  1. Khu, Usherer of Souls - Sheet AC: 17 |  Initiative: +4 |  HP: 38/38 |  PP: 15 As an acolyte of Anubis, Khu was more familiar than most with the souls of the departed. He backed up to a safe distance then shot the attacking undead twice with each crossbow. If just crossbow 2 hits: 11 damage If both hit: 28 damage
  2. Is there any effect if I succeeded on the save?
  3. Khu, Usherer of Souls - Sheet AC: 17 |  Initiative: +4 |  HP: 24/38 |  PP: 15 Khu pulled back in horror as the creature tried to touch him while simultaneously trying to ignore the horrifying screech.
  4. Khu, Usherer of Souls - Sheet AC: 17 |  Initiative: +4 |  HP: 38/38 |  PP: 15 Khu quickly pulled out his two new hand crossbows, quickly sending two bolts towards the archer following Ahmonet's advice. He noted with pleasure the soft notes of song that flowed from the coral-like crossbow as he attacked. Assuming both hit: 14 magical piercing and 8 acid damage = 22 total
  5. Sorry about the delay on my end, I've been off work this week with some sort of bug. I'll hopefully be able to get an update tomorrow.
  6. Khu, Usherer of Souls - Sheet AC: 17 |  Initiative: +4 |  HP: 38/38 |  PP: 15 Khu made to make his way to the door then turned back, "I do not have rope, but I am intrigued and not in a hurry to get caught by a trap again."
  7. Sorry to hear that paladinred, thanks for letting us know. Good luck getting things sorted!
  8. Khu, Usherer of Souls - Sheet AC: 17 |  Initiative: +4 |  HP: 37/38 |  PP: 15 "So where'd you learn to use lockpicks?" Khu focused intently on the lock while he replied to Ptala, "I am a trained assassin for the Temple of Anubis. Often those that need ushering towards his embrace try to escape by hiding behind locks and wards. Your beetle is an interesting creature, is it truly ali - Aaargh!" Pain wracked through every muscle as his limbs contorted involuntarily. Khu breathed a sigh of relief as Mwende's healing touch coursed through his body and mended the damage. "Thank you. Clearly I was not being cautious..." He stood and surveyed the scene inside, then nodded to Ahmonet, "Thank you for your concern. I am fine." The Anubite slowly entered, looking about for any danger, nervously watching Ptala rush about with excitement. "Be careful, if that trap was on the door there is no telling what other dangers might lurk within."   OOC Move up to about D13
  9. Khu, Usherer of Souls - Sheet AC: 17 |  Initiative: +4 |  HP: 38/38 |  PP: 15 The party move on into the countryside and can see the odd shambler here and there slowly moving along the road, as evening begins to fall a ruin seems to be the best place to rest for the night. Getting close Mwende asks Khu "could you be a darling and check the doors for any traps, who knows what this place was" she says in her soft voice.     During their travel, Khu shared some of the details of what his brother had told him of their destination, of how it was overrun with shamblers the last time he had been there, and his brothers request that if they manage to clear the family home of the undead that there may be the family's wealth inside waiting to be recovered. At Mwende's request, Khu stepped forward and began to check for any danger.
  10. Oh I see what the issue was - I didn't realise you'd put IC content in the topic header and I was looking for something in the actual post. No problem, I'll get something up today.
  11. I'm still around! Sorry I might have misunderstood, do you want me to set up a scene talking about Khu's brother's issues in the next town? I thought we had agreed to go there anyway and this was a bonus side mission?
  12. Base XP at level 5 (game start) = 6500 Total XP awarded to date = 1400 Total XP = 7900 XP required to reach level 6 = 14000
  13. Ha, great picture! 😂 That sounds great. Perhaps Alestair helped Pierce to recover the wounded following the initial destruction caused by the Mourning and helped him to return them to safety, following which Alestair was freed for his part in helping. Alestair would have reminded Pierce of his friend Jash who introduced him to the faith.   I figured this was the best place for this kind of discussion as it is the Questions and Discussions thread in the Character Creation topic. I'll move things over to your new thread though I guess.
  14. So I'm new to pathfinder and made a fairly simple fighter to learn the system, but I'd accept any hints or tips on how to tweak Pierce's build.   Also up for discussing any character connections. He may have connections with anyone else who is a refugee from Cyre, or with a connection to the Warforged or Silver Flame.
  15. Khu, Usherer of Souls - Sheet AC: 17 |  Initiative: +4 |  HP: 38/38 |  PP: 15 Khu spent the afternoon reminiscing and talking with his brother. Akhmed introduced Khu to his wives and children, which brought a warmth to Khu's heart that he had not felt in many months. The happiness was short lived however as Akhmed explained how their mother had died of heart break two years after giving Khu up to the priesthood as tradition had demanded. The news only got worse from there, as his brother described how their father had travelled to the island to visit Akhmed and his family but was beset by shamblers. "I had to kill him myself..." said Akhmed as he wept at the memory. "Have you heard of our other brothers? What of our family's home on the island at Tjet Abul Hassan?" Akhmed shook his head, "I have no news of the rest of our kin. I was lucky to get my own young family to safety when the infection started spreading." He looked out with affection at the children playing in the sunlit courtyard, watched over by his wives - one singing a traditional children's song while the other prepared fruit for the evening meal. "By all accounts, the house is full of the undead. But... you and your friends look capable. If you can make it there, the family fortune is still there. I value your life over wealth my brother, but we have lost everything. If you can make it there... It may help." Khu nodded with understanding, pensive at the prospect. The rest of the evening was spent in bittersweet enjoyment of the company of family, while the spectre of those missing from the table loomed over the humble meal. In the morning, Khu bid farewell to the family, pressing a gold piece into the palm of each of the three children. He laughed at their shock and glee and told them to spend it on toys and sweets. Ten more pieces he handed to Akhmed, and with a firm hug he wished his brother farewell before turning to find his companions.
  16. Khu, Usherer of Souls - Sheet AC: 17 |  Initiative: +4 |  HP: 38/38 |  PP: 15 The Anubite made his excuses and bid his friend Omari a good day before exiting the building deciding to take a walk through the town. It was a rare moment to be able to enjoy the feeling of the sun and the air without being on high alert for attack. Of course the assassin never truly relaxed, but he allowed his senses to open widely, listing for whispers on the winds from the community, both living and dead. The spirits often had as much to say as the fleshed if you just paid attention. However it was no spirit that caught Khu's eye, but a fellow Anubite like him. Khu approached a little closer sensing some familiarity, but he had a moment of shock when he realised just who it was. "Ahkmed? My brother?" Khu couldn't believe it, but there, in a guard's uniform, stood his second oldest brother. "I did not know you were on the island - I am very glad you are safe!"
  17. Khu, Usherer of Souls - Sheet AC: 17 |  Initiative: +4 |  HP: 38/38 |  PP: 15 Two items caught Khu's attention, both were hand crossbows which may suit his preference of striking from afar when he had the opportunity to do so. The first crossbow was made of polished mahogany and brass in clear human design, although the engravings on the brass inlays looked to be from a long fallen nation. Despite its obvious age, the weapon gleamed as if freshly made however there was an ominous aura about the weapon as if it had been used for something awful. Khu turned it over in his hands, checking the balance and finding it suitable. As he did so he reflected that perhaps he could redeem its obviously tainted legacy. "Time for you to do some good," he muttered.  The other crossbow was a different thing altogether. The limb across which the string was pulled taut appeared to be made of some sort of strong but pliable coral, gently pearlescent under the lights of the room. The string itself seemed to be made of some sort of woven seaweed, and the handle and body of organically grown shells. Tiny blue fish scales covered the grip, while a small insignia in mosaic-styled scales branded the item as a weapon once used by some sort of royal guard. As Khu manipulated the weapon, he heard fragments of song on the edge of his hearing in a language he had never before heard. Khu looked up with a smile at Omari. "Thank you friend."
  18. Special Features for two hand crossbows...   Opting to ignore the Quirk feature as I rolled the same number on both and many of the Quirks have mechanical effects.   First crossbow: Created during the heyday of a fallen human kingdom Linked to a deed of great evil e.g. massacre/assassination Gleaming     Second crossbow: Creator - Elemental Water. Lustrous fish scales replace leather or cloth on this item, and metal portions are instead crafted from seashells and worked coral as hard as any metal. Symbol of Power. This item was once used as part of royal regalia or as a badge of high office.  16 on the Minor Property table has a mechanical effect (voice can carry clearly for 300 ft), so I will choose a non-mechanical property instead: Song Craft. Whenever this item is struck or is used to strike a foe, its bearer hears a fragment of an ancient song.   I'll describe these items in my next post.
  19. Yeah, I'm always up for making weapons a bit more interesting. I think that is one thing in the OneD&D stuff that looks good.   Glad you're still with us @SID!    Also, @paladinred would it be ok to roll on the Special Features tables on pg141 of the DMG to give the magic items we've got some flavour? Nothing mechanical of course.
  20. Khu, Usherer of Souls - Sheet AC: 17 |  Initiative: +4 |  HP: 38/38 |  PP: 15 Khu assessed the contents of the armoury, looking for items that could help his companions as well as himself. For himself, Khu looked to see if he could find any enchanted hand crossbows. He also checked the sticks, which he assumed to be wands, for anything that might help their healing or protection from the undead. He also looked for any items that caused fire or radiant damage in particular. With the armour, he checked to see if there was anything suitable that might resist the effects of curses or poisons. Finally, thinking of Au'Ra and her inclination towards musical magic, he looked for any enchanted musical intruments.
  21. @paladinred Do you need Khu to make a roll to work out what he's looking at here with the items?
  22. Khu, Usherer of Souls - Sheet AC: 17 |  Initiative: +4 |  HP: 38/38 |  PP: 15 As Ptala pointed out the grim rider in the distance, Khu's canine lips curled in a snarl. He was tempted to start running after the man. Khu was fast after all and he felt confident he could catch him over a short distance. But yet, the man must be powerful to have accomplished this devastation, and Khu was not so confident he could take the horseman out on his own... yet. For now, Khu followed his companions into the town. Once at the temple and the vicarage, Khu busied himself helping out around the small community where he could, and the stoic assassin was even glimpsed playing games of hide-and-seek with the children. At the sound of a personal greeting, Khu looked up surprised to see a familiar face. "Omari? Yes - you are a long way from Spire Quay. I am glad to see you have survived, and dare I say your town seems to be doing well. We would be grateful to see what supplies you may have. I do not want to leave you defenceless, but any help out in the wilds between the towns would be a blessing."   Khu remembered that day in Spire Quay. He had been following a corrupt temple priest whose actions had earned her a place on Anubis' list. The thief had darted in front of him as Omari called out from behind, and every instinct of Khu's training had told him not to get involved and not to draw attention to himself, but the young man found he couldn't do that when he had the skills to so easily prevent this crime from happening. It had cost Khu a lead and earned the priest a few more days of life, but yet Khu had never regretted his actions.
