  2. . . . . . Charity . . . . . Morning having come, Charity faces the sunrise for her daily ritual, the tracing of the disc of the sun. Hair unbraided and silhouetted against the light, she presents a very different image compared to her typical adventurer guise. After having paid respect and thanks for the day, she is finally ready to tackle the day. "Breakfast sounds good," the young warrior agrees, still putting herself together for the day. Her armor wasn't the heaviest, but it still involved some effort to don it for the day. Her gear finally gathered back into her messenger's bag, she makes her way to the familiar dome with Francis. "You know, this place isn't bad... when it's not actively trying to kill us."
  3. ~Francis John IV, Prince of All Halflings ~ Francis gets up, yawns, stretchs, and does all of the normal things halflings do in the mornings. "Top of the day to all you lads and ladettes! Shall we have breakfast, courtesy of these magical domed waystations? Why, I think we shall!" Francis ambles up to the refilling font, and 'orders' breakfast for the party.   4. ~ Day 6 Late morning: Arriving at Khandelwal ~ The journey on the sea was relatively comfortable as the water was rather gentle with the swells and the galley's propulsion was somewhat smooth and regular as the oars stuck with a steady rhythm that was not jerking. After dawn came and everyone was back awake, the galley was following a coastline off to port by only a quarter of a mile or so. There was an inlet up ahead and the galley steered into it as it headed inland of the large island. The shores were still vegetation covered, but an observer could sense there were sand dunes beyond instead of jungle covered foothills. Even from the galley deck, the land along the shore looked pleasant and hospitable with groves of fruit trees and palms interspersed with flowering shrubs and vines. There were even creatures visible, monkeys large and small as well as fisher birds that frequented the reedy inlets and tidelands at the water's edge. About late morning, the pier came into view at the end of the rather long and not so straight inlet. The helmsman brought the vessel alongside the quay so the group could disembark. The quay was much like the others they encountered with the domed structure for passengers to await a galley's arrival in comfort with food and water available. Spooky leapt ashore to the quay.

"By all means, let Lump do the extra work if it suits. More time for beauty sleep..." "and other things," he added luridly wicked grin with wiggling eyebrows for Charity.
  6. . . . . . Charity . . . . . Paying attention with one eye open, Charity notes the order. "Hunh, 'kay, I'll get you up. Do our best to get all the rest we can, gonna be busy tomorrow, I'm guessing." With that, the young woman fiddles with laying her hair just so and works on getting all the sleep she can before it's her turn.
  7. "I can ask Lump to watch for us; he doesn't really need to sleep," Mud says as she lays out her own pallet. "If that doesn't suit, I'm happy to take a turn at watch after Charity."
  8. . . . . . Charity . . . . . "Fair enough. Far be it from me to argue a reasonable point," Charity nods, working on getting herself bedded down for the hopefully uneventful trip. She looks up at the night sky again before placing her blade within arm's reach and rolling into her side. "Let me know when I'm up. Probably for the best, perhaps we're getting too used to this place for our own good." Charity shoots a glance over the the small lump known as Francis. "Out already," she comments before laying her head down.
  9. Francis snoozes immediately, but will reluctantly wake up if asked for a post at watch.

"I dunno. I have heard it said that he would depends on a pussy could end up with fish breath. Something about felines liking fish, I suppose." "Granted it would appear that Spooky is sort of helping us, but are you sure he is really going to wake us up if there is trouble. How does he define trouble? He might go off chasing the rats on this boat and then where would we be?" "After all we are setting out to confront djinn and folk that want to dominate this realm. Tell you what, I shall take first watch and then wake up Charity after a few hours."
  11. . . . . . Charity . . . . . "It wouldn't be Borric if he didn't at least ask. But nursemaid? I don't even have the costume for that." Charity replies with a bit of a smirk to go with her unstated passing on the offer, laying out her bedroll as the boat gets underway. "I guess there is a level of danger in terms of having watching or not, but with a guardian kitten and us probably not sleeping too deeply because moving ship, we ought be alright." For a while, the young woman looks up at the sky, and sighs softly. "Moonlight is rather nice, though. Something vaguely familiar in this alien world. It's nice to have those things. Even so, I like the sun better." With that, she seems intent on getting some shut-eye as best she can.

Deciding that he rather trusts the cat, Francis announces that he'll spend the journey sleeping as well. OOC: How long do those +20 temp hp last for?   14. ~ Day 5 Night: Departing Isle of the Dead~ Without a word, the animated helmsman started the galley moving again somehow. The ship pulled away from the dock as everyone was aboard and turned to the west after clearing the land, heading slightly west northwest in the moonlight. Spooky was aboard and found a place to settle for a cat nap, but did not close his eyes, keeping watch.

"Unless Red is willing to join me for some games instead, and sleep would come after." He glanced at Charity and did not see a welcoming look in her eyes. "Okay the, no hide the salami or my good little nursemaid, I take it." "Anyone feel the need to keep watch on this journey?"
  16. ~Francis John, Prince of All Halflings ~ Francis looks uneasily upon the summoned galley with the mysterious enchanted brass helmsman. "So whats the plan again? Sleep on the ship as we travel overnight?" Assuming the others agree, Francis gives command to the helmsman to set course for Khandelwal. Once aboard, he finds somewhere cozy to make camp on the ship and dutifully takes his turn at watch when needed.   17. . . . . . Charity . . . . . Charity nods at Borric's sentiment before boarding the galley once again. "We can stock up on water now, and in the next sunrise, I can request of Cortesia the blessing of water. It comes at a cost, other things I cannot do instead, but it seems like it's worth the peace of mind. The desert will bring other hardships, but we can at least know there will be enough water to drink." Boarding the galley, Charity greets the helmsman simply before stepping aboard. Looking a bit sheepish, she explains, "Seems rude not to."
  18. ~ Day 5 Night: Isle of the Dead ~ It did not take long, even in the dark, to reach the bottom of the hill that dominated the Isle of the Dead. The pier where the group arrived at the foot of the stairs did indeed have one of the domed structures that appeared to be a waiting area for traveling using the galleys to transit among the islands. It worked the same way as the other one where the group first arrived. Blowing the horn summoned a galley, it appeared out of the night just over an hour later. It pulled up alongside the pier, looking exactly as it appeared the previous time. Mayhap it was exactly the same galley or one that looked close enough to be identical, it was hard to tell. The only crew was once again a single ram-headed helmsman of enchanted brass.

"Well looks like we are good to go on provisioning for a desert trek. There is one of those dome huts like the other pier we used so we can get some water and food while we wait for the galley to show up once we blow that horn." He kept walking down the hill, not the fastest among the group in his noisy and clanking platemail armor.
  20. Well, this gives me a little time on the new MW before starting a game, at least.
