datedinator Posted April 11, 2023 Author Clone Share Posted April 11, 2023 Oswald Minit Magical Practitioner | Refresh 2 High Concept | Self-Taught Demon SummonerOswald is a wizard who has taught himself the art of demon summoning, without the guidance of a mentor or formal education. His self-taught methods can lead to unpredictable and sometimes dangerous results. Invoke: To summon a demon, to have unique knowledge of demon summoning, to think outside the box Compel: To experience unexpected consequences from a summoning, to be mistrusted by other wizards, to face a demon he can't control Trouble | Skirting By On TechnicalitiesOswald has a knack for finding loopholes and bending rules to his advantage, often avoiding the consequences of his actions by exploiting technicalities. This behavior has led to a strained relationship with most of the authority figures in San Francisco, especially the Wardens. Invoke: To avoid trouble through a loophole, to exploit a rule in his favor, to talk his way out of a sticky situation Compel: To get caught in his own web of deceit, to have others distrust his motives, to create enemies due to his questionable actions Aspect III | Leading From the RearOswald prefers to take a more indirect approach to leadership, guiding others from a distance and letting them take the brunt of the action. While this can keep him out of harm's way, it may also lead to others questioning his courage or commitment. Invoke: To delegate tasks, to strategize from a safe distance, to give advice without taking direct action Compel: To be seen as cowardly, to have others doubt his leadership, to face consequences for not being present when needed Aspect IV | "If I Knew Better, I'd Do Better"Oswald is aware of his own limitations, often recognizing that if he had more knowledge or experience, he would make better choices. While this self-awareness can lead to personal growth, it can also result in moments of self-doubt and hesitance. Invoke: To learn from past mistakes, to seek out knowledge to improve, to be humble in the face of criticism Compel: To second-guess himself, to be hesitant in decision-making, to feel overwhelmed by the weight of his ignorance Aspect V | Moral Isn't Always EthicalOswald believes in doing what he thinks is right, even if it means bending or breaking established ethical rules. His moral compass is strong, but it can lead him into conflict with those who prioritize strict adherence to ethical guidelines. Invoke: To justify a morally-driven action, to find creative solutions to ethical dilemmas, to stand up for his beliefs Compel: To clash with authority figures, to face consequences for breaking rules, to be seen as morally ambiguous by others Approaches Good (+3) | Focus Fair (+2) | Flair, Haste Average (+1) | Intellect, Guile Mediocre (+0) | Force Conditions [1][1][1][1][1] Stress [4] In Peril [6] Doomed [ ][ ][ ][ ][ ] Indebted [ ] Exhausted [ ] Burned Out Stunts Evocation: See p. 140. Thaumaturgy: You excel at ritual magic. Add +2 to the preparation roll for any ritual. Soulgaze: When looking someone directly in the eye for more than a few seconds, you peer into their soul and they likewise see into yours. The exchange manifests itself as a cryptic vision. Make a Focus roll, opposed by their Focus roll; the winner learns one concrete, useful piece of information about the other individual, or two things if the winner succeeds with style. On a tie, each person learns something. These things can be advantages with a free invoke at the GM’s discretion. Debt Broker: You have a network of supernatural contacts you trade favors with regularly. As long as you have sufficient time to make deals among your contacts, you clear a box of Indebted automatically every milestone. Quid Pro Quo: Whenever you cast a summoning ritual, you may mark one box of Indebted instead of any one cost. The debt is owed to the creature summoned, and they will expect payment before they return home. Cunning Negotiator: You gain a +2 bonus to checks made to negotiate contracts or deals, or to catch loopholes or sneaky tricks in the wording.
