remy_atmo_smug.png.9d9d95e105b94b9fda3afc7b5f91b127.pngRemy took notice of the event that moved furthest from the crowd out of the corner of her eye, finished taking one more breath, and let her body fluidly realign the barrel towards the target, pulling the trigger as the vector of the bullet's flight path intersected with the intended destination.

She then froze for a split second, assessing the result and mentally preparing for the next shot.

  • 2 weeks later...

No.17 managed to successfully subdue his attacker as he quickly fell to the floor after being struck.

Remy's target also successfully fell to the ground as her bullet managed to incapacitate the target. Sadly for the target, its group members did not turn around to save them thus decided to leave them there.

Within seconds, the other military soldiers had made it to No.17 and assisted him in handcuffing and escorting the subject to their Humvee.

remy_atmo_warm.png.af34fdb01c482524f083be1f73818e49.pngFor the first time in hours, Remy sighed in relief, allowing herself to truly relax for a moment.

The event was ruined, sure. But the bad stuff that happened was well handled. Damage control was working. The team's intervention was a success. So far.

And then she snapped back to attention. So far. The workday wasn't over. They should continue keeping an eye on things until the VIP's return to the high-security area.

And so she returned to looking for more threats while 17 handled the situation on the ground.

No.17

"..." No.17 was silent as he watched the suspect cuffed and roughly handled into the back of a waiting van, no doubt armored and with an escort to take them to some very dark and cramped cells. However, there was the faintest of frowns present on his face. In his mind, if the intel had been better, perhaps they could have bagged the lot of them, and neatly transported them down to hidden facilities where they could be made to speak far more quickly and efficiently than the law would allow. Raising a hand, he waved lightly to indicate that he was alright, ignoring the twinge of pain in his side. The wound was light and could be tended to early on. Moving forward, he began slipping through the commotion to get to the VIP, in order to escort her out.

No. 17 managed to quickly reach the back of the stage in order to get to the Lesandra Glenn who was the VIP of the event. Currently she was being held in place by the Congo Private Security Team who was also charged with guarding the president. Once close enough the Security would nod to No.17 who was then placed in control of Lesandra and she was quickly escorted to the Humvee to be taken to safety.

While this was happening, another person would hop onto the stage and with a Bullhorn begin playing a recorded entry from a small device. The message being played was that of the Congo President and a Famous Terrorist who was known to have been operating within the Red Zones outside of the City. Before it could finish the person was removed from the stage and the bullhorn removed. When the crowd realized what just had happened, violence quickly began to ensue.

Before No.17 was able to get Lesandra to the Humvee, they were clearly surrounded by hostile civilians. Within seconds they began to attempt to grab at her in order to take her hostage or maybe even attack her. " Please dont hurt us!" Lesandra would beg them as she attempted to evade being grabbed.

The Civilians would attempt at grabbing ahold of Lesandra +5.

No.17

"...Politics" Normally, nobody would have heard the faintest murmur leave No.17's lips, save for Remy through her communicator. No.17's voice was wry with irony and a hint of weary contempt. He had begun, unconsciously, down that most particular route unique to intelligence agents and similarly grey agents of the state, who began to recognize the inherent flaws that such policies might produce. When the civilians began turning against them, No.17 pulled out an extendable baton and extended it length-wise, using it to push back the crowd. He wasn't about to lay about it just yet, but he was certainly shoving the most eager ones away in an attempt to clear up space for an escape with the Principal.

17 was successful at getting Lesandra back to safety within the Humvee. Once that was done it was clear that the event quickly turned into a hostile protest against the President. One of the Team Leads would make the call for the group to head back to the base as the city was no longer safe to deal with.

For the next few days, things with the Congo Capital and GlenCore were shaky, as civilians had completely taken over the ports and were refusing to allow Glen Core or City workers from importing or exporting goods necessary to upkeeping the POH. Other representatives of NATO were sent into the city in hopes of being able to talk with the President but he was confirmed to be missing in action.

None of this was good, and if the situation continued down this path the city would most likely need to be taken over by NATO forces before WARSAW could.

After a week of the presidents failing attempt at gaining back public trust and control over his populace, it was certain that things were not going to simply go back to normal within the capital. The Civilians had completely pushed out all of NATO and Warsaw assets while still keeping control over GlenCore materials.

The ODST Team was then informed that they would be sent on a mission alongside the Rangers to gain control over the Ports which held POH Materials. It was going to be their job to support ground infantry in gaining control over the port and allowing for shipping operations to continue.

Upon arrival with the Mecha's most of the Civilians quickly removed themselves from the area and those who did not were swiftly arrested by the Ground units.

The Goal was to await for the USS Sandy to arrive and load the POH Materials on board. Once that was completed the team was to exfil back to base Hayward.

The Ranger Mecha Team would quickly set up positions on Alpha and Bravo Entrance. [Invokable: X2 Guards on Duty]

There were three areas within the Port.

Entrance Alpha: Littered with inoperable cars

Shipping Yard: Filled with Large Containers of POH Materials and other Goods.

Entrance Bravo: Littered with inoperable cars

No.17

The soft, reassuring hum of Lie Vante always managed to relax No.17 by inestimably small degrees, even though arguably, he was in more danger. Here, the qualities of the pilot did matter, but not so much as the mettle of the machine. Still, exchanging brief communiques with Remy, he nodded. Lie Vante entered Entrance Alpha after the scanning had concluded, treading lightly with cam-shielding engaged.

As the both of them pressed forward, they both would realize that the area had been completely cleared out. Infantry Units moved in and managed to take up security based positions to ensure that no civilian could make entry without notice. As the hours went by, a group of civilians would gather at the Alpha Entrance which forced majority of the ground security to focus their efforts to that zone. Some of the civilians would even begin to throw rocks at the Ground Units positions in an attempt to hurt NATO Troops.

After a few hours, the Airship USS Sandy could be seen in the horizon.

No.17

Inspecting the civilians, No.17 tapped his armrest thoughtfully. In an extreme case, they could always use their Mechs to clear the civilians out, although the PR fallout would be equally extreme. However, if the infantry was forced to focus on clearing the crowd out, No.17 suspected further groups would be filtering their way inside. "There should be some mines detonated a safe distance away, but close enough to spook, perhaps. Give the cover of terrorists having mined the entire place to blow, that we're mine-sweeping. That should persuade the civilians to keep a safe distance, if nothing else, and give pause to the enemy's reinforcement, who might not know if we've done it or not."

The Ground Force Team Leader would hear No.17's suggestion and simply respond. " Throwing out mines with this many witnesses is probably not a good idea. But I do agree these civilians need to be cleared out, they are starting to cause trouble and its getting hard to see what's really going on out there."
