The year is 2028, it's been 10 years since Novas have come to our world because of the incident and changed our world!

This chronicle uses the Trinity Continuum Aberrant rules by Onyx Path and as part of Team Tomorrow, it is a more traditional superheroes story about saving the world.

3 to 5 PCs would be nice.

Lexicon

Aberrant: 1) A common slur term for a nova, particularly one with various transformations. 2) A member of the violent Aberrants faction of the Teragen.

Nova: From Homo sapiens novus, a theoretical subspecies of humanity with the mental ability to manipulate fundamental quantum forces to perform amazing feats.

Eruption: The first manifestation of a potential nova’s abilities, often accompanied by a violent release of force or energy, which led to its name.

  1. What's new in this game
  2. Vecnahand hasn't checked in since March 30th. So at this point who knows.
  3. Has anybody heard anything about this? It closed on Monday, right?
  4. I looked into that and in truth I do see the value, but not when I have 1 dot powers in an array. I'll wait till I get a power to like 3 or 4 dots to make that investment, because that's when it's value really starts to shine, but right now it would be like buying a 1 dot power for the 2 dot price. I don't have it all mapped out yet but I am planning on building the power set to include all sorts of personal body manipulation powers and then I'll start reconfiguring them into an array. At least that is my initial plans at the moment. I'm getting ahead of myself here as I have not even been selected yet.
  5. That should be right, yes. There is some discussion about Intrinsic powers and costing Mega Attributes despite them normally not costing Quantum to activate, but Absorption's a reflexive 0 cost - bypasses all of that and keeps the activation/commitment low.. (As a note, if you're looking at options to broaden what you can do, I'd highlight Technique as worth a look. It's basically a way to do M&M style power arrays - giving you one power you can use in a bunch of ways, but pulling multiple tricks at once is tough.)
  6. what if I selected a power like Absorption and selected the Radiant option? The Power should only cost the initial investment of Q as normal, but then after that the cost is 0, right?
  7. such a good observation and explanation. Thank you for that. I will need to rethink that device approach.
  8. Not the GM, so don't take this as gospel, but trying to read the text... that's right, but there is a drawback to it. Devices hog Quantum. It's unclear if you have to spent quantum on Atunement. The wording of the text seems to imply you do, but the Atunement edge and atunement rules don't specify it... but the crafting rules do say 'to attune to a device, you commit quantum to it', but the costs are similar to the activation costs. In your example, you have to spend three points of quantum to activate the teleportation device, (Points equal to the rank, plus half the number you'd spend for all powers within the device) before you spend 2 quantum to actually teleport with it. The three 'activation Quantum' can't be recovered while you have the Teleport Device active. If attunement does have a cost, it's device rating. So that's another 2 quantum locked up. 5 of your pool is effectively gone so you have access to an extra power... but it's much cheaper to pick up this way than via regular methods, of course. And you can take device flaws to get more ranks of powers in there. (You can probably work stuff like enhancement into this, but that requires the core Trinity rules and... yeah, I can't make hide nor hare of them.
  9. I was wondering if I buy the Attunement edge for 2 dots and I get a Q-Tech device at rank 2, which I think that means a Quantum Power or Mega Edge at 2 dots, could I buy a Teleportation Device to use in melee combat for dodging like the one used by Kang in the Loki series (if you have seen it)?
  10. Quick question... If you pick up the ranged (Say Short Ranged) Trait on Quantum attack. Does it become ONLY a ranged attack. Of you can you us it as both a close/ranged? Or would you need to pick up Variable for that?
  11. command culture Empathy Humanaties integrity persuasion Athletics Close Combat - artistic talent big heart followers fame patron skilled liar Striking wealth Library Small Unit Tactics
  12. and everyone applying or know this system, please feel free to give me your honest feedback. I made a character that I thought was interesting enough for me to play, but I understand that sometimes my creations are not practical in design to the system or adventure. What am I trying to achieve with this character? I wanted to build on an idea of a Multiple Man could help the character in completing tasks, where an extra hand in skill challenges, or social / combat distraction techniques, or a buddy to help me take down lessor henchmen with twin fighting techniques. This character is no powerhouse by any means; she is more of a problem solver than a sniper or brute, but still I wanted to give her a little bit of combat training. So whatever feedback you got I will take. Thank you in advance.

As long as your character is alive and conscious, his will is almost always his own. For every dot of this Edge, your character gains an Enhancement to all actions to resist the effects of fear, torture, interrogation, or mind-altering drugs. Your character even gains half this bonus (rounded up) to resist all forms of Inspired mind control or emotional influence. • Instant ExpertInstant Expert (Mega-Edge) Prerequisite: Mega-Intellect • When encountering a new skill task for the first time roll Quantum + Intellect and with each success gain a temporary dot to a new skill. The Difficulty is the current skill rating, if any, which is why it is harder to increase a skill you already know. The temporary skill dots last for the scene. • PatronPatron (Origin / Social Edge) Your patrons are your parents. They are very powerful and well connected, and expect the very best from you. Your whole life they have guided, trained, and protected you in the hopes of molding you into something great. Your Patron can handle significant Path Challenges, like short-term access to highly restricted areas or borrowing normally unavailable equipment for an unspecified short-term purpose as long as the equipment is returned within a few days. Drawbacks: These favors are not a one-way street. Her Patron occasionally asks her to perform some service. The frequency of the service depends upon the number of dots you choose. The Patron may provide her normal aid for this service, but always expects her to take the lead. ••• MastermindMastermind (Mega-Edge) Prerequisite: Mega-Intellect 1 You think many moves ahead and seem prepared for anything. When engaged in Procedural Actions you gain a pool of points equal to Mega-Intellect for the following: [1] decrease difficulty of a roll for procedural actions by 1. [2] Reduce Enhancement gained from a procedural action by 1. [3] Change a clue associated with procedural action to point to a different conclusion. [4] Provide 1 Enhancement to an ally in opposing or thwarting the procedural action. • Alt. IDAlt ID (Role / Social Edge) For two dots, her fake ID is extremely thorough and well supported. All rolls to check if her ID is legitimate increase their Difficulty by +2. Drawback: When not in use, a two-dot fake ID requires her to spend several hours every week making it look active. •• CovertCovert (Role / Social Edge) She takes great care to guard her privacy. Each dot in this Edge increases the Difficulty of all rolls to learn any information about her by +1. This penalty applies to everything from computer searches, to interviews, to examining public records or her credit information. • Small Unit TacticsSmall Unit Tactics (Society / Mental Edge) She has been, or currently is, part of a small combat unit, and either commanded it or was an integral part of it. She is versed in a variety of military strategies and understands the strengths and weaknesses of the individuals on her team and how best to use them to achieve a goal. Using this Edge allows her to add 2 Enhancement to a combat maneuver involving her team. •• LibraryLibrary (Society / Mental edge) She has access to an archive of uncommon knowledge, she doesn’t have to seek out sources, she has all the material she needs for Research rolls right at her fingertips. At one dot, this library covers a field equivalent to one Specialty, and offers 1 Enhancement to Research rolls made using it. Each subsequent dot either increases the Enhancement by one, or expands the scope of the library — first to a full Skill, then to a broad topic that can be tackled by multiple Skills. Note that the higher your character’s Library’s rating, the more conspicuous it is. • AttunementAttunement (Nove Edge) Attunement is a way for a Nova to use their powers without causing harm to themselves. It is also a way to imprint objects with their power signature to protect it from their own power's harmful effects. Lastly, it is a way to imprint onto a Q-Tech device. Q-Tech is ... With each dot in this Edge the Nova can invest a Quantum point to attune to the device, therefor deducting those points for their total number. Purchasing this device at creation will grant the Nova a Q-Tech device at power rank equal to the initial dots purchased. •• Notes Apply Nova Template [1] Quantum Trait rating 1 [2] Nova Tier target number 7 [3] Add 1 dot to 1 Attribute in Favored Approach (•) [4] Add 1 dot to Fame or Alt. 14. Amélia Valentine [Real & Covert ID] / Joséphine de la Fontaine, aka FABLE [Alt. ID] Concept: A descendant of original Æon Society members who participated in the Society's early eugenic program to create stronger "Eximorphs" bloodlines, aka "The Children of Tomorrow". She is a child of the 5th Generation and is very much aware of the programs' history and purpose, and considers it an honor to be part of it. She is a true believer in the Æon Society's motto: "Hope, Sacrifice, and Unity for a Better Tomorrow". Character Inspiration: If you have ever seen Legion on FX there was a character named Cary Loudermilk who was a mutant with the power to host an extra-dimensional space in his body for his twin Kerry. He, Cary, would exist out in the real world doing all the mundane tasks while Kerry, she, "slept" inside the extra-dimensional space until there was danger and she, Kerry, would appear and help resolve the conflict. He was more cerebral and she was more physical in powers and approach. It was a fun and interesting take on the Multiple Man idea. I wanted to play around with that concept by using the Quantum Agent power. At first I was thinking my character would just self-replicate to help herself accomplish tasks easier, and it works well with the Boost power where individually or together, my character could enhance themselves with the mega-edges Instant Expert and Mastermind (two-minds and all). I also figured the Quantum Agent would work well with the other edges like Small Unit Tactics, Martial Arts styles, Covert and Alt. ID. What is it that they say "Team work makes the Dream work". As for the other power, Quantum Anima, I just think it would be very cool power if she can manipulate the environment around her to help her accomplish tasks. Her power to gift "movement" and follow "commands" would be an inventive way of problem solving in the field when her own skills are not enough to get the job done. What I really want to play is a command / support character, and not an upfront melee combatant or range blaster. Background: Amélia Valentine is a biological product of the original Æon Society members who donated their enhanced genetic codes to produce the "Children of Tomorrow". It was the Society's goal to drive humanity forward to build a better tomorrow and that dream begins with the children of today. She is the 5th Generation of that special eugenics program and was raised by the great-grandchildren of the the original Society members in a closed and sheltered environment called the "Homestead". All members of the program are the biological offspring of the original Society members, but use aliases to not draw attention to themselves considering how famous their bloodline is. Amélia's parents work in Project Utopia in different divisions, but they still managed to keep their daughter on a tight schedule. Every hour of her day was assigned with a variety of tasks meant to test and nurture Amélia into being great someday. The main goal of the original Æon Society members was to make the world a better place, and the descendants believed in that vision wholeheartedly that they bred and raised their children to be the best ideals of that dream. As with all strict and heavily regimented children there will be a few that rebel against their upbringing. Some outwardly display their rebellion in a glorious fashion, while others keep it hidden from their overbearing parents. Amélia was part of the latter group that dabbled in her rebellious nature for the thrill of it. She focused her darker nature into breaking and entering restricted areas. Wherever there was a restricted access point she found a way to get in just for thrills; and this even applied to cyberspace as well. Online on the darkweb she met a user by the handle of "card_shark" that introduced her to Les Fantômes, an international group of "Robin Hood" thieves. This was her secret fantasy, her darker aspiration that she wished she could give herself over to. Even till this day she still wears some article of clothing that has a hood on it as a hallmark of who she wishes she could be. That rebellious time allowed her to focus her training into more clandestine and secret ops projects. Luckily for her the Æon Society is a vast multi-divisional entity with many diverse interest, but her time in anonymity is shifting to the limelight now. As a member of Team Tomorrow she will have to find a way to put her more covert skills to better use on more public missions. Aspirations: Amélia has been developing her skills to covertly hide her identity and she would like to continue until she has erased her original digital footprint in cyberspace. [Short term aspiration: continue to upgrade Covert edge from 1• to 3•] Her father works in an Æon Society division rumored to be tangentially associated with the Babel Dossier; a top secret collection of super secret files curated by the Æon Society from its inception. It is the "Holy Grail" for all conspiracy theorists looking to have access to all the world's greatest secrets never told. For her the idea of a super top secret archive of all the world's greatest secrets is the ultimate wish fulfillment. Currently she has access to some quality files through one of her mother's contacts at the Science and Technology Division of Project Utopia, but so many other files are restricted even beyond her super larceny methods. She would love to get higher clearance to view more of those restricted documents. [Short Term aspiration: continue to increase her Library from 1• to 3•. This is Not Babel Dossier, but she doesn't know that. The quest for the Babel Dossier should be her life long goal.] Ultimately she would love to increase her power level in Quantum Agent to its highest level so that she can utilize all its' potential. This power can create a multitude of clones that can theoretically operate independently, be her eyes and ears everywhere, and even transmit their knowledge to her from a distance. It is a god like power to be and do everything everywhere all at once. [Long Term aspiration: continue to enhance Quantum Agent and purchase all the power tags to ever expand on its potential.]
  15. Alright I'm done for now. I'll take edges to toughen him up as we get experience, he can be a little soft for now, having relied on his speed to not get hit. I am not sure if taking Muay Lopburi as the skill specialty for Athletics is too much in conjunction with the role path and the close combat specialty.
  16. There's no list for specializations; they're made up. Keep in mind though, unless I'm missing something, they don't help you with the skill you take them on? They're more 'how does this skill help me do other stuff'? Like, 'Oh, I know all about guns - so I can totally identify this gunshot wound'. That sorta thing As to links, well like you say, there's an 'if this makes sense' quality to it. :) For my part, Tox doesn't fit too neatly with most options for links, but she's been with Utopia for a while now - anyone who has dealings with the project might've run into her already.
  17. I'm... Kind of done? In that I'm at 140 out of 150 now. Would not mind some one looking over my sheet build wise to let me know if I've screwed it up or not? And or if there is anything glaringly obvious I'm missing... I did actually have a question. Skill Specializations. Is there a list some place I'm missing or are we just kind of making them up? Other then that, Just need to do my characters background and all that, and I've got that line up in my head. Just maybe some input on names/set up. As to I'm up for background links? I mean that would all depend on characters however.
  18. - I think this is ready for a review. In my mind, he's like Colossus, just Crystalline instead. :)
  19. I can answer this one. Cos we already had this talk in the OOC. ^^ It's confusing, but no - you get one free skill trick (in something you have 3 dots in) and a free speciality on any skill that hits 3 dots.
  20. @ Sorry to ask. But is it correct that you get a FREE skill trick in any skill you have 3 dots in or am I drunk? Also hate to do the 'look over' thing. But so far is there anything that sticks out on the character that I've missed. not like 'how would you build this' like a "You missed this or should really do this?"
  21. Oh ya, I figured you didn't "require" wings. I was more talking about the visuals ya.
  22. Sure you would fly better than with wings. In this scenario wings are not necessary, unless you want it because of the visuals.
  23. @ Hmm. Going to use this for any build questions. So first question. Flight/Wings. I see flight. I see Body Modification. (Wings) If I want to fly, but actually fly better then wings gives you? I just pick both of them up correct?
  24. Should we consider background links? If we're starting as a team, have we had some group training? Or is this more a 'we're all meeting for our new job' setup?
  25. Yep already had that down for sure. Kind of looking at the build now.
