rogueblade0729 Posted May 2 Author Clone Share Posted May 2 One has the right combination of character traits to make it happen. Storyteller especially seems to me that he knows how to grab and hold attention. Not even gonna make you roll for it. I encourage you all to use your skills in similar ways going forward, too! Also recall you can use them for mechanical benefits, such as adding d4s to dice rolls or gaining Inspiration. rogueblade0729 Posted May 4 Author Clone Share Posted May 4 Excellent! Unfortunately I've run very much out of time this weekend for MW stuff--tomorrow is dedicated to visiting family, and the day after is studying for an exam + presentation on Monday--so you all can expect a battle map and our first combat post on Monday. If I don't remember to post by Monday night / Tuesday morning, feel free to @ me so we can keep this rolling! grimlock Posted May 7 Clone Share Posted May 7 I moved Leofwyn into position, she will charge in after Orn begins the attack. Name xDiceName xDiceResult xDiceString xDiceRolls
rogueblade0729 Posted May 10 Author Clone Share Posted May 10 Alright alright! Orn one-shots an enemy, and everyone else deals some pretty respectable damage to the others. @codexgigas and @Old_Skuul are both up! Btw, I forgot to add +2 damage to Léofwyn's sword attack from Aelfric's strong quality. I only added the +4 from charge. rogueblade0729 Posted May 11 Author Clone Share Posted May 11 Gotcha! +2 doesn't kill him, but it's better than a sharp stick in the eye, as my dad always says! Name xDiceName xDiceResult xDiceString xDiceRolls
grimlock Posted yesterday at 02:04 PM Clone Share Posted yesterday at 02:04 PM I posted without looking at the roll20 map and just saw Orn moved behind the brigand leader, would Aelfic and Léofwyn gain advantage? If so I'll nix the inspiration use. Name xDiceName xDiceResult xDiceString xDiceRolls
rogueblade0729 Posted yesterday at 04:43 PM Author Clone Share Posted yesterday at 04:43 PM Yes, you would! I added Aelfric's advantage roll in your post, and he hit. Name xDiceName xDiceResult xDiceString xDiceRolls
rogueblade0729 Posted yesterday at 04:48 PM Author Clone Share Posted yesterday at 04:48 PM @Old_Skuul Unfortunately, you can't deal nonlethal damage with a ranged weapon unless you have special ammunition for it. A blunted arrow, a net, something like that. None of these are very expensive--I'd even let you craft them with an ability check using a tool proficiency--but RAW you'd only be able to deal lethal damage from distance. However, Leofwyn and Aelfric dealt just enough damage to reduce the Brigand to 1 HP, so if you kill the Footpad, there's a good chance he'll just surrender on the spot. Of course, you could also show the footpad mercy if you'd rather not kill him. Name xDiceName xDiceResult xDiceString xDiceRolls
rogueblade0729 Posted yesterday at 04:59 PM Author Clone Share Posted yesterday at 04:59 PM Oh, note for the whole Company! On your turns, anyone can spend an Action to convince the bandits to surrender, if you would rather not kill them all. There's no Shadow points associated with killing them while they still fight, but you've weaken their resolve enough now that this is attainable: a DC 13 Intimidation check is all you need to succeed on. You will gain equal amounts of XP regardless of who lives or who dies. But, depending on whether you choose to kill or spare them, you may earn some favor with certain people who learn of your deeds, lowering the DCs of Audiences you hold with different NPCs. If you have a relevant character trait for your decision, you will also earn Inspiration, or if you already have it, a bonus to your Arrival roll.
