Shadowstarr Posted February 27 Author Clone Share Posted February 27 (edited) OOC I didn't get any unprompted perceptions, (normal, matrix, or astral) rolls so maybe You guys would rather I ask for them? not a big deal for this post but we need to have a system of either you guys posting it as a part of your character's actions or I'll start prompting people for them as the situation warrents, which might slow stuff down a bit. either way is fine by me. Barb's drone flitters wildly in the wake of the big box van but manages to right itself and not crash into the snow-lined streets. It is about to fall into an overwatch follow mode to the van. Just as it gets into position the Van passes under the pedestrian overpass... A shuttle "Tink" could be heard from the roof of the van as if something may have impacted it. Ven's detention spell picked up a few metahumans two humans, one of which is armed with a rifle and the other is using a monocular of some sort, on the overpass. Neither seems at all familiar nor do they display any blatant gang colors or symbols. The drone's feed also spotted them as it went by. Pickle speaks through the Van's com. "I think they dropped something on us, it didn't feel like the normal brick." The Van proceeds on, the weather makes the streets terrible. The Van loses traction more than once but Pickle gets it righted. After not too long Picklle pulls it off East Smoky and into the access the lot of the Gas and Wash market. The area is quiet and more pristine looking than it normally wood with a layer of snow covering the trash and broken pavement. From the Van it looks like the market has a few broken windows and the main entrance has been pried open, the doors bent. There are a few snow-covered vehicles in seemingly random locations in the parking lot. Looking over the scene the group doesn't see any obvious signs of the building being occupied. No signs of heat on thermo vision nor does the detect life spell reveal much aside from a rodent or six. The only tire tracks in the snow are from the Van. I quick look on top of the van reveals a small handmade ball of goop with an old transmitter set to send a signal on a specific frequency. A crude device really. 404 doesn't see any active AR icon aside from what the van and the group may be presenting. the visual area is effectively dark. In the meat world, 404 was the first to notice some blood on one of the broken windows facing the rear side of the building where the van pulled up. He also noticed a pair of shopping carts lashed together. The carts seem to be filled with snow-covered bags and bits of junk sticking out. The group can hear the sounds of multifuel engines in the distance. from the sound of it, they don't seem to be approaching. Overall it is a quiet day. Astral space is a bit of a mess in the area. A lot of destruction and deaths of Warrens have left a bad vibe over the area. There don't seem to be any astral spirits or spells active in the area. Pickle hops out and looks around "Seems chill yes?" he says. Detect life is fine to have running I been trying to account for it so far though it seems I should of been more detailed with 4 hits for sure. Silently he sends messages to everyone "Matrix is dark but theres blood on the windows, keep your heads on a swivel. We might want to take a look inside while I inspect our present. Also shopping carts on the far end, no matrix signs but possible improvised explosive device." With nothing in the matrix showing signs of activating it put 404 on edge. He knew it was possible he might have been a bit paranoid but he was always careful with this kind of work. Leaving the others to their own devices he pulled himself up to the roof of the vehicle, taking a knee to look at the device they had dropped. At first he thought it might be something akin to a grenade but it had plenty of time to detonate if that were the case. The odd thing was the lack of a signal but he wasnt about to trust it. Instead he pulls out his survival knife and begins to scrape away the goop to get a closer look at the device, doing a visual inspection first. The "device" is a bit of an oddity. No wifi, not a matrix device. The tech is downright ancient. Seems to be a homemade microtransmitter made from a hundred-year-old amature electronics kit from Radio Shack, with an alkaline battery. (no they don't make those anymore...) The signal it emits is omnidirectional. (detect hidden signals) Puppet does not detect any hidden signals or matrix devices. (100m radius) You are fairly certain there are no active devices within 500m that are not running silent. You are confident that aside from a legit decker with decent gear, there isn't a silent running device around. Signal analysis: The signal is omnidirectional and is not modulating. (basically is just a ping and does not send out info discernable data or info) The signal strength is fairly weak You doubt it has an effective range of more than 3 to 5 Km. (The overpass is within that range to the shopping center.) Drone: The drone does its job and climbs the broken glass and focuses its sensors through the opening. Themo shows no heat in view. (dice roll for drone perception: 1 hit) The drone sees a diming lit cluttered market interior. Lots of trash and knocked-over things. A lot of discarded inhalers are commonly used to dose all sorts of drugs as well as used slap patches. Suit: Looking for traps: Suit carefully approaches the cart and gives them a look over without disturbing them. You don't see anything within them aside from a bunch of clothes and junk. The carts are tied together. There is a good amount of snow on the cart contents, seems like it may be been sitting here for a while. No signs of any metahumans inside but your POV is somewhat limited. Barb: Hardware carts: (see above. There doesn't seem to be anything that hardware could accomplish. He turns it over, and over, and over, looking over the makeshift device till hes sure he's figured out how it was taped together. Only then does he pull back a small panel, an old half taped together battery access panel to pull the battery out and shut the thing down.
