Detailed Description

A scion 2e game, taking place on the Global Scale where your characters play Scions of the Gods, starting at the Hero tier, going to Demigod tier eventually. You are a band of scions solving issues in the World and Terra Incognita.

  1. What's new in this game
  2. He was really active for a while, but Jan 25 was his last time logging in. I hope he's okay and will return before too long.
  3. I took the liberty of PMing PerilousAdventures a couple of days ago. I have had no reply so far, so I don't know. Let's hope the best, for him first, for us also then.
  4. Did we loose our Fateweaver even before we got started?
  5. I finally managed to find a bit of time to update and flesh a bit Taqu, adding some family, friends and foes. Obviously to be expanded and discussed with you as needed to fit the game if I am lucky and get picked :) Thanks !
  6. I can't comment on the rules-side, I am not savvy enough (not yet ?), but I like the intention behind the Argo a lot !
  7. I am also just browsing through the mechanics in general and wondering that they really removed one of the innovative parts 1e had imho - the wheel to handle action order in combat. I really liked it a lot - on the other hand we played probably 6-10 sessions and no more, so my experience is limited. What was the critique for this initiative system, so that it got removed?
  8. I was also looking into Edges. Currently wondering if Ascension isn't sufficiently handled by Epic Dexterity? Balancing Act might still fit and worth considering. Narratively speaking, I have Sasha doing a lot of parkour in mind when looking at the both. Uncanny Navigation would be equally fitting, but isn't that very well covered by Journey's innate ability?
  9. Let me try a take on the Argo for Sasha: - 2 dots for granting access to Journeys - 3 dots for a total of 4 physical forms (motorcycle, car, plane and boat/ship) - 1 infinite fuel Not sure if I should take enhancements or knacks. Those are naturally fast vehicles (Kawasaki H2, a top-tier car, a jet and a speedboat) and Sasha is naturally a great driver. I was thinking 4 dots for consciousness though. And the "Long road to anywhere" immortal knack might be intriguing as well. Now, you say, I should rather not spend three dots for shape shifting but go for a fitting motif. As I have none other at the moment that's not a problem I think. However, what would be the purview I do a marvel in using the motif to shapeshift the argo into I don't know a camper van because that seems handy in the situation? FWIW If I do not use the motif for shapeshifting, the other motif to choose would likely be about it being extremely fast - I guess that might open up some Journey related marvels but not much more, would it?
  10. As far as I know, it is exactly as CandyLaser said indeed.
  11. Not the GM, but if I remember correctly you get the pantheon-specific purview, one innate purview off your patron's list, and then the others come from Relics and Guides. For those you can take whatever you want, though it should be supported by the concept for the relic and the guide, naturally.
  12. A question regarding purviews, can I have access to as many purviews as I am able and willing to spent birthright points on? Or is it limited to the ones my divine parent has or by anything else?
  13. Alright, I started late, but started anyway to work on a Scion of Hermes. What time and in what timezone does the application period end today?
  14. Step One: concept Sasha, favorite son of Hermes, courier of anything or anyone. Step Two : Paths First path represent your origin, essentially who you were before the story started. Action movie stuntman. Skills: Athletics, Pilot, Close Combat Second path represents your role, good place to put your character concept in. You want a message to be delivered, you want some goods to be shipped, you want someone to be brought somewhere? I am your man. Skills: Athletics, Pilot, Firearms Third path represents your pantheon, how you relate to the gods and myths of their patron's pantheon. Hermes most trusted delegate. If told to deliver something personally, Hermes might still be inclined to pass it to Sasha. Skills: Empathy, Persuasion, Subterfuge For each path, pick three skills associated with the path. Of course try to have them make sense when it comes to the Pantheon path two of the skills you choose must be the divine patron's Pantheon Divine Skills. Any given skill cannot be associated with more than two paths. Pick a path condition that triggers when you invoke the path too often, you can pick from the example conditions or use it as a template to create your own. Step Three: Skills Prioritize which path is primary, secondary and tertiary. Primary: Role Secondary: Origin Tertiary: Pantheon Athletics 5 (parcours) Pilot 5 (motorcycle) Close Combat 3 (martial arts) Firearms 3 Empathy 1 Persuasion 1 Subterfuge 3 Integrity 1 Technology 1 Step Four: Attributes Physical Arena: Might (Force) 3, Dexterity (Finesse) 5, Stamina (Resilience) 3 Mental Arena: Intellect (Force) 2, Cunning (Finesse) 5, Resolve (Resilience) 2 Social Arena: Presence (Force) 2, Manipulation (Finesse) 4, Composure (Resilience) 2 Step Five: Callings and Knacks Liminal 2 Flatlander Unobtrusive Visitor Trickster 1 Smoke and Mirrors Guardian 2 A Fortress A Warning Step Six: Birthrights You receive seven dots to allocate to your birthrights. You can choose from the ones made in the books or design your own. Gods trade and talk with each other or even participate in multiple pantheons, so if you have an interesting story of why you have a relic and the likes from another Pantheon, don't let your divine patron's Pantheon path stops you. What I need: Access to the Journeys purview, a mythical vehicle (minimum motorcycle; better something that can change from motorcycle to car to plane to boat; best something that can change to any vehicle) What I can have: 7-11 points for relics, followers, guides and/or creatures I should consider putting some points in edges as well. Let's try the Argo: - 2 dots for granting access to Journeys - 3 dots for a total of 4 physical forms (motorcycle, car, plane and boat/ship) - 1 infinite fuel Not sure if I should take enhancements or knacks. Those are naturally fast vehicles (Kawasaki H2, a top-tier car, a jet and a speedboat) and Sasha is naturally a great driver. I was thinking 4 dots for consciousness though. And the "Long road to anywhere" immortal knack might be intriguing as well. Step Seven: Purviews Metamorphosis (innate) Epic Dexterity (innate) Journeys Step Eight: Boons Unbarred Passage (Journeys) One of Unerring Flight, Heavenly Stride or The Falling Star (Epic Dexterity) Step Nine: Finishing Touches Legend: 1 Virtues: Egotism vs. Kinship Health: One slot each for Bruised, Bruised, Injured, Maimed, and Taken Out; Defense: 3 Movement Dice: 10 You receives 5 extra Skill dots, an extra Attribute dot, and either two additional Knacks or four points of Birthrights at this point in character creation. Integrity +1 Subterfuge +2 Technology +1 Firearms +1 Now we are past the mechanics, worth thinking about and write down: What do they look like? How do they dress? Who are their family and friends? Do they have any rivals? What’s their name? Tell me more about your character backstory. Write down a short term and long term deed.
  15. That's a good point - I overlooked Marvels. I've been playing around with Callie's birthrights, but I'd say she's probably done now. I think the only question left is how broad this Enhancement is: Enhancement (••): When using the Silver's Motif to perform an Equipment marvel, that equipment is especially well-made, and grants a +1 equipment enhancement. If it's Narrow, I'll move the dot into Genny to give her a few more dice.
  16. I'm working on Birthrights and have a few questions. First, does a Purview's Innate Boon need to be bought or does it come with access to the Purview? Second, there's a 3-dot Relic Flaw that mentions "a specific type of Virtue" (Hero pg 211). Does that mean my pantheon's Virtue track, or the 1e virtues mentioned in the Deeds section (Origin pg 94-95)? Third, I'm building a bird Creature that can vary its size. Do I need to buy the Flight Quality, and does changing size require the Shapeshifter Flair?
  17. Pretty much work the same mechanically as an hero Scion pretty much. If you take the Knight calling there are some additional mechanics but the knight calling is not mandatory. In brief at demigod, you can take on a mantle so transforming into the legend but for example as an incarnate scion, whatever your character may be, you could say stuff like "I'm Arthur!" when your memories come flooding back at your visitation. Or you could work toward it, don't have to start with the Arthurian setup from the beginning. Yes there are more details in the Scion Companion mysteries of the world, well more options. In general, I say changing into any vehicle just add it as the motif for your relic so you can use marvels related to that. Stuff like the right vehicle for the job. If something very flexible, its better to simply use either a purview on the relic or take advantage of the motif on the relic. Pantheon Specific purview cannot be on relics. The rules for creating creatures are in Hero but essentially its pretty much exchange dots for abilities and the more dots, you have the more dots you have to use/exchange.
  18. Thanks thanks for bringing up the Argo. I liked the idea of having a creature - in terms of that it for example can move on its own - but I fear it might be too far a stretch that a creature shapechanges into a thing and hence designing it as a Relic seems good advice. Are there any more details about designing Relics than in the core Scion: Hero book? I guess as long as I don't exaggerate (I don't know a 1k people cruiseship or an Airbus 380) the basic form is not a big deal at all. But what about the additional aspects, like changing into any vehicle (or at least a couple of different ones: car, motorcycle, helicopter, plane, ship). Is it always about finding the right purview / knack that best represents what I want? Would all the changing be the Change Shape boon from Metamorphosis? How many dots would that be for a relic? Would that maybe work the same for a creature? Are there rules for designing creatures?
  19. Okay just figured it was worth asking but yeah the more I was reading about them the more... different they seemed to probably a safe bet. lol I was also reading through the new book and trying to parse how the Arthurian stuff works. Might just be that I don't have the system fully down yet since I haven't played it before but I feel like I'm getting the idea of the Mantles and all that like 60% and my brain is missing the other 40%. lol At the starting Hero level do they pretty much work the same mechanically for character creation and I'm just over thinking things?
  20. For the relic, essentially if you want a boon + the other stuff would probably requires a flaw with the current amount of dots on it. Heroic and Immortal Knacks are available indeed. The ones in Demigod are fine to use, just some of them have a better effect, the higher tier you are.
  21. It's possible to turn into something. There is in general enough dots to simply grab a special vehicle and a Pegasus if you want both for the birthrights. Something also don't hesitate to go big with some stuffs, because remember that the gods of a Pantheon don't mind sharing gifts to the scions, like for example: -The Argo (the ship used by the Argonauts) is pretty famous, maybe you could modernize it into a sports car or private Jet or even a Mystery Inc Van or even a DMC Delorean etc..."Roads? where we going, we don't need roads!". Dragons are not okay, in general the big things with Dragons is that nobody knows about them and they want to keep it that way. It's a secret faction in the world that could end up choosing a side in the Gods vs Titans. There could be crossover game with Heirs of Dragons of course but for now, would keep them in their lair/secret agents vibe.
  22. I might be cutting it a bit close to get a good app together but if I get the inspiration to do it I may just, been wanting to play Scion 2e and now I'm seeing all the stuff I didn't even realize had some out. I know I saw mention of the various later pantheons being okay but just to be on the safe side are Dragons also okay?
  23. I am also thinking back and forth to apply without a Scion of Hermes, but don't really seem to get beyond some broad strokes....Now I thought I'd just put them here and hear what you all think and based on that decide if I should sit down and just go through all of it - or not and wishing you all a great and fun and epic storytelling. What I had in mind was in one word - swift. They‘d be athletic and equally quick witted. They‘d be a pilot- all kinds of vehicles - driving and flying, but preferred on a very fast motorcycle. I thought about combining Hermes‘ Liminal and likely trickster calling with warrior - ranged and thrown weapons learned from his growing up in a circus family. For a birthright I thought about a Pegasus that could take on the shape of all kinds of vehicles or if that doesn't quite fit then a relic that could do it. I guess the short term deed would be about delivering my first own "celestial message", long term I am not sure yet... What do you think, is there something to it?
  24. Okay, I pretty much have this laid out with all the voices made except for the final choice of Knacks or Birthrights. I want to look over the details about what I might want or need (Unless I can hold off on choosing them right now and pick them up during play). Also, I need to work on final details on the relic. There are some minor things I want to see about, but I need to re-read the section on relics and evocations again. Also, one thing that might help me choose between Birthrights and Knacks - Can we take immortal knacks from Demigod yet, or do we need to wait for our Legend to increase? The one I was looking at is 'Disguised to Onlookers' (Demigod p. 152)
  25. That's okay! If things are crowded already, then that's fine; you guys have fun, enjoy the game!
