  1. Just seeing what I could get.

    Okay. If I go with my idea for a Forest Gnome Sage Illusionist, then my level 5 ability stats with an Ability Increase (DEX+1 and INT+1) at level 4 are as follows:

    • STR/15
    • DEX/18
    • CON/16
    • INT/20
    • WIS/15
    • CHA/15

    And my PC's current Hit Dice would be 48. (Please excuse the extra rerolls. Once I figured it out, it all made sense.)

    The Mouse whistled softly. Wowee-wow-wow… he thought to himself, these princesses sure do know their magicks! Adventuring with them is like being back at the Mage Towers. I better stay on my toes.

    While Aurora's owl familiar and Eilonwy's little porcine friend Hen Wen carefully made their way down to the campsite to investigate, Mickey quietly pulled out a piece of cured leather from his handy components' pouch, which was attached to his leather belt. Touching the material component to his forehead, then his lips and then his heart, he whispered the magic words, "Sim Sim Sala Bim".

    The air around him seemed to flicker and shimmer for a moment, then solidified into a normal stability. Then he returned the leather to his pouch.

    Gee. I sure hope nobody down there has a Detect Magic spell handy.

    Mickey nods his head in quiet agreement as Eilonwy decided their current course of action. After all, she was the acknowledged expert on the Cauldron on the group. At least, in his humble opinion.

    Chewing on a blade of grass, a thought came to him. He continued to whisper. "If this lot are all part of the bad guys' team, then maybe we're not so late, after all. The encampment looks like it's been used for quite awhile. Maybe they've tried to speak to the witches, but the witches are unwilling to accept the bad guys' terms. At least, right away. Maybe there's still time to bargain with the trio."

    He then considered Rapunzel's suggestion. "Oh, a spyglass. Wow. That would've been a great idea, Rapunzel... but that's a pretty pricey item on a simple tailor's budget. Maybe either Eilonwy or Aurora has one?" Then he makes a mental note to speak to Merlin afterwards about learning a spell that would yield similar results... assuming they succeed.

    No, he thought with steely reserve. They will succeed. They have to.

    He then turned back to Eilonwy. "Your Highness? Have you been to Morva before? Do you already know your way around here? Is there a way to the Cauldron past these pirates? Y'know, like a shortcut, maybe?"

    Mickey then noticed that Eilonwy had cast a Mage Armor spell on herself. She probably did that before we left. As soon as I can get the chance, maybe I should the same.

    Impressed as always by the sheer depth and scope of Merlin's mighty magicks, Mickey quickly scanned the scenery around them. He kept his head down low behind a bush, and quietly gestured to the others to do the same.

    He saw the encampment down by the beach. He didn't recognize anybody, but even he knew that one simply couldn't trust a pirate to do the right thing at any given time!

    When Aurora made her innocent suggestion, he hissed, "P-princess, p-please! Try to keep a low profile, okay? We need to get an idea of what we're up against before we start... wait! What did you say? You can change into an animal? Good golly, that's spiffy. I wish I could do that."

    The Mouse then whispered to the group's leader. "Eilonwy, what do you think? Should Aurora here reconnoiter the area? I don't know if we should rescue that poor guy over there, but at least we could figure out who he is."

    [NOTE: This may be out of order, but please assume that this event happens before the team gets sent to Morva.]

    Before Merlin sends the members of Cauldron Cacophony on their assigned quest, Mickey held up his hand to get the magician's attention. "Um, er, if you don't mind, Mr. Merlin, s-sir? I-I'd like to say a few words to my team before we go."

    Turning to Rapunzel, Aurora and Eilonwy, he gulps a bit, then gathers his nerve. "*cough-cough* Um, your h-h-highnesses? If you don't mind, I'd just like to say that this.... I-i-it's a great honor to be working with all of you on this mission to retrieve the Black Cauldron and stop Death from being, uh, being reborn. (I guess.)"

    "Now I don't really know any of you, and none of you really know me. I'm just saying that I'm just a simple guy from Happy Valley, but... but, uh, what we're doing here today.... Well, what we're about to do is s-save the day for everybody. For you, your families, your kingdoms, your, uh, boyfriends. And-and, well, gosh, just about everybody, I guess."

    "Anyway, we're going to do it, by golly. We're going to do it! And you know why? I'll tell you why. It's because we're the good guys. And good guys will always win if they're doing the right things for the right reasons."

    "So, uh, believe in yourselves, believe in each other, and, um, do what's right. Okay?"

    Finished with his little impromptu speech, the young apprentice clasped his hands together behind his back, smiled that dazzling smile of his, and quickly sidestepped-shuffled back to join the others in his team.

    "Oooohhh, that's a good one, Aurora. I never even heard of that spell! That will surely come in handy, you betcha', " the young apprentice exclaimed in quiet admiration.

    Mickey then turned to the envoy from the Land of the Dragon. "Gee, I'm sorry that you couldn't learn that spell, um, Captain? Commander? I'm sorry, but I don't know how to address you."

    After a beat, he then added, "Oh, uh, w-welcome aboard, by the way. I-I'm sorry. I didn't get a chance to introduce myself earlier. My name is Mickey, Mickey of Happy Valley. I'm studying to be a great sorcerer." The Mouse held out his gloved hand to Mulan in friendship.

    At first stunned by Merida's "threat", Mickey was about to reply when the leader of the Cauldron Cacophony chimed in.

    "'Lecherous'? Um, er, what... does... 'lecherous' mean, Eilonwy?" he responded with wide-eyed innocence.

    Once the BD514 has safely landed, Darwyn unbuckles his safety harness and stretches to his full height. Thankfully Akari hadn't tried too many flashy maneuvers this go-round. "Morgan" then makes his way into the cargo-hold to join the others in loading their shipment for the trip to Hivemarket and Ka Imports.

    Tarik's message was rather meaningless to the former smuggler, so he didn't really question what was told to Raenela and the others. A job was a job, after all, so long as he got paid.

    Once the berries were loaded onto the cargo rig, he goes back to his cabin to retrieve his weapons and duster. He double-checks the charge on his laser pistol and secures his well-used survival knife to its sheath on his left leg. For good measure, he grabs his tactical baton and hides it into a pocket of his duster. With his second skin armor on, he makes his way to join the others.

    Hopefully there's room on the rig this time since he had no intention of missing out on the action again. Just for good measure, he activates the transport's security systems before the crew leaves for its delivery.

    While waiting for Merlin's response to the young sorcerer's suggested bargaining chip, the Mouse is gladdened to hear Eilonwy's approval as she is the expert on the Cauldron. However, he started to squirm at her jest about a date with one of the witches. "Uh, um, I-I don't th-think... I r-really c-c-couldn't... I'm already... b-b-but I'm already engaged to be m-married to Minnie, Princess M-M-Minnie..... Oh, I....gosh." His little furry face blushed at the notion, so he tried to hide his embarrassed look with both of his gloved hands.

    When Aurora complimented him, his face got even redder, but he stood ready to join his team on their assigned quest. He was Mickey, after all, and Mickey always helped his friends.

    I've considered exchanging spells, but I'm going to stick with my current selections. Summoning Undead? Isn't that a Chernabog sort of thing? LOL!

    BTW, I just finished seeing MOANA on FreeForm. (I had recorded it on my DVR.) It was fantastic! Wow! It was truly a great movie. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

    Now all I have to do is see THE BLACK CAULDRON (and read the books) and THE EMPEROR'S NEW GROOVE. Well, and maybe see TANGLED again. I love that movie.

  13. Oh, yeah -- "Conjure Beast". That would come in handy, but I agree with our leader's approach to our task. Mickey will try to avoid combat unless it's absolutely necessary.

    Or if one of the bad guys says something nasty to Aurora, Rapunzel or Eilonwy! 😉

    While the Cauldron Cacophony waited for Merlin to respond to Eilonwy's question, the excitable Mouse suddenly raised his hand. "Oh! Oh! I just had an idea. What if we offered the witches the opportunity to teach here at the Mage Towers? We could say that all expenses would be paid. They could draw a stipend as visiting scholars or something."

    "Oh, we could also say that while they were here, they would also have the opportunity to audit courses. Learning magic from the greatest wizard of them all would certainly be attractive to a spellcaster, as I'm sure you would all agree."

    "We could even say that, if they allow us to transport the Cauldron here, they could continue to guard it, thus enjoying the extra security the Mage Towers' magical defenses can offer. I mean, it's not like any of us plan to use the Cauldron. All we really want to do is the keep the bad guys from using it to bring back this Hades guy (whoever he is!) from the dead."

    Then after a dramatic pause, the young sorcerer continues on a more somber note, "Of course, we should have a back-up plan in case bargaining doesn't work. Maybe we should try to steal the Cauldron if they don't like our offer? Of course, we would need a way to easily carry it. Maybe a Bag of Holding might help. Mr. Merlin, sir? Would that be possible? I've only got 87 pazoozas left to my name at this point. Maybe the rest of my team would be willing to chip in so that we could buy one?"

    "Oh, and we'd need people who were extra stealthy and light-fingered enough to pull this off." He turned to Eilonwy, Rapunzel and Aurora. "What do you all think?"

  15. One more thing — Cauldron Cacophony? Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the villains that we’ll encounter while chasing the Cauldron are Maleficent, Cruella deVil, Capt. Hook, Prince Hans, and Gaston.

    Of course, this is OOC for Mickey. He's never heard of any of these bad guys.
