  1. Last visit on Wednesday the 25th, last post on Monday the 22nd.
  2. I'm not sure what's going on...darlis, should one of us PM Jedaii and ask what's going on?
  3. I'm here, but the game isn't showing up in my games list for some reason. I am, however, still listed as a player.
  4. So wait, examining the hydra doesn't count as an action? There are several spells which might help here, such as Charm, Circle of Darkness, Conjure Smoke, Conjure Missiles, Levitation, and Tricks. A successful Charm might be enough to end this encounter entirely, Circle of Darkness and Conjure Smoke to obscure our location from the hydra, Tricks could slow it down, or Levitation could allow one or more party members to take the fight to the beast. Jedaii, would Charm work on something like a Hydra?
  5. On the one hand, Thalgack has already spotted an enchantment spell on the old man. On the other hand, enchantment also has conjured creatures and charm, so there are options other than illusion to pull a creature. If I say in character that it's an illusion, is that enough to count as 'strong suspicion'? And does my character's ability to detect illusions figure into that?
  6. ...I feel like our party is in way over their heads, unless the 'hydra' is an illusion even if the hyrda is an illusion. It looks like we're dealing with a high level spellcaster here, but other than that I'm not certain what the old man's game is. He may be trying to make us flee without some or all of our possessions so that he can take them, or maybe he's trying to put use between him and the hydra. Oh crap, I just remembered that if fail the roll to disbelieve in this system, illusions can still hurt you. ...Ethraniel brought two dogs, but there are three on the map. Rolled for detect illusion, but badly. Thalgack isn't going to spot anything this time I think.
  7. To say that Thalgack is surprised by the sudden appearance of a water-dragon was an understatement: he'd been examining the old man again when...said individual did SOMETHING and a monster appeared from the lake. After a moment, however, he becomes suspicious: was this a conjured monster, a living creature, or an illusion? He examined the approaching creature as best he could through the fog, hoping to make that determination quickly. OOC Rolling for Detect Illusion, hoping to see if the hydra is an illusion or not. Detect Illusion
  8. Thalgack begins to relax as Rhys checks the old man, his attention turning to the two as the man sits up once more and whispers something to the Ranger. (Perception check) Perception
  9. @Jedaii Okay, I'm updating my post with the role now.
  10. The quiet of the forest is unnerving. Thalgack is no expert on the wilderness like Rhys, but the previous campaign as well as his own journeys had helped hammer home the lesson quite well; the forest suddenly going silent is a warning. Already unnerved, it occurs to him that perhaps illusion is at work, being used to cover the approach of enemies. OOC I'm assuming that rolls for detect illusion should be hidden and done by the DM, so that players can't tell when the skill has failed. UPDATE: DM says that I can make the roll myself. Detect Illusion:1d100
  11. Thalgack thinks that he has some idea of why a dying man might request a coin...but it also occurs to him that the request could be a trick to ascertain whether the travelers have anything worth taking. He redoubles his attempts to spot anybody else who might have been pursuing the old man...or anyone who might be waiting as backup for him. perception
  12. Thalgack's thoughts shift from concern of the party's visitor, to concern for said visitor. "It looks like he is hurt. I don't entirely remember, but...we do not have much in the way of medical supplies, do we?" The magician rumbles, stroking his beard. Then, an idea occurs to him. "Ethraniel...don't you have some knowledge of herbal remedies? I don't know how much good it will do, but it has to be better than nothing." Having spoken, he shifts his gaze away from the collapsed form by the water, trying to see if he can spot or hear any approaching creatures.
  13. It just occurred to me that we don't have medical supplies, and only cybersavent's warlock has anything like medical skills (herb lore & herbal remedy skills). Aside from that, it might not be a bad idea to keep an eye out for anything that might be pursuing this guy who just stumbled down to the water.
  14. Thalgack kneels down to scoop up his staff, then stands back up to wait and see how Rhys's approach plays out.
