here the tunnels are broad, with high-arching ceilings and slick stone walls. A channel filled with water runs through the middle.

You step onto the ledge running along the side of the tunnel, sending the local vermin scurrying for cover.

At first, Luna is very happy to tag along inside of the dusty cellar, a place she is used to seeing from her times as Tsuki. However, as soon as they descend a bit further, her face starts to light up. She doesn't care for the vermins one bit, even if she is afraid that a rat would come by at any moment to bite her shin, but it is the very dated look of the place that really seems to make her happy.

 

"I could imagine this place being popular with some of the arcane crowd. Wet atmosphere aside, there is certainly a charm to this place. "

The young man with the horns was feeling a little apprehensive about venturing into the darkness. He didn't spend much time inside structures, they made him feel trapped and helpless. And also since it was pitch dark and he could not see in the dark. Outside, there was usually always enough ambient light to see something even in the night. But he was proud and eager to prove himself.

"I can stand first. I have sword. If something bigger than rat comes along. But I can't see well. So can there be more light?" The somewhat jumpy boy gestured to the blade on his back, then to his blue eyes, only dimly lit by Ingram's arcane globule. He looked back at the lady with the rapier. 


"Lu-una. You do lights too? Can you do one to guide me?" Gen inquired, pronouncing the name a bit funkily.

Olenna would hold onto the wall to support herself from slipping from the grim covered floor. " Mr, Ingram would you like me to head up front as well or keep our cover in the back?" The smell of harsh sulfur made her cover her face with a rag. " It stinks worse than though plagued by hades down here."

"A light, you say? While I used to create small, static lights, I do not know if it would be possible to make a dynamic one."

For a moment, Luna focuses on Gen, trying to create some semblance of a light source. She does not know how to do it, but pictures the flickering flame of a wisp, standing on his shoulder. After a moment, a wisp appears, flickering weakly in and out of existence, producing a light that isn't the brightest. 

"This may not be much, but hopefully, it is enough."

Gen nodded approvingly to Luna. His face was stoic in the dim light.

"Good. It'll help a bit. I'm used to dim light" He murmured.

 

With the help of the faint light, he started focusing his clear blue eyes on the dark corners and bends and shadows, trying to make out whether they were just shadows, or something nefarious. 

 

As he peered into the dimly lit corridor, seeing ahead enough to tell apart things, his watchful eye rested onward.

 

"Ingram. Let me know when to take a turn or stop" He was putting the navigational trust into the young scholar.

Scene: Down in the Tunnels

You are in a maze of catacombs and storm sewers. You are lit only by magelight - one wisp from Ingram, another from Luna.  There are vermin scurrying for cover. Ingram is uncomfortable working with strangers. Gen is keeping a watchful eye on your surroundings.

Luna's tie grants your party one free invoke on magelight. Gen has one free invoke on watchful.

I have three fate points left in this scene.

Ingram gestures, and his wisp glides forward along the ledge, lighting your way through the Underwarrens. Adapting to the gloom, you become aware of countless beady eyes watching your every movement from the shadows. The channel flows back the way you came; you are moving upstream.

You pass a fork in the tunnel, crossing a bridge over the channel. Ahead you hear the thunder of rushing water, and come to a chamber dominated by a large pool. Your ledge hugs the side; water cascades from the upper levels onto it, blocking your progress. The air here is fresh, and the currents swift.

 

Fire Mage Ingram"Uhh, well. That's different."

He turns to the others. "Not sure where to go from here. Maybe back at the fork..?"

"Ingram. The red moss. Do you know if it prefers dirty or clean environment?" The boy asks without turning around, his eyes on the area ahead.

He was really keen on getting out of this place as fast as possible, but his navigational skills were lost in a place like this. He could tell where he was by the sun and the stars... but the maze they currently were in made him feel nothing but anxious.

Luna would press her hand to the cascade, letting the water run through her finger while she was thinking. She had never really used the underwarrens, and there was nothing she could do except maybe try to go through, but going through would be pretty annoying currently, as there is a strong current and the risk of falling in the water are great

"There may be a way to progress if someone can redirect the flow, even if they do not stop it."

 

 

Fire Mage Ingram"Mind your footing, there." Ingram said nervously, holding out a hand.

Aspects and Invokes

Ingram leads you back to the fork. The channel water flows downstream on either side; peering down the left passage reveals your walkway ending at an alcove, where a skiff rocks gently against a stone jetty. The right passage has a lowered ceiling, and seems to slope downwards, but its walkway continues.

Both passages curve out of sight, towards the Tower.

Song of Storms: When Olenna is weilding the Charged Rapier Once per engagement she is able to swing her sword towards the sky and create a "Thunder Storm" Aspect on the zone with one free invoke. This storm lasts until the end of the engagement or until it is narratively overcome. 

Lighting Dance: When Olenna is wielding the Charged Rapier she gains a +2 to all melee based defense actions using Fight. 

Magnetic Attraction:  The Charged Rapier is extremely dangerous against Metal Objects and when used against something metal gain a +2 Weapon Value upon successful attacks.
