It sounds like an elven name almost, and in many trips when summoned he appeared as one, much to the dismay of more than a few elven maidens. But that was just a means to an end, a way to siphon the power he needed to become a mighty wielder of the arcane energies.  And he'd just about made it too, the power he'd refined over eons was enough to make his name known to the power players.  Perhaps he was just a bishop now, or maybe just a well placed pawn, but he was on the board.  He could tell the major powers were considering where he was positioned, how his loyalties were placed.  Among the endless hordes of demons, he'd risen to the point where the power he wielded made him a name.  One the masses would defer to, and the lords at least acknowledge.


That's how he got brought into the project, a grand scheme, so many powerful demons working to have influence and prestige from it.  He wasn't the least surprised at the threats, bribes and assassination attempts (though none were really serious, more just power checks to make sure he was truly a wielder of the highest sorceries) that the appointment to the gate crafting team brought.


 Perhaps he was just a little too full of himself at having pulled off the placement and the opportunity to network with all the other powerful spellcasters. Perhaps he should have shown up on time to the gathering just days before the final activation... when he recalls arriving and being informed he'd been chosen to be one of the architects of the gate to go in the first activation.  He didn't hear all the logic behind why, perhaps it was to reassure the other demons that it was indeed going to work.  Or to reassure the devils that it was going to work. Or maybe it was just some power scheme the yugoloths had thrown in to ensure both sides were kept slightly off balance.  There might have been more theories in his head at one point, but that was before the disaster of the activation.


He firmly remembers seeing the magic buckle and shake, the sudden realization that it is going to go much, much worse than even his worst expectations.  Though why ... that knowledge is gone, so much refinement of power burned away in those moments just to retain a kernel of his existence and mind intact through the ordeal.  Survival was all that mattered, almost everything else sacrificed to that goal, because if you survive, you can recover.

 

And perhaps even one day he'll figure out what the Third Waterfall refers to, as for now it is just the title he can remember, not the why or the how of it.

 

Appearance

Slender build with long, slightly unkempt silver hair and ash grey eyes, if one overlooks the wings, Julien would be downright handsome to the eyes of many dwellers of the prime.  However, to the hosts of the Abyss, he looks weak and unthreatening. A look that his preference for going shirtless with snug leather pants doesn't do anything to allay.

Replacing Tongues as a Lesser Incubus Power: Arcane Sight (2nd 1/day, 4th 3/day, 6th at will)

Flight moves to being a lesser power: Fly (50' Average) (2nd 1/day, 4th 3/day, 6th at will, at 10min/lvl with the wings)

Otherwise everything follows Table A-46, less summoning.

Updated advancement information to refactor for the 3.5 Incubus

Racial Traits

  • Starting Ability Score Adjustments: +2 Dex, +6 Cha
  • Speed: Incubus land speed is 30 feet.
  • Darkvision: Incubi can see in the dark up to 60 feet.
  • Poison Immunity: Incubi are native to a plane where poison is omnipresent
  • Skills: +8 bonus on Spot checks.
  • Automatic Languages: Abyssal, Celestial, and Draconic

Class Skills: Concentration, Craft, Disguise, Escape Artist, Hide, Knowledge (any 1 - The Planes chosen skill at 1st), Move Silently, Search, and Spot

Change Shape: An incubus can assume the form of any Small or Medium humanoid, with specific forms chosen at 1st and 3rd level, going to any form at 5th

Energy Drain: An incubus embrace/kiss will bestow one negative level and also has the effect of a suggestion spell, asking the victim to accept another embrace/kiss.

Sheet viewing problems fixed.

Charm monster is a 3rd lvl spell (for a bard, you can always take lowest possible), should be move to lesser powers.

etherial jaunt and greater teleport are greater powers, you have the progression correct but my OCD needs you to change the group name

Other wise looks good.

Group name changed.  Seems in SS if there were only two groups they would drop the 'greater' from the group name, even if the powers belonged in the greater group classification.

Indeed... thanks for the catch. I must have messed up the initial table write up when the character was created. Updated table and level up information... Now to get work to leave me alone enough to finish reading all the posts and crawl out from underneath some debris or something :)

Do we want to work out a “previously on fiends” dynamic?
 

I am considering Shillereese as rather gender-fluid. I can lean in to more-mostly female identity if this cuts into your theme.

Also. Shill was (prior to the gate explosion) a Lilitu and considers their current status a significant demotion.
