Chapter 2: Better heroes (IC)

Shocker

Recommended Posts

The orcs try to back away from the giant toad. and there is only one way to go. Ubruk realizes that the light haired woman who had shouted some gibberish, must be a war leader. Killing her would make room to move. He points at Vala and bellows a single word command "Teckla!"

He takes a swing with his great axe at Vala and this time his weapon makes contact dealing 14 slashing damage.

His companion feeling similarly frightened by the toad glances at the beast, but Ubruk has given the order and so he swings as well at Vala with his axe, and it appears the paladins luck has run low as after being weakend by the first blow this axe also slashes into her side for 7 damage. leaving her severely wounded

apparently not all of his orc have heard him as one of them is turning to Vadania and rushing towards her to smash her with his axe. But he is to hasty and the Elf is evading his attack with ease.

He is joined by the Orc already right next to her with another axe attack. And in her effort to evade the first attack she runs into the swing of this axe taking 14 points of slashing damage

The still restrained orc is attempting to break free of the magical vines. His rage at standing impotently at the side lines grows and grows, until with a bellow of defiance he breaks the bonds holding him in. Hu'k now rushes towards the fiersome toad intend of killing it.

Gilavar watches the leader focus on Vala for some reason. Maybe it's the armor or shield.

After Reitan acts, the elf looses his hunting dagger from its sheathe and tries to create two more holes in the orc leader. With the distraction by the warrior-maiden, Gilavar slides his shortsword in a seam of the orc's armor between its ribs. The point of his dagger scrapes the armor without effect.

OOC

let's deal with a bit of housekeeping first JubalBreakbottle kindly pointed out to me that I had produced another cock up in not applying disadvantage to the attacks on Vala. let's remedy this with this post, but it looks like the 2 attacks remain in place as posted before.

Still sorry for another unnecessary mistake on my side.

The energy of Reitan's spell washes over the Orc leader without any lasting effect.

Begin of the next round of combat

Ubruk howls in agony as Gilavar's short sword bites into his flesh. He is struggling to keep upright. But there is still fight in the Orc.

There is very little option here available for Makaria owing to already being within melee range of an Orc. She begins to utter and chant performing flicking gestures with her hands towards the enemy hurtling more magic missiles towards her nearest opponent Orc 2.

Languages: Common, Elvish, Draconic, Druidic

FeatsObservantQuick to notice details of your environment, you gain the following benefits:

Increase your Intelligence or Wisdom score by 1, to a maximum of 20.
If you can see a creature's mouth while it is speaking a language you understand, you can interpret what it's saying by reading its lips.
You have a +5 bonus to your passive Wisdom (Perception) and passive Intelligence (Investigation) scores.

 | FeaturesRitual CastingYou can cast a Druid spell as a ritual if that spell has the ritual tag and you have the spell prepared
Wild ShapeStarting at 2nd level, you can use your action to magically assume the shape of a beast that you have seen before. You can use this feature twice. You regain expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.

Your druid level determines the beasts you can transform into, as shown in the Beast Shapes table. At 2nd level, for example, you can transform into any beast that has a challenge rating of 1/4 or lower that doesn't have a flying or swimming speed.
You can stay in a beast shape for a number of hours equal to half your druid level (rounded down). You then revert to your normal form unless you expend another use of this feature. You can revert to your normal form earlier by using a bonus action on your turn. You automatically revert if you fall unconscious, drop to 0 hit points, or die.

While you are transformed, the following rules apply:

Your game statistics are replaced by the statistics of the beast, but you retain your alignment, personality, and Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores. You also retain all of your skill and saving throw proficiencies, in addition to gaining those of the creature. If the creature has the same proficiency as you and the bonus in its stat block is higher than yours, use the creature's bonus instead of yours. If the creature has any legendary or lair actions, you can't use them.
When you transform, you assume the beast's hit points and Hit Dice. When you revert to your normal form, you return to the number of hit points you had before you transformed. However, if you revert as a result of dropping to 0 hit points, any excess damage carries over to your normal form, For example, if you take 10 damage in animal form and have only 1 hit point left, you revert and take 9 damage. As long as the excess damage doesn't reduce your normal form to 0 hit points, you aren't knocked unconscious.
You can't cast spells, and your ability to speak or take any action that requires hands is limited to the capabilities of your beast form. Transforming doesn't break your concentration on a spell you've already cast, however, or prevent you from taking actions that are part of a spell, such as Call Lightning, that you've already cast.
You retain the benefit of any features from your class, race, or other source and can use them if the new form is physically capable of doing so. However, you can't use any of your special senses, such as darkvision, unless your new form also has that sense.
You choose whether your equipment falls to the ground in your space, merges into your new form, or is worn by it. Worn equipment functions as normal, but the DM decides whether it is practical for the new form to wear a piece of equipment, based on the creature's shape and size. Your equipment doesn't change size or shape to match the new form, and any equipment that the new form can't wear must either fall to the ground or merge with it. Equipment that merges with the form has no effect until you leave the form.

Circle Form: MoonThe rites of your circle grant you the ability to transform into more dangerous animal forms. Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Wild Shape to transform into a beast with a challenge rating as high as 1. You ignore the Max. CR column of the Beast Shapes table, but must abide by the other limitations there.

Starting at 6th level, you can transform into a beast with a challenge rating as high as your druid level divided by 3, rounded down.

Combat Wild ShapeWhen you choose this circle at 2nd level, you gain the ability to use Wild Shape on your turn as a bonus action, rather than as an action.

Additionally, while you are transformed by Wild Shape, you can use a bonus action to expend one spell slot to regain 1d8 hit points per level of the spell slot expended.
<1/2>
Wild CompanionAt 2nd level, you gain the ability to summon a spirit that assumes an animal form: as an action, you can expend a use of your Wild Shape feature to cast the Find Familiar spell, without material components.

When you cast the spell in this way, the familiar is a fey instead of a beast, and the familiar disappears after a number of hours equal to half your druid level.

The Orc is able to move out of the way of her attack just in time, which may have caused her to rethink her actions, but seeing the brutal retaliation of the Orcs brings upon her a fury she never would have expected. Valas wounds are severe, and Katya curses herself for taking the amphibious form so soon into the battle, leaving her friends without protection or healing. While Ubruk seems to face the majority of her ire, the transformed princess focuses on the secondary attacker to try and make sure that the fighter has time to tend to her wounds. Her bite clamps down hard, the surprisingly powerful mouth of the giant frog clamping down upon the torso of the Orc from behind.

Makaria's magic darts hit home at the target and this time he doesn't shake it off, but cries put before crumpling lifeless to the ground. Ubruk on the other side of the battlefield is being obliterated under Vala Hel's furious strikes.

At the same time Katya's jaws close around Orc3 and she feels his breaking bones and tearing flesh in her mouth, as she let's go of him, he is entirely broken.

This considerably cleans up the battle field

Vadania shakes her head to ward away the pain of the orc's strike and lunges back into the fray. Having dispatched one orc quickly, and the others' actions taking down several others, it became obvious this battle was coming to a quick end. Time to finish them off!

She used her considerable reflexes and enhanced speed to flank around the northernmost orc (6) swinging broadly with her sword and elbows as she swirls by.

After Vadania’s frenzied action one lonely orc is watching over the battlefield littered with the corpses of his fallen comrades.
he lowers his head for a moment before lifting it high in the air and bellows defiantly “Naggelug” and charges with his great axe towards the giant toad in front if him.
