I don't normally do introductions, to be honest. But I figured -- why not.

I'm 54 years-old. Been gaming now for almost 40 years (started in 1984). And when I say 40 years, I do mean consistently. Well ... in the mid 2000s, I did take a couple of years off. Because I tried to get into RP in World of Warcraft but that turned out to be an unpleasant experience -- to put it mildly.

For the most part, I play Shadowrun 5e and good old fashioned DnD (2nd or 5th edition) as my two mainstays of gaming. But I have played (and will play) other games such as Cthulhu, Pathfinder, Vampire the Masquerade, Deadlands, and virtually any system if I'm interested in the genre. There are certain types of genres I'm not all that attached to. But, in any rate, if anyone has an extra spot at their virtual gaming table (I can play either in voice or play-by-post) and need someone to fill it, drop me a line. If I can oblige you, I will certainly try to do so.

Welcome fellow grognard!

There's a lot of fun to be had around here and new games start up all the time. It can be challenging to get into games with the more popular systems like 5E and Pathfinder but on the other hand if you GM those systems you'll have more possible players than you know what to do with.

There's a pretty good OSR and indie community here too, though. Something for everyone.

PbP is a unique way to play. It can be slow and (like most ways of playing RPGs) it is prone to false-start campaigns, but when it is done right it can also be very immersive.

See you around!

Welcome to the Weave, Hannibal! I'm sure you'll find plenty of folks to play with 'round here. Plenty of experienced players around. Although quick note: this is purely a Play-by-Post forum, so you won't see ads for live games of any variety here (and if you do, it's either hybrid, or it's getting shut down lol).

Anyhow, in case you haven't seen it yet, here's a link to our Baldr User Guide, which contains several handy links that you will likely find useful. We do things a touch differently than some other sites, where we have game ads posted and prospective players apply. You'll want to swing over by our Game Ads section to check that out! Every GM does it a little differently, so check the campaign info and forum for the exact details.

We support a very wide variety of systems here, ranging from good ol D&D (of all editions) to Pathfinder to Shadowrun to Fate to PbtA to OSR to, well, I don't think there's a system we don't support or have players for. So if you spot something outside of your norm that catches your attention - go ahead and apply for it anyways. There is much to be gained by going outside of the box, after all.

Also, I recommend getting chatty through out the forums or even dropping by our Discord Channel, especially if you have questions. Just watch out for those welcoming harpoons - they're harmless... mostly 😂

If you have any questions, let us know! Don't be afraid to ask, either - we do our best to help people out.
