Unmerge Topics?

Hello amazing wonderful incredible dev team...

 

So, I messed up. I wanted to move a few misplaced posts from an OOC to an IC thread, and I thought selecting them and using the Merge function was the way to go. Instead, I merged ALL of the posts from both threads.

Is there a way to un-bork this?

Uh... Yes, it's possible, but No, there's no way more convenient than:

(1) Select the original post of the second thread and Split it to a new thread;

(2) Select each post in the merged thread that belongs in the second thread and Move it (not Merge) to the thread created in (1).

In this case there are a couple of hundred posts. If I'm understanding you correctly the only thing to do is to re-create the IC thread and then manually move (not merge) the posts one page at a time?

You can move multiple posts at a time by selecting the checkboxes for the relevant posts and selecting the Move icon from the multi-edit toolbar that will appear at the bottom of the screen.

It looks like the action I'm looking for is "Split" => "Existing Forum" and then I'd paste in the new IC forum URL?

No, not quite. Select the first post of what should be the IC thread. Then Split => New Topic:

That will create a separate thread in the same forum.
