I've made tables in my first post of this thread to keep track of anything I pick up along the way. Reflected is the loss of Maude and gaining a spear.

I added Alphonse to my character list. Tabitha will give him the wool robe and beastman spear.

I looked up the occupations, but apprentice isn't on there, so I don't know what weapon he'll be automatically trained with. (I know it doesn't matter until level 1.)

Level zero characters are kind of equally bad with all weapons, so it's fine. Alphonse would be an apprentice in some kind of trade, you should pick what trade that is.

He's a young man, about sixteen years old.

Yeah, I saw that; they waive the non-proficiency penalty. I like the part where playtesting saw deaths skyrocket XD

The narrative makes sense his mother would have made him learn the business, and thus apprentice as a jeweler. But he's young and rebellious and may very well have gotten more learning done under some off-time lessons in something else. 

I'll chew on it overnight.

I'll probably break Tabitha's heart with this choice, but I think I'll have Alphonse choose to be a Mercenary's apprentice. Some guy that passes through town every few months that has a layover in our village for about a week. He took pity on Alphonse and started teaching him to use a sword.

Alphonse is also wearing one of the cultist robes.
