Appearance Short and compact by eleven standards, or even human ones, Zyrel doesn't seem particularly threatening at first glance. He moves with a certain lazy grace that might attract attention from anyone who understands the truth of "Slow is Smooth" but tends to lull less perceptive people into complacency around him. He is otherwise a fairly typical Ekujae elf, perhaps a bit lighter skinned than most and given to dressing in human fashions, but hardly remarkable. Background You know how in college there's always that one guy that's a bit older than everyone else? That's Zyrel. In this case of course, he's a lot older than almost any non-elf, but even in terms of relative life span, he's into early middle age. At a point in his life where most elves have begun to settle down, he's still flighty and immature, bouncing about between various professions. He's been everything from a hunter to apprentice smith to freelance recoverer of stolen items (usually by just buying them back, the trick is FINDING them). In fact, this isn't even his first time at the Magaambya, though the first time he dropped out almost immediately to chase off after a notorious half elven bard (the less said about that the better). He has, in recent years, come to accept there are some things he's just not particularly good at and started concentrating a bit more on those he can master (well, it sounded nice when he first said it, and he almost sort of means it). He definitely had his work cut out for him, convincing the Magaambya to let him come back, though it probably didn't hurt that his first foray was around sixty years ago. Personality When you keep your eyes open, everything is a learning experience. That's the fundamental rule Zyrel runs on, crossed with a strong current of "let's have some fun" that causes some real trouble for him academically, given the choice between learning new things in a classroom and going downriver to Bloodcove (which certainly involved learning some new things), it's usually a safe bet which he will pick. Further, he doesn't seem to place any higher value on say, the academic study of history than on learning which gangs control which parts of town or the best way to skin game. Zyrel is more than a bit excitable and prone to impulsive actions (though rarely dangerous ones, if he wants to know what THIS button does, he starts by reading labels, tracing connections etc, not just pushing it. Besides, he wants to know HOW it does as much as WHAT it does. THEN he pushes it.) Zyrel is a bit lazy, he's quite capable of hard work when he feels the need, he just doesn't feel it very often. His basic friendliness does mean he's more likely to pitch in on a piece of hard work than he is to attempt such on his own. Of course, his 'help' might consist mostly of suggestions, but at least they will probably be good ones. Note that lazy mostly relates to actual 'work', he's quite capable of expending great effort in the name of 'fun'.
