Detailed Description

“There is a great evil spreading throughout the many verses. And you, maybe our only chance of stopping it.” - Waymond Wang, Everything Everywhere All at Once

All your life something has been a little... off. You may be successful, in your business or social life, but even then you've had this nagging feeling that you've been missing something. Still, it wasn't until this moment you discovered just what is special about you, as you discover your place in the wider multiverse!

But others want to use your abilities, or worse kill you, to help if not destroy the multiverse then transform it to their whim.

Maybe the solution to this is a place you know only as Amber, the mysterious city at the center of the multiverse, a city you know only from your dreams...

  1. What's new in this game
  2.          Akhtar Mubarak, Cultured Diplomat Having already said his piece, Akhtar didn't feel the need to add anything more, and instead looked at the woman named Rachel with some interest as she seemed to be trying something with their new powers. Something interesting to keep in mind, perhaps ?
  3. With some trepidation Rachel takes up a long machete and a small buckler. "There has got to be a better way to go about this," she says, mostly to herself, "I mean, here is literal world-shaping power, but first go poke a demon with a stick." She paced away enough to make sure she wouldn't accidently hit anyone, and takes some practice swings. As she did so, getting use to holding the small shield in one hand while slashing with the other, she wondered if this wasn't another test of some kind. They have this power, so why not use it on what they have? Could something be wrought from this that might be better? Struck with a thought, she sets down the machete and shield and takes off the light jacket she had been wearing. She took a deep breath and draped the jacket over the blade of the machete. She reached out with her mind, reaching for the possibilities that she knew had to be out there, looking for a variation of the metal of the blade that would burst into flame when needed. She waited for something akin to the feeling she got when she was able to make the clouds move and other items appear and when she felt it, she snatched away the jacket, gazing down to see if the weapon had changed. OOC Not sure if a roll or anything is need for that transformation.
  4. Ben looks over the collection of weaponry and goes for something straightforward, hand grip on one end, pointy bit on the other. "Sharp end towards the other guy, that's about as far as I know about using one of these things."
  5. When you say "hand weapons," do you mean modern or medieval ones?
  6. Rock World With little effort, despite her apparent slim frame, kicked open one of the crates to reveal a variety of hand weapons of various styles and designs. "I'm not asking anyone to risk more than they're willing, I'm sure you've had quite a day already. But I think you'll find you're more capable than you think and working together you can best a creature of Chaos."   As to the other comment she was much less sanguine.   "Walking the Pattern is a test of physical and mental endurance it leaves you exhausted and in poor shape to act. It's not something to be rushed and must be done one at a time, basically, it would take too much time, time we don't have right now.”
  7. Rachel shook her head, surprised at her companion's willingness to step back into danger so unprepared. "Wait," she asked Fiona, but giving everyone else a glance, "Wouldn't it be better for us to do whatever with this Pattern before we go back? Face it fully empowered, whatever that means? At the least, can we get some weapons made to fight these things?"
  8. Katjuk doesn't yet feel the part he seems to be meant to play. But he has been fighting the shadows in his dreams since he was a child. He looks around, attempting to draw confidence from those around him. "I'm in." He steps forward and smiles.
  9.       Akhtar Mubarak, Cultured Diplomat Walking into open danger was not Akhtar's idea of a sound plan, but there seemed to be more martially inclined members in the party, and he could perhaps use this trick of Skill-Snatching again to help. Flexing his hand on his kohpesh's handle, he stood erect and replied to their guide. "It is correct that there is this lingering situation behind us. If we have any responsability in this most unfortunate event, even an indirect one, it may be indeed our duty to see it through. I guess we owe it to the other customers at the DMV to help in whatever respect we can..."
  10. Ben takes in the scene and rearranges his understanding. "Oh, so we're walking into the bloodbath instead of away from it." Maybe he should have done that MMA training with those guys from that job a couple years ago. Was too much work back then though. "Alright... but don't expect me to be able to do much more than throw this empty can at something..."
  11. GM Post "The local police are already on the scene and are getting ready to go in, against even the weakest occupant of Chaos they don't stand a chance." she sighed before adding   "Like my brother Corwin, I've come to respect those of Shadow, as Lords and Ladies of Amber it's our responsibility to try and protect them. Even though you've only just started your journey together you should be able to defeat this creature." she looked at the assembled group "Are you ready to go and give a little payback to this demon?"
  12. Katjuk smiles at Jane's hesitant acceptance of his suggestion. Even if it wasn't much of an art statement, she was expressing herself. She seemed to be adapting pretty well to this whole situation. ANY EARTH. It made him feel a bit slow - despite managing to "find" the paint, he was struggling to absorb what was happening. The art helped ease his mind. Working with only spray paint in a short time it wasn't very impressive, though definitely not as literal as Jane's piece. He stopped back to look at the abstract horror just as Fiona spoke up. He listened carefully to what she said, especially that 'pattern' bit. He wasn't sure she had said anything about that to him before. He kept quiet, wishing he had more to go on and appreciating the questions of the man who had yet to actually speak to him even by way of introduction...
  13.    Akhtar Mubarak, Cultured Diplomat At her sudden reappearance, Akhtar had to look aside to hide his disappointment and anger. His focus had been for naught, Fiona was too many steps ahead of them. In a strange way, it lent credence to her sayings, though. She also mentioned the Pattern for the second time, and it sounded all the more important in the long run. But for now... "Lady Fiona, so good to have you back, and unharmed. Which authorities are you talking about, if I may ? You mean at the DMV, right ? So what about us now, please ? We are to avoid going back, and instead start investigating on who set this trap against us, and why, correct ? How do you advise we do that ? Who may benefit from this, is probably the first, most sensible question, I reckon ?" And the diplomat expected her to answer with her own gains in that affair, too...
  14. Ben has been sipping on his beer, realizing that in the current situation he was unlikely to come up with a plausible spot to find another one, at least one that was cold. "I'm all for sorting things out and walking out of anywhere there is about to be a bloodbath. I'm not so keen on getting caught up in one of those."
  15. "Heh. It's a step in the right direction," Jane says with a wry smile.
  16. Rock World “I’m… I’m not sure, a lot of it is anger about you all just… existing.” she looked pained as she tried to sort out what was going on “It’s difficult, it’s like thinking through a thick ooze, but I think she’s impatience waiting for something to happen...” "That’s because of the time difference, but the time it seems has finally run short” Unlike before none of you sensed Fiona arriving, another frustrating secret “The authorities are planning to send in force any minute now, it’ll be a bloodbath.”   Looking at the recently added graffiti she gives a wry smile before adding "If that’s enough excitement for you obviously? I promise you that once we sort this out you can walk the Pattern and I’ll show you all the wonders of the multiverse!”
  17. Rachel quietly watched the exchange between Jane, Katjuk and Ben. Her head was a little spinny. Weren't there other people here before? Is this group just an alt for the group they started as? Fiona has said the other possible "us" could be anything, so it would make sense that we could be anyone given enough baseline deviation. How does the current I connect to the other Is that are out there? She thought back to Linda's comment, and her own experience pulling skills from others.   She looked over to the confused woman and asked, "You can? What is she thinking about?"
  18. "Oh, who knows what he's after?" Jane says. "He's a thinker, that one. Probably pondering the philosophical rammifications or whatever..." She hesitantly accepts a spray can. "Huh. I guess that's at least something to do," she says. "I'll give it a go." She starts out at one end of the rock and begins spelling out LEAST EXCITING PLACE ON ANY EARTH in spraypaint.
  19. Katjuk blinks in flutters as Jane vents, muttering a word in repeat every so often. "Geek girl..." "Demons..." "Yanking?..." His interest peaks at that last bit. He had understood some of what had been told to him, but the strange woman had seemed in a hurry when she was bringing him here. He stares at the rappelling gear, obviously not brought here by conventional means. After thinking for a moment, he disappears behind a rock as Ben recalls his magic beer experience. When Katjuk reappears, he is hold a handful of spray paint cans. "I don't think this is the sort of place you sit for hours and paint, but I could think of all sorts of reasons for these to be here." He smiles. To Jane he asks, "Would you like to leave a mark? Something to tell future visitors just how bored this place made you?" He gestures up the surface of a towering rock on the mesa.
  20. There is a splutter then a snort, "Demons you say?" Ben takes a look around at how dull and drab this place seems to be. "So sorta like how she said to just grab a drink as we passed that fridge on the way here? I mean it was a little odd that it had so much PBR in it." He takes another long swallow from his PBR and looks over at the well dressed diplomat, "So what's his deal, he lookin' for something in particular?"
  21. Jane groans and rolls her eyes theatrically. "I feel bored!" she complains. "Every world that you could possibly imagine to play around in, and Geek Girl has to strand us in one where absolutely nothing happens and then forbid us from wandering off, can you believe it? At least when we were being chased by demons something was happening." She gives Katjuk a look. "Have you tried, you know, yanking them?" she says. "Like, just decide that your paints are behind that rock over there, then go over and check. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but apparently if you can come up with a reason why something might be there, you can make it be there." She pauses. "I mean, I admit that I'm not too clear on why your paints would be behind that rock, but it might be worth a try."
  22. Akhtar Mubarak, Cultured Diplomat This was getting more and more haphazard by the minute, and Akhtar's attempt at catching Fiona's attention ended up wasted as she left without sparing them more than a passing glance. The Egyptian diplomat looked at the thin air from where she had disappeared as if he could follow her whereabouts, and actually... he wondered if there could be more to this idea than just wishful thinking. The two woman could fill in the newcomers just fine, so he just waved his hand noncommitally, and instead focused his Will trying to feel anything that may provide an indication on Fiona' direction. Could she have left a trail that he could pick with his newfound powers ? What if he also tried to supplement his efforts with the skills from a double that would have already done that ?? Could he then pick something ?
  23. Katjuk favors the small company with a broad grin, but his eyes are troubled and his brows drawn. "I am Katjuk," he says. His deep brown eyes fall on Jane. "You sell yourself short," he says with a nervous smile, "you know more than I." ”I am puzzled, I don't really know what to make of this." His mind is far off, but instinct kicks in and he asks Jane, "How are you feeling?" He is still processing internally what is happening. Is it related to the nightmares he still gets from time to time? The quiet stillness of the place soothes him - it reminds him of childhood. And yet at the same time, it has an odd beauty unlike anything he has ever seen. Staring off at the horizon he says absently, "I wish I had my paints."
