  1. Idk. I've had some tough family stuff in the last couple weeks, and so since you were the only one I heard back from and you were gonna be gone, I put this on the back burner. I'm open to get back to it if others are.
  2. I should be able to post tomorrow during my commute.
  3. I think leaving one alive could get hairy. Idk that Eabha would be down for an execution later. And like Tecumseh said I doubt we'll get much useful out of him.
  4. Later than I hoped, but I just posted the basic rules: My original plan was to open up a poll about the various sections and give some time for back and forth, but in the interest of getting this moving I would say we skip that. Even if the rules aren't perfect, there is room for adjustments, additions, or balance changes later on. That said, I am open to hearing any major problems or gaps. Also note, I haven't defined the rules for how sharing the duties of GMing will go, these are just the basic mechanics. Assuming people are willing to try something close to what I posted, next steps will be wrapping up our nations to fit the adjusted stats and requirements, and then making any notes we want to about the relationships between our realms. Then we can start.
  5. Eabha As the bandits rush forward, Eabha steps beside Otto to plug the gap, swinging her shield towards the closest attacker. The shield connects, jostling the man. She tries to combo it into a stab with her dagger, but the attack goes wide. Naihm darts around the back of the silt cart to try to distract the crossbowmen. OOC Round 1 Shield bash. Round 2 Dagger stab.
  6. Just barely missed it :/ I'll wrap up the post after work.
  7. Eabha As the old man whispers what heard in her ear, Eabha smiles coldly in the dark. It is not the first time she had been called a weirdo, or even worse. "They will fight," she tells Otto. Calling out again, with Naihm's screeches still backing her, she yells, "The Goddess deems you fairly warned. So shall the deathless haunt of our camp curse you and cause evil to follow you beyond your impending end." The man won't be dissuaded, but she can only hope she causes some to back out, or at least weakened their morale. Turning back to her friends, she says, "The Goddess will grant us victory this night, and will preserve us through any injury. Stick together and watch out for each other, and call on me if you are hurt."
  8. Naihm is Ba-lind and deaf as all get out. (I rolled notice on my last post)
  9. If anyone wants to know what I was trying to describe for Naihm's vocalizations:
  10. Eabha Eabha is already staring out at the treeline when Otto points her that way. She could see the fire of life burning out there before there was ever a glint in the moonlight. She was grateful for him rousing the rest of the group - she had been deep in contemplation when she spotted them and her brain hadn't thought to include the others. Her heart felt as cool and sharp as the steel under the leaves of the forest. The reassuring glow of Naihm's spirit rustled beside her, a physical and spiritual reminder of the Goddess's presence. She tussled the foxes ear, fur soft and lush. Stepping forward just a hair, enough to be able to scan the entire breath of their unwelcome guests, she said a quick, silent prayer and spoke up. Her voice carried across the field in her deep, commanding tone. "The Goddess of the Dead One reveals to me fifteen souls lost in the wood." Her words flow out in a rhythmic cant as when she prayed for a group. "Who comes to delay her ritual with their steel and hasten it with their blood?" Naihm weaves in sounds of her own, a haunting yowl that evokes spirits of the dead. Though not an accurate depiction of her worship, the conviction is real and a deception to avoid the spilling of blood would not anger Airmed. As she waits for the reply, she prays the Goddess will bolster the strength of her words.
  11. Sorry ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Some stuff came up yesterday. I'll post tonight
  12. I started writing a post. Quick questions about Healer's Eye. Healerโ€™s Eye Commit Effort as an On Turn action; while the Effort remains committed, you can use a Main Action to visually detect diseases and poisons, diagnose creatures flawlessly, perceive their physiology, and learn their current hit point totals. As a side effect, you can detect living creatures by sight regardless of available light or obscuring mists. Can she use that main action on the bandits at this time? And if so, does she detect any diseases or ailments among them (even something small)?
  13. Hey sorry, I don't know how I wasn't seeing that the game was progressing. Getting caught up now.
  14. In the meantime, I set up a basic Discord server for us to use: If there are any other channels you think we'll need, feel free to make some suggestions.
  15. Sorry all, last week was rougher than expected. Still got a bit of work done on this though. I'm hoping to have it in a spot where we can review things a bit later this week and start playing beginning of next week if that works for everyone.
  16. Maybe Jorrow (the henchman) can sit there since he's older. I think Eabha +Niahm (or at least one of them, switching off) might patrol constantly since it won't bother her to do so, and like Otto she still can't believe what happened. Sounds great ๐Ÿ‘
  17. Thanks again Rumguzzle for making the map. I'm making progress on the rules. Hoping to post them in the next couple of days or so. In the meantime, I opened up topics for each realm - so feel free to keep working on your background. Now that we know who the players are and the relative positions, we should also start working on what, if any, relationships we have with each other.
  18. Looks good to me ๐Ÿ‘ btw sorry, I meant to give you the settlement names before, not just numbers. Thanks for getting them in there.
  19. I agree about not getting too caught up in the weeds, and I don't want to make you iterate too many times. I think we can imagine parts of our realm even if they're not depicted. That said, I was imagining the empire being part of a larger world. I'm happy for that larger world being off-map for now, but I do agree with this: And I want everyone to be relatively happy with their starting position. I wonder if the problem is having the 3 coastal powers on separate coasts. If is fine with switching to the west, and you don't mind making one last shape change, I wonder if this could solve some problems: You and I would have plenty of ocean to explore and another continent to expand into or trade with, while Allard is a bit further out and has its mountain range (Hakootoko may want the mountains placed differently, but this is just the general idea). The empire also has an inhabited land frontier it hasn't tamed/expanded into.
  20. I think this should work for me: Thank you! I'm still on vacation, but I've done a little bit of work on the rules. Should be able to put something up early next week for everyone to take a look at. Based on our discussion, I'm shooting for lightweight, but comprehensive. So there aren't complex rules that take time to remember and implement each time, but there are enough of them to generally cover most situations. Then, we can fill in any simplicity or small gaps with roleplay. Wish me luck :D One thing I'd like to take a simple vote on now: So far, we have two in favor of getting specific about what our stats translate to (myself being the second), and I believe we have one against. Can everyone give a simple yay or nay: do we want a simple system for keeping track of more granular stuff like that? (Once we know if we're doing it based on the vote, then we can talk about how it would work)
  21. Eabha Having blocked its final attack, Eabha watches as the creature staggers back and falls into the (not)silt. Such needless death. The sight of blood does not bother her - she had seen and received more than her share of lashings. But death... the goddess would not be pleased. She looks at Suibne, at the blade still dripping with the merchant's blood. "But for that knife," she says, "you too might be dead." She leaves a pause before continuing, "Help Toktok lay the man to rest in the ground." Turning to Otto and Toktok, Eabha says, "Thank you for coming to our aid." She approaches the Dwarf and passes him a small packet of seeds. "Sprinkle a few of these over the grave. Then say a few words to avert the Goddess's displeasure on us and to entrust him to Miach." Striding back to the camp, she spots Xan standing among the carts and at the ready. She gives the woman a nod. Loud enough for the merchants to hear as well, she tells her, "Thank you for keeping the carts safe." To the merchants she adds, "We have dealt with the threat, but unfortunately, one of our own has passed beyond this life." Naihm approaches her, weaving between the carts to circle around her legs, caught once again in the reassuring glow of the fire. "I will not speak ill of the dead, but I will thank you all for following our directions. There is a reason for us circling the wagons, and asking for you to sleep among us where we can better watch over you." "There was a saying where I grew up: the obedient survive. It is no less true tonight than any other night. Those who wisely slept in a place of safety have survived."
  22. I figured that would depend on who was chosen since there was some variance with the other apps. With what we have, I think it works to have a cold north ranging down to a semi-warm (Mediterranean vibes) south where Edekta is. I figure the map is meant to serve the fiction and not the other way around. I feel like there could be a fairly easy fix: Something like that maybe. Flip Allard around and move it slightly down so it goes back to being more of a frontier and having an exposed side. Adjust the other landmass slightly and add a connector so there is room for its enemies and expansion. It would give us a pretty solid cluster for the empire (in red there), and let everyone maintain roughly what they were going for I think. Given some of the fluff (Farhaven and Allard both refer to being not well known and far away), I think maybe we should adjust the scale slightly and have more smaller provinces in between them and the heart of the empire, but I don't necessarily think the map would have to be adjusted. We can just assume some of the XXXs represent groupings of smaller realms.
