Backstory

Michellangelo "Michell" Mills always lived by his charms. Going through school he got excellent grades by befriending the right eggheads, and as an adult he graduated to sweet-talking the riches off of the wealthy and foolish. He isn't lazy, per se - he works hard at his skills as a con artist, including practicing martial arts as a fallback when a scheme turns sour on him. He just considers it ridiculous to not use the most efficient method available, and for him that method has always been a dazzling smile and a cunning lie.

Michell is cheerful and genial, everyone's friend. He genuinely doesn't bear any malice to the people he exploits, even when they manage to turn the tables on him; he considers it perfectly fair for them to outsmart him, if they can. When part of a group he tries to keep on good terms with everyone and encourage teamwork and internal harmony, all while keeping an eye on his own escape route in case things go wrong.

Secretly, he's starting to chafe under the strictures of a life spent in disguise, and to develop a taste for something more permanent; real respect, real power, and most definitely real money. And as for how to get that... well, the most efficient method to get anything has always, for him, been to steal it.

Complications

Motivation: Ambition. Michell is hoping to find something that can put him into the big leagues, something that will let him make a name for himself instead of constantly having to move on, change his identity and look for a new mark. Tremendous amounts of money would do in a pinch, but something that might get him some actual superpowers would be even better. Half of being a successful superhero is image, the way he sees it, and who knows better than him how to look good?

Enemies. Michell has spent perhaps a bit longer in this city than he should have, and it means having to dodge angry ex-marks. A number of people are looking for him under a number of different names, and it's only a matter of time before they get together and realises that he's the one who conned all of them.
