    PART 1:
    A GATHERING OF WANDERERS

Urileth's eyes narrowed slightly as she observed Billie's defiant response. There was a flicker of respect in her gaze as she recognized the fire in the younger woman's spirit. Despite her cockiness, there was a raw determination that Urileth found intriguing. As Billie deliberately strolled forward, matching her slow pace, Urileth kept a watchful eye on her movements. She sensed the street-honed instincts and the unyielding spirit that emanated from the younger warrior.

"I'm ready for whatever you bring," Urileth responded, her voice carrying a note of challenge. As Billie's wild punch hurtled towards her, Urileth's reflexes kicked in. She deftly sidestepped the punch, allowing it to sail harmlessly past her. With lightning speed, she seized the opportunity, aiming two precise counterstrikes at Billie's exposed flank. Only one of the strikes lands, just merely missing Billie's liver and instead cracking against her ribs. Urileth stayed close, moving side to side to try and make herself a harder target to hit.

Dordin listened to Mags's response with a mixture of skepticism and curiosity. The young oracle's words had piqued his interest, but he remained guarded, keeping his rough exterior intact. He raised an eyebrow at Mags's mention of being invited into Billie's bed and bath, finding it hard to believe.

"Well, Mags, if there's truth to what you're saying, then you've certainly caught my attention," Dordin grumbled, his deep voice laced with a hint of amusement. "Though I must say, it's a bold claim you're making there."

He leaned back in his seat, studying Mags intently. The wrinkles on his weathered face deepened as he let out a hearty chuckle. "Complicated, you say? That seems to be a common trait among those who've seen their fair share of battles. The world does have a way of shaping people."

Dordin extended a rough hand toward Mags, giving him a firm handshake if the young oracle reciprocated. He gestured towards the ongoing fight, a glimmer of excitement in his eyes. "May the gods have mercy on anyone who crosses her path. Let's see what she's made of, eh?"

Forgot to add Urileths Proficiency bonus to her attack rolls but I'm going to keep them as is for this turn. That's one hit on Billie for 4 bludgeoning.

  2. Firstly I hope everyone had a good weekend, lots of stuff for me to catch up on after this extended weekend.

Yikes, this forum really don't want Billie to land a hit... but really, so far I think she's actually up on damage. She's dealt 8 and taken 5, thanks to using unscarred and her raven queen's blessing.

Yeah I'm sure it'll turn around here soon for Billie, I'm scared to roll unarmed for Urileth lol let's just say Hand to Hand combat isn't her strong suit.

Hi! So my thought had been that... if we could take a short rest in the library, Dae could gain some hit points and attune to the daggers while Dam and Lu continue to do research. Seriously though, I don't feel strongly about Dae owning the daggers if they are (not evil and) better suited to Mags or someone in the longer run.

I guess with the perception roll it now depends when Enia has seen? Perhaps there won't be a chance to rest!

Enia has found something! Knocked over books and what looks to be bootprints leading out the back of the Oria. If yall would like to rest that is fine with me!

    PART 1:
    A GATHERING OF WANDERERS

Urileth smirked as Billie's sword went flying from her hand after her well-placed kick. She watched with a mix of satisfaction and amusement as Billie shook her hand and kissed her knuckles, dismissing the significance of the weapon.

The older man smirked and, reaching for his coin purse, produced it and jangled it. "Not such a wuss after all. Perhaps not the smartest better though?" He said with a gravelly laugh. "Names Dordin. You know the ashen-haired girl?" Dordin asked Mags.

"I see you're not one for subtlety," Urileth remarked as she dodged out of the way of Billie's shadow's blow once again. ducking under the arm of the shadow and disengaging from the shadow, Urileth backed a few paces from both Billie and her Echo. "Perhaps a lighter sword would help those wild swings of yours," Urileth said examining her own blade. "I won't need any such advantage." The old elf said before throwing her own sword away. Slowly she raised her hands, balled into fists, and settled into a relaxed stance. "Come on then, the spectators are expecting a show."

@TheWordWeaver Hi! I guess with Dae's last post, she (and I) are wondering aloud if she could attune to the daggers in a restful hour? Thus becoming their owner? I actually don't know if Dae's the best person to have them... she's just feeling a bit spiteful and wants to make sure they don't go back to the guy... 😄

P.S. I can't remember the "real" rule, can someone take a short rest and attune at the same time?

Actually yes, a short rest focusing on them would be the way to attune to them.

    1 hour ago, fenrirlokison said:

I did forget her familiar this time. Would her familiar have seen the attacker run off?

Roll a perception check for your familiar with advantage.

  5. 1 hour ago, Wizard of the Coat said:

Oh, sorry, I should have been more clear. I just wanted to count out 10 silver. Of course, if the guy had something weird (liked severed fingers) I'd have been interested. I'll try to finish the post later tonight. I'm currently 2 hours farther away from GMT.

Lol oh no worries I thought you wanted a count up XD

  6. 28 minutes ago, Wizard of the Coat said:

@TheWordWeaver In the post I'm writing, Mags is going to check what's inside the guy's purse, holding the purse on the other side from the old timers so they can't see it--as if he's pulled out his own purse and is counting to see if he has 10 silver to cover the bet. So I'm wondering if you can tell me what he finds so I can include that in the post.

Sure as you're counting through the coins you find 66 Silver and 24 Bronze Coins.

  7. 26 minutes ago, Wizard of the Coat said:

    Apologies for the double post.

@TheWordWeaver I thought the "gentleman" that asked Mags to bet for Billie was not one of the old warriors. But now I'm guessing I was wrong (from the latest post). So, can you confirm one way or the other: is he one of the old warriors or is he a random patron from the tavern who followed?

No worries, and yes he was apart of the older warriors.

33 minutes ago, Wizard of the Coat said:

Not if she rolls a 7. Can Mags get some popcorn? I know you said the concession stands are closed, but maybe one of them came in to do some cleaning and saw the small audience?

Rum, I feel your pain. But Mags is going to enjoy it either way. Heh.

Hmm sure that sounds fine to me.

Rolled Arcana but also religion just in case, neither very well i'm afraid.

    Arcana roll

The same is true here with Lulani

    6 hours ago, ariel said:

I'll try, Dae knows a bit about everything... but I will expect Lulani to have better luck!

Perhaps from her time in many different places around many different people, or from her time upon a certain ship, she would recognize that these runes are Runes of Returning. While Dae is not sure when she does know that at some point these daggers will magically return to their owner.

Veroth's brow furrowed, his mind racing to protect the Oria and its occupants, An attack in such a public place was unheard of. "This is troubling news," Veroth replied, his voice laced with determination. "We must act swiftly to secure the Oria and summon reinforcements from the city guard. Let me invoke the protective wards and enchantments that shield our precious halls."

Veroth closed his eyes, drawing upon his connection with the ancient magic that coursed through the Oria's walls. As he extended his hands, a faint glow emanated from his palms, spreading throughout the library. Invisible barriers shimmered into existence, warding against intruders and preventing unauthorized entry or exit.

"The Oria is now fortified," Veroth reassured. "The arcane enchantments shall keep us safe within these walls. I will send word to the city guard, alerting them to the threat that has befallen you."

    PART 1:
    A GATHERING OF WANDERERS

Urileth's lips curled into a sly smile as she felt the impact of Billie's strike. The audacity of the ashen-haired girl amused her. "A love tap, you say? Well, my dear, you're in for much more than that," she replied, her voice laced with a hint of amusement.

As Billie leaped away, Urileth's keen senses detected the shift in the air. With a quick pivot, she anticipated the rogue's maneuver and spun around just in time to see her opponent materialize several feet behind her, sword raised for another strike.

But Urileth was no novice in the art of combat. As the flat of Billie's blade made contact with her middle, she swiftly shifted her weight and leaned away from the blow, minimizing its impact. The rogue's subsequent kick aimed at her head only managed to graze a few strands of silver hair as she ducked under it.

Chuckling lightly, Urileth straightened herself, her gaze fixed on Billie with a glint of determination. "Clever trick, my young adversary. But don't mistake experience for weakness," she retorted, her voice steady and composed.

With a graceful fluidity, Urileth adjusted her grip on her sword and stepped forward, her body poised for action. "If this were a cane you'd be on the floor by now," she remarked, a flicker of excitement dancing in her eyes.

The tension in the arena heightened as both warriors readied themselves for the next exchange, each eager to prove their mettle. The clash of youth and experience was set to continue, promising a spectacle that would leave the spectators in awe.

"If your too wuss to make the bet just say so," The man said as Mags moved a couple of seats away. "Damn young bloods." He murmured as Billie managed to smack Urileth unbeknownst to him that his coin purse was no longer on his body and instead was in the hands of Mags.

"Come on Urileth! Kick that girl's arse!" Another bystander yelled from somewhere behind Mags in reply to his cheerleading for Billie.

In a split second, Urileth saw an opening—a slight hesitation in Billie's defense. With unwavering precision, she swiftly adjusted her stance, shifting her weight with a seasoned warrior's grace. Snaking her way around Billies guard Urileth just nearly manages to cleanly nick Billie across her left shoulder. A bead of blood followed as Urileth retracted expecting a return strike from the Ashen-haired girl and attempted to disarm her with a aimed kick towards her blade hand.

Dae's rolls, let's hope she's not poisoned, shall we?

    Luckily she is not 😅

As for the daggers Dae finds two interesting things on them. One is that the blades are indeed laced with some kind of poison. The second is that both blades are engraved with a small rune.

Does Lu see the running bad guy?

    Nice.

Next question is if she would know they are a bad person? I presume it's save for her to assume.

I will not assume that she sees them though.. not yet, even with that number.

if it is a +13 to the roll then Lulani would see a cloaked figure running between the shelves towards the back of the Oria. If Lu has a +3 to Perception then she does not see the masked attacker.

    PART 1:
    A GATHERING OF WANDERERS

Urileth's smile never faded as the situation suddenly escalated, her instincts kicked in. Billie's shadowy echo made its swing toward her, and Urileth's confidence only grew. She moved with incredible agility, sidestepping the attack effortlessly without ever looking at the echo. In a swift motion, Urileth brought her own blade up, swinging at the echo that stands behind her. The attack makes contact, severing the shadow and causing it to dissipate. The old elf trains her eyes on Billie. "You'll have to do better than that, my dear," Urileth sneered, her voice laced with superiority. "I've seen the tricks you wolf pups use. Any originality in that head of yours?"

In the stands, another gentleman that was sitting next to Mags chimed in. "10 silver says the ashen-haired one gets her arse kicked." He grunted with a snort. "Your mutt there might have a better chance, Urileth is a seasoned fighter."

Urileth was now on the offensive, quickly she closed the distance striking with her elvish blade aimed for Billie's own head. At the last moment, she changed trajectory and smacked Billie hard across the back with the flat side of her blade as she circled under Billie's guard and was now at her back. The tip of Urileth's blade was pressed upon the small of Billies back. "One," Urileth said as she went back into a defensive stance. "Your go." The old Elf said again.

The masked man straightened as he watched Dae runoff out of his reach. He clicked his teeth and raised a single dagger at Damaia while walking backward as he eyed the Tiefling. "Seems our playtime is up darling," He said twisting the blade in his hand, he now held it by the blade. When he was outside of Damaia's range he cocked his arms back and launched both daggers, aiming for Dae. Both daggers fly past Damaia and then past Dae as they whiz past her and implant themselves into the nearby shelf. The man laughed as he turned and ran down the opposite end of the shelves. "Till next time darling, keep the songbird safe for me!" He said as turned at the end of the shelves and headed right. Once he was thirty feet from Damaia the sound of his footsteps disappeared entirely.

Veroth looks up from where he had been sitting and stands up from behind the desk and looks at Dae. "Is everything okay over there?" He asks.
