I'm also new to D&D, but not new to role playing, and have always been fascinated with sword and sorcery story telling. Hopefully I'll be able to get my bearings and fit in somewhere. You get a lot of advantages of the written format, and if you get a good pace going, it's at least pretty steady, even if not as much happens in a given "session" than does in tabletop.
