He is probably near his twentieth year. Though tall, he has to look up to Zurana a bit. This seems to catch him off guard and the easy smile that had been upon his face changes to something else. He stammers, "Um, uh, um, good day, strangers. I'm Milat Ranel," he says, making a slight bow. "What can I do for you?"   3. The group pushes onward, following the two figures. The mumbling Southlander follows with a little urging, though he does not seem to be paying attention to where he is or where he is going. The path once again descends a bit from the burial chamber and after a short distance, comes to a three way intersection. Straight ahead, it appears that the tunnel climbs up into yet another barrow mound. To the right, the tunnel seems to widen, though not like the burial mounds. Just at the edge of the torchlight, two figures can be seen standing. The appear to be dressed like Reavers, but that is where the similarity ends. They are facing away, but then turn and raise their hands above their heads. Blackened fingers end in sharp claws. Sickly yellow specks of light can be seen glowing from their sunken eye sockets. Stringy white hair falls from dead skulls. Their skin is thin and white and covered in strange tattoos and markings, similar to the body found nailed to the tree. These are clearly some sort of walking dead! The lifeless warriors open their mouths, yet no sound emerges as they advance! OOC Uhoh! it is time for battle! They are 25' away! Most of you have a move of 30' or more. If you advance quickly enough, they could be engaged in the wider part of the tunnel and more than two might be able to fight. The place looks abandoned from a distance, though thin wisps of smoke can be seen exiting the chimney. The fences are in poor condition, they look as if they could not hold if faces with something stronger than a mild breeze. The fields are overgrown with grass and weeds, obviously untended for some time. Getting a bit closer, the farmhouse itself, the barn, and the immediate premises around them all appear in good order. On the far side of the house, the garden looks newly planted. A few cows, some chickens, and a few goats wander about the barnyard. The sound of horses can be heard from the stables. Carrot snorts and the couple of horses with the group neigh and whinny in response. It seems the Ranels have just given up farming most of the land and instead farm for personal use only. Whatever the case, an afternoon breeze brings just a hint of an evening chill followed by the more welcome smells of fresh bread and tasty dinner being prepared in the farmhouse. Alvan carefully slides across the ledge, as does Richard. Hank hoists Harolde and gets him across. Finally, only Emily stands alone on the far side, everyone else having successfully crossed.   7. ...and I'm back! though another slightly busy week again: concerts Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Daughter's play Thursday and Saturday evening. But I plan to hit at least one of my 4 pbp games each night before heading out.
  8. Yngvildr moves swiftly toward the other passage that leads out of the other side of the chamber and catches a glimpse of... something. As best as she can make out, two figures dressed in ragged clothing quickly moved out of sight as she approached. Meanwhile, the man looks around, wild-eyed rambling on in the tongue of the Southlanders as Ozemur prepares another torch before the other one finally goes out. As if on cue, the stranger's voice trails off, disappearing into the darkness. A new torch flares up in Ozemur's hand, casting flickering shadows across the burial chamber. OOC Another burial mound chamber. This one has an exit on the far side and someone is cowering where the purple dot is. The barkeep's directions are easy enough to follow and after nearly 2 hours of trekking, the group makes the turn beyond the hill, past the lake, down an old, rutted wagon trail. Almost immediately, Kelvan perks up, one eyebrow rising higher than the other. Discretely, he scans the nearby terrain. To the right of the trail, an overgrown field stretches about 20 yards to a shadow, rocky creek. Past that, a steep rocky incline rises about 20 or so yards to a tree- lined ridge. To the left of the trail, scattered trees, shrubs, and rocks cover the side of a sloping hill. There are any number of places that could provide ample cover anywhere between 3 and 15 yards from the road.   15. vedas man shakes a moment then starts to cry. He takes the waterskin and drinks deeply before dropping it to the ground. He then starts mumbling over and over in the Southlander tongue, his eyes occasionally fixing on the the shiny tip of the Lady's spear. He rocks back and forth, hugging himself tightly. The torch flickers and sputters again, burning down low, close to Ozemur's hand. The skald is sure it we'll be out in mere minutes. A slight shuffling sound is heard nearby, like something dragging over the hard-packed earth, though it's direction is difficult to discern. OOC Ashor is a name you have heard before as the God of the southlanders. Another burial mound chamber. This one has an exit on the far side and someone is cowering where the purple dot is. I'm letting you know that this week between Wednesday and Sunday afternoon, I will likely be offline. In addition to the 3 concerts I'm going to (one of which is an out of town trip) I'll be doing multiple after hours work functions as well. I will try to check in if possible.

He contorts his fingers and face, mumbling some unintelligible incantations. With a soft crunching sound a ridge of stone extends from the wall, making a narrow walkway along the left side, stretching to the far side. "Worked stone is difficult to manipulate.   19. The figure looks as if he is trying to squeeze himself further into the corner he is in. He lets out a little yelp as Ozemur speaks to him. Slowly, he turns his head, peeking out of the corner of his eye. He has the face of a Southlander, though it is covered with blood and grime. He reaches out defensively with his left arm, revealing a nasty, bloody stump where his left hand used to be. He utters a string of words in the Southlander language, still quivering and shaking. His words, at first are clearly spoken in fear, but the last things he says have a more questioning tone to them. When he finishes speaking, his eyes change from a look of terror to one of confusion. After moving through the strange, unsettling archway, everyone takes a moment to gather their feet again. Looking around, the tunnel feels different, older, somehow. The stones in the wall are ancient, crumbling bricks. Faint outlines of symbols and carvings can barely be detected on their surfaces, but due to time, no real details can be deciphered. The chanting is louder now, coming from up ahead. Continuing on, the group comes across a wide pit blocking further passage. The gap in the floor is easily 12 feet across. A deep darkness rests in its depths, and even with Emily's magical light, a bottom cannot be seen. The passage continues on the other side of the pit and along the walls on either side are numerous depressions and handholds, implying one could climb along to ther other side. Dhiir estimates no more than a two hour walk. He goes over his directions again, to make sure everyone knows how to get there just fine. As everyone is gathering in the road outside of the Broken Oak, a well dressed Suel man, someone who has been seen hanging out in the common room of the Inn recently, steps up and introduces himself with a formal bow. "Good morn, to you, my fine friends. My name is Wilmott, I hail from the more northern reaches of mighty Keoland. I apologize, but I have been unable to avoid overhearing your recent plans to delve into the sinkhole. Quite interesting, quite," he says, hmmm-ing to himself. "While I am not one to do such delvings, I am one that is occasionally interested in things found in such places. Of course gems and treasure are nice, but I am not interested in those things. I am interested in more, shall we say, interesting finds. If you come across anything that fits this bill, I would like to render my services as an identifier, consigner, or purchaser of such things." Getting some confused looks from some of the group, he speaks more plainly. "If you find anything interesting or unique, please bring it to me. I have been know to pay top coin for such things," he says with a smile. Richard stands, holding what looks like a lit match, faintly illuminating the continuing stairway. Suddenly, Emily bursts into view, her glowing stone lighting the way forward, though the way back is mysteriously dark. A moment later, Fili, Harolde, and Alvan emerge from the strange magical darkness behind. Almost immediately, Alvan stumbles and drops down hard on one knee. OOC Everyone else that has now passed the arch, please make a Body Sense roll. this defaults to DX-6 or Acrobatics-3 Due to Alvan loosing his footing, Harolde is at an additional -1....
