Start with 1 hero point at level 1, and gain 1 Hero point each level, mainly cause I keep forgetting to give them out.

Free archetype rule in play. This is usually only for Druid or Wizard, for this campaign, but I am allowing any of the class archetypes instead.

Automatic Bonus Progression in play. Both current and new characters can adjust to reflect this. As an optional thing, if you like, you may make a note flavor wise of how you see this happening.

Fundamental Runes is the standard rule. https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=738

A PC can find, or buy, runes and etch them on items to make them magical. Or move them from an item to another

Example would be adding a Weapon potency rune to a longsword makes it a +1 Longsword, which could then be further upgraded to, for example, +1 striking Longsword by adding Striking rune.

Automatic Bonus Progression is an alternative rule : https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=1357
This variant removes the item bonus to rolls and DCs usually provided by magic items (with the exception of armor’s item bonus) and replaces it with a new kind of bonus—potency—to reflect a character’s innate ability instead. In this variant, magic items, if they exist at all, can provide unique special abilities rather than numerical increases.

So instead of buying or finding a longsword +1, ALL level 2 characters get Attack potency +1 as part of level up. They would all get Skill potency at Level 3 (which gives one skill +1), they would get the equivalent of Striking at level 4, and so on.

Attack potency gives you +1 to attack rolls with all weapons and unarmed attacks, which is the same as having a +1 weapon potency rune on all your weapons (and unarmed strikes).
This makes characters (a bit) more powerful, as they no longer need to spend time/money on seeking better weapons or improving their own weapons with runes. And it means a character who uses different weapons doesn't have to decide which weapons to apply his runes to. They get defensive bonuses as they level too.

Pathfinder expects characters of a certain level to have weapons and armour with magical bonuses, and this way a DM doesn't have to worry about making sure people are getting enough magic weapons, gold, armour, etc as it is 'baked in' to the characters themselves. The DM can focus on giving magic items that give extra abilities rather than making sure the fighter got the +1 sword.

Study checks and downtime:

Each 'semester' is a period of three months, typically occurring after completing a chapter and gaining a new level. You make a study check during that time.

During each month you have up to a week for downtime activities; earning income, retraining, etc.

There is a stipend of 4gp/month as well.

There are benefits as you gain each rank in your chosen branch. Upon reaching rank 3 in your primary branch you gain the Magaambya attendant dedication feat.

Items in ABP

(this is a recollection, and needs double checking with LDDragon)

+1 items may exist even with ABP rules to allow broadening character abilities. These bonuses would never stack with ABP bonuses. This gives players more freedom and choice if they want to invest their hard- earned loot in bonuses to multiple skills.

Character wealth by level:

New characters joining have been told this far to use half the wealth by level given in this table.
