  2. @LDDragon, I forgot to add in the damage for Omolara's gravity weapon. The correct damage is 11, not 9.

She gave a sharp whistle and pointed to the statue. "Amosgarn, iritpeck!" The statue was bloodless, of course, but it still had eyes. Perhaps dislodging dust would have the same effect. Two more arrows followed her companion into the fray. Frustrated by her spells failure, she continues the motion falling back to a vantage point that lets her cover the spider-folk. Taking a moment to asses her foe, she lets fly with a pair of arrows. She studied their new foe for a moment. Pottery was an opponent she'd never considered. Still she'd recently mastered a magic that might work here. "I'm going to try a spell!" With that she suddenly dashes forward to lay a hand on the walking statue. Tabletop Action 1: Stride 30 ft Action 2: Cast Action 3: Cast

Fortunately the cohort's newest member seemed up to the challenge.

Fascinating as the idea was, however, her cohort was veering away from important matters. "Where are the anadi now? And, if we're going to invite them to stay, do we have enough open dorm rooms for each of them?"

Surely he was aware they knew far too little about recent events to offer more than a cursory explanation? This must be some manner of test. "The griffons were clearly pursuing the anadis with the intent of devouring them. They appeared emaciated, perhaps even starved. Which would explain their aggression. Though why they would hunt so close to the city, where so much of the potential prey can fight back, is unclear." She paused for a moment to collect her thoughts. "The spider-folk said they felt something was calling them here. At the same time, the Magaambya has been overrun by numerous swarms of insects. I find it hard to believe the two are unrelated. For that matter, the insect swarms were unusually hostile which might offer a furhter clue regarding the griffon's behavior." "As for what the anadis might want," here her brow deeply furrowed, "Perhaps, accomplishment? Some achievement that they can take pride in and earn prestige among their people?"

The image clearly wasn't a phantasm since all of them clearly saw it. But why couldn't it be a glamer or a pattern? In the end, she sadly concluded that she had no clue.

Sorena's question, however, raised a disquieting notion she herself had been stewing over. "The strange attraction affects centipedes and they aren't insects either. That it would affect arachnids thus seems likely. That it might even compel intelligent arachnids is worrying."

Omalara felt her understanding of magic deepen, to the point where she could now perform her mage hand cantrip—bequeathed on her first day—whenever she wanted. Her mastery of primal magics grew as well. Casting her first proper spell was nearly as exhilarating as its disappearance from her mind was disturbing. Unfortunately between honing her mystic arts and her duties as an attendant, Omalara found her studies falling behind. The solution, Esi assured her when the subject was broached, was something called “cramming”. Which, it seemed, largely consisted of using the hours she should be sleeping to study instead. It was grueling. But with Haibram's patient tutelage, and Anchor Root pointing out the occasional misstep, she passed her exams with flying colors. Tabletop Cramming: Until the next time you take the Study downtime activity, you’re particularly tired from all the extra hours cramming; at the start of each day of adventuring, you must succeed at a DC 8 flat check or be fatigued for that day. Haibram Thodja: When you Cram for Rain-Scribe classes, you can Study three times rather than twice. Anchor Root: Treat your critical failures when you Study for Rain-Scribe classes as failures instead. Spent 1 hero point for a re-roll.
  13. , a question about that cantrip we picked up way back at the start. The note you gave me says I gain it until I learn to cast a cantrip from another source. Once that happens, does the cantrip get folded into my spell list or does it disappear altogether?

As she'd feared, the griffon's sweeping attacks had carried them beyond Amosgarn's reach. The creatures have a bloody-minded obsession with the spider-folk, she noted. I can take advantage of that. She gave a sharp whistle to draw her companion's attention, pointed to the closest Anadi, and said, in Elvish, "guard". Shifting her attention to the griffon which had just stafed them, she studdied her target and let two more arrows fly. Unlike them, her companion couldn't attack on the wing so she had to hope their flight didn't carry them too far away. I should see about teaching Amosgarn to do that, she resolved. With a whistle she signaled the eagle to wait on where he was. Fortunately their quarry's path brought it back around to nearly the same spot. She noted distantly that another of the trio had foolishly remained low to the ground but concluded that her cohort should be able to handily deal with it. A second trill cued Amosgarn to resume his attack. A brace of arrows swiftly followed, then a third. Griffons were fierce hunters; driving them off wouldn't be easy. Still they weren't the only raptors around. "Amosgarn, peck!" she called out in Elvish while pointing at her chosen prey. As the fish eagle swooped in and began pecking the beast with his beak, she followed up with a pair of arrows. She tried not to stare rudely but, even without Teacher Ot's meaningful glance, it was apparent that something was compelling them. She frowned. The Magaambya was a wonderful place, to be sure, but no one should be here because they were compelled, however subtly. That line of thought was rudely interrupted by the griffons' arrival.

"Fine, I'll join you. But only so I can keep an eye on Chezire and make sure doesn't land all of you in hot water."
  22. Didn't quite get all those stat blocks done before the deadline but, since it's finished now, I went ahead and marked it complete.
  23. I'd like a bit of clarification regarding the curse. Specifically this: "Animals shy away from you—you take a –4 penalty on Handle Animal checks." Would that penalty apply to Handle Animal checks made on vermin as well?
