  1. Apologies, traveling and business meetings today. I'll be looking at posting tonight (in approx 12 hours)
  2. Khan pauses and looks at Dorian deadpan. Then with a snort he turns to take his knives from Erika, nodding his thanks. "Winning is largely a state of mind. Some might say that we are all winning as we are forging new relationships. At least for me, this is true." He throws them as nonchalantly as last time, truth was that he didn't care who won this. As the last blade sticks into the wall he wanders over, drags a stool from a nearby table and climbs up rather nimbly to retrieve them. Running his hand over the wall he feels the knife holes. He then drops to the ground to land on the balls of his feet. Stepping back to the others he slips his knives back under his cloak and pauses reaching up to slip an empty mug into his hand. Frowning, he looks into the cup and very briefly the mug shimmers, having been cleaned out by an unseen force. He then takes a different bottle from under his cloak, this with a silver top to it, and pours himself a small portion. Tucking the bottle away, he takes a slow sip and sighs with contentment. Looking at the others he shrugs. "There are levels of taste and I for one can't stand dirty ale." Actions Concentration - Swift Action Three knife throws Prestidigitation used to clean mug
  3. No problem, thanks Re the disadvantage for the spellcaster playing darts, what did you have in mind? He's using Swift Concentration to use a swift action to keep it up and Concentration note "...actions include casting a spell, concentrating on an active spell, directing a spell, using a spell-like ability, or using a skill that would provoke an attack of opportunity. In general, if an action wouldn’t normally provoke an attack of opportunity, you need not make a Concentration check to avoid being distracted." Since making an attack roll doesn’t normally provoke an attack of opportunity I'm not sure how to handle this? He'll make any easy concentration check (+19 to his check) so maybe a -2 to hit?
  4. The wine is offered as part of the competition Yes, weak booze is the swill that the tavern is pushing ;) Well shoot. I'm not in an interview. That's a small kick in the proverbial.
  5. Khan raises a scaled eyebrow, he hadn't expected to partake in the games merely provide an avenue for others to do so. But in an attempt not to be a spoil sport, produces several small knives from under his cloak. "We dragons have no need for last names to pretty like other races but my true name would be a struggle for your mouths to pronounce. So Khan will be what you can call me. And young lady, I am a dragon, we are magic made flesh so I do not have trouble controlling myself." He moves before the board in his own time, holds out his staff for Dorian to hold for him and in a grandfatherly way smacks the end down on the ground in impatience when the human is too slow to take hold of it. He then takes his time to aim and throw. His blades fly straight enough, with the last at least flying somewhat true but he shrugs it off in passing. His way was not to use blades either way this contest went. He then gently takes the staff back. Then Erika heals the wall and the Kobold quietly notes her spell. Might be a touch handy to have on a wooden boat he thinks wryly. "I too do not rely on implements for my trade but a friendly wager is a friendly wager. Let us say if the ladies win, I will buy a round of this weak booze for each of the competitors. If our friend Dorian here wins, for I am but a simple magicker and unlikely to be too helpful, you ladies can do the buying. And the best throw wins this." He then removes a bottle from beneath his stained cloak. It is multifaceted, so dark purple that it bordered on black and held a crystalline stopper crafted into the shape of a bee. It was a fancy bottle of what was supposed to be good wine as it cost him ten gold, but he'd tried another bottle and it wasn't to his liking so he was happy to give it away to make this a bit more entertaining. Notes Sorry, forgot to put Save DC for the Silent Image - 23 unless you're happy to believe its real. Concentration - Swift Action He can only throw two daggers a round as well so the third takes him a little longer. Spellcraft check to see what spell Erika uses below as well
  6. Rather than be annoyed at the almost insult, Khans eyes wrinkle slightly with amusement. "Soul? You mean sod Garth, we both know it. I'm not going to magic you into a smelly human for mere insults and you know it. Just throw the insults, I prefer them. You go too far and..." He lifts his staff in a manner that indicates a spanking but old friends see such things as jest. He cocks an ear toward the singing downstairs. "Right, tell the lady I'm here and I want back on. Then come get me when she's ready." He raises the staff to turn around and adjusts his cloak. "Someone needs to go whip this rabble into shape and from what I hear, needs to be done before boarding as the Swift Vengeance has an ape for a first mate." He winks then departs, he staff clonking on each step before he stands on it as thought to test if it can hold his weight. He gets to the bottom of the stairs and rolls his eyes at the rowdy tune You don't hunt whales unless you want trouble or have a large fleet... He notes Ħraan pointing his way and his eyes narrow slightly. Someone who recognises me? (Ħraan and Dorian) With no other people taking his interest, he begins to make his way over. Some hapless fool stumbles into his path and he gives the man a gentle tap on the leg to get him to move out of the way. He catches Ħraans words as he approaches and looks around, spying a decent bit of empty wall with space in front of it. With a tap of his staff on both her foot and Dorians he gets her attention. "Sorry to interrupt your flirting with this pretty man but I saw you point at me. I would like to know why? But first let me help with your need for a physical outlet... you'll need to use your own darts or daggers however.." The air shimmers slightly and a dart board materialises on the wall where he indicates. Then he stands, waiting for a reposnse to his question. Action Spell-like Ability, Silent Image. Concentrating on this to keep it there.
  7. Kia Ora mate, good to see another Kiwi and really cool to see some of our wonderful culture on display. I'm learning Te Reo as well, got young kids and am encouraging them to embrace our culture (not Maori but I appreciate it as special to our land). Good luck on both the learning and for the game :)
  8. Hey mate, hate to hijack your thread.. are you from Aotearoa? Alot of Tangata Whenua in this character
  9. The strange thing is, in a RL game I use the same Feat rules (selected first feats gain you the feats that come after it when you qualify for them) and I use one feat per two levels. Works for my group and makes non-spellcaster types slightly more attractive. I balance spellcasters differently however, their spells cost them non-lethal health and they can go different layers of exhaustion. Keeps them from throwing spells around needlessly and they think about the cost of their spells more.
  10. As an ex-national level competitive swimmer who trained twice daily, had friends who won medals on the international stage and some-one who is still involved with the sport this seems both extreme and disturbing... I hope some-one in your family had a serious discussion about this level of intensity and lack of empathy for her grandparents. I'm not ragging on your suggestions either but many of these seem like very magical effects. Should not Extraordinary Skill abilities perhaps come close to, but not replicate, magical abilities/spells? Creating something from nothing is not extraordinary, it's wonderous/magical. Steels suggestion of Hold Breath is a great idea. Perhaps replicating Ex abilities is a worthwhile limit or if it replicates a spell, make it several times higher on the skill ability (e.g. True Seeing at 5th level on the skill list? Since it's a 6th level Arcane Spell cast-able by a level 13 Wizard, shouldn't this be a touch higher)?
  11. The worst thing that can happen is that dalamb gets overloaded by all of this. There's alot to track and alot to organise. Let's not put more on his plate. Any rules changes can be surmised at a later date and since most people will want to be playing, changing a few things with your character probably won't be a deal-breaker (and if it is, then some-one else will get to play - no shortage of applications)
