Illumined Utopian [ILU]

ILU Flag
Each star of the flag represents one of the Triumvirate branches while the black arc connecting them signifies the Console's role as unifier of the three main parties. The Arrows reaching skyward represent the emphasis on betterment and continued prosperity for the Illumined Utopian.

Region: 10 (Badal)
Region Name: Height of Utopia

Height of Utopia - Geography

The Height of Utopia is an expansive agglomeration of pressure sealed habitats, tunnels and tube-ways connecting the ever growing warrens of the people of the Illumined Utopian wrapped around a captured asteroid nestled between crippled aero-ships floating in the skies of Badal. Twisting corridors and packed winding tunnels open into vaulting chambers carved out of the very rocks of the home and sealed against the hazards beyond the walls of the habitats. Parks full of looming bushes dripping with fruits the size of most of the inhabitants are scattered through the warrens with plenty of space for all to nest and root and dig about at their leisure in comfort away from the acid skies beyond the glass ceilings and windows. The crippled aero-ships hoisting the asteroid in the skies of Badal are maintained by the inhabitants to stay afloat as the warrens grow and twist around their hulls. In the expansive cargo holds of the aero-ships and in the asteroid captured from Mekhala lie uncountable riches of metals and precious minerals. Beyond the warrens of the Height of Utopia are outlying habitats of the Illumined Utopian run by the Protectorate. The Protectorate acts with its 'vast' outcroppings and aero-ships set for mining, salvaging and defending the floating home. The Protectorate spends its time salvaging from the crippled aero-ships, stripping what is unused and repurposing it for the Jy'mar people. As the warrens expand so much the Protectorate expand and grow Utopia for all future generations.

The Tiotanic is one of the large aeroships maintaining the position and altitude of the asteroid portion of the warrens. A Luxury class vessel build to tour the Badalian air while hosting thousands of dignitaries from across Tekhum it had fallen into disuse and near disrepair prior to the 'collision' of the Jy'mar asteroid with the aeroship. The Illumined Utopian have been slowly integrating it into their Utopia while scavenging its lower halls for treasure and forgotten goods.

The Jy'mar

The Jy'mar are a race of furry mammals small in stature to the stellar norm, 3 to 4 inches in height at the most. A fast breeding and multiplying race they swarm their enemies with overwhelming volumes to make up for their small sizes, which also benefits them in the terms of resources required for growth and maintenance leading many of the people to live in abject 'luxury' wanting for nothing but to exercise, eat drink and multiply. The fervor they hold for their Utopia and its defense is only second to their desire for exotic and lovely foodstuffs to gorge on. The Jy'mar prefer to exist in their natural furred form, while those who volunteer to join the Protectorate forces shave their fur completely and train, live, breath and die in their airtight space suits only taking them off for medical check-ups and when sent on extended leave back to the Heights of Utopia. The People themselves have found introspection and self-betterment a worthy activity with their basic needs met, some do wallow in the abundance but are often shunned by Jy'mar society.

Utopian Government

The government of the Illumined Utopian is headed by a triumvirate of representatives headed by the Console of the Utopia. The traditional triumvirate positions are the First Speaker elected of the Utopia populous, the August Legate highest of the Protectorate and the Illustrated Prime leader of the faithful. These three positions choose the Console from the population of the Jy'mar, sifting through the millions to find those who have begun to elevate themselves beyond their peers. The First Speaker supports the Console on all matters of diplomacy and economics while pleading for the cases of the many protected who live in Utopia. The Protectorate is the military branch of Illumined Utopia charged with the defence and expansion of the Warrens, the August Legate leads the military arm and raises the generals to position of power and trains the Console in matters of war. The Illustrated Prime tends to the Console's questions of faith and ministers to the Jy'mar populous to ensure that the exalting of the Jy'mar progresses.

Height of Utopia Resources

Exotic Heavy Metals {Ores and Alloys - Precious Minerals}
The cavernous holds carved out of rock are chocked full of heavy "rare" metals like platinum, neodymium and their kin while the holds of the crippled aero-ships contain further unknown wealth that continues to be discovered. The Jy'mar have little need for many of the metals as their demands in times of peace are low, as such a surplus is stockpiled as the warrens expand.

Desired Import: 'Protein Heavy' Foods {Meats}
The Jy'mar of the Heights of Utopia hunger for protein heavy foods go extend the supplies created in the warrens and to fully train the warriors of the Protectorate. These meats of other creatures are considered strange and wonderous delicacies eaten by the giants beyond the walls of the warren and across the empty void of Tekhum. A little food goes a long way for the people of the Illumined Utopian.

History

The History of the Jy'mar people is mostly lost to the war of great bombardments, what has remained in the times since was what the Jy'mar have done since. The first recordings and oral tales involve Jy'mar Elite reaching beyond their limits to work magics and hold together the asteroid housing the warrens. The asteroid was sent hurtling through the void of Tekhum from Mekhala and only through great sacrifice of all of the ascended burning their souls were they able to moor the asteroid into the skies of Badal. Times of hardship followed where the Jy'mar's size hampered their ability to explore the now crippled aero-ships they found themselves tangled with as they attempted to reestablish a society. The warrens adapted to the dangers of space needed little modification to adapt to the skies of Badal, but it quickly became apparent the military leaders required a larger presence to ensure the safety of the warrens until Utopia was restored.

Mythos-Historic Archives

Entry 1:
In the few remaining ancient texts from the vaults of the warrens of the Heights of Utopia is the tail of the beginnings of the Jy'mar. At the start of consciousness was naught but strife. Fighting for food through winding corridors and being removed from them to be places in hard cages of metal, plastic and paper. Fight for food. Fight for Life. Fight to connect. Become Better, adapt, grow, learn, adapt. From our strife we became more and more aware as time went on. The winding corridors become homes and havens, memorized the paths and the likely time of the giant's coming. Learned the codes to the cages and the food stores. Through pain we learned not to gorge and have the stores deplete so that the giants would notice, not to be out of the cages when they returned. They feared us, so we planned- we strove to be better, we became better. Once we were legion, but we split apart and escaped, ever growing and striving for something better. The First of Us found it, He discovered the way to rule ourselves. He gave us hope to take lands of our own each night and we followed his plans. Many failed, and we were humbled. But we learned, we followed he who Ascended first. We Followed the Brain.

Starting Techs

Aclaustrophobic Psychiatry: The greatest contradiction of space is that the vast emptiness of the void does nothing to alleviate the effects of being stuck in a sardine can with the same ten other people. Advances in small-group psychology and clinical therapy have enabled the endurance of longer periods of space travel without the mission ending in a nervous breakdown. Due to the tight spaces of the warrens and the large population base of the Jy'mar they developed the mentality and technology to live in tight quarters for extended periods of time.

Badalian Megadirigibles: The rushing winds and corrosive clouds of the Cloud Sea are unique to Badal, and constitute a severe barrier to travel, this tech allows for ground unit transport across the cloud sea.

Religion of the Illumined Utopian

Old - The Illuminated Primarch

The Jy'mar in their Utopia have come up with a series of beliefs and understandings of the greater 'world' of faith, the most predominant is one in which those people who aspire to be better and higher and enlightened having experienced all that the world has to offer can be exalted to a higher state of consciousness and become Illuminated among the commons. The Illuminated strive for perfection of body, form, and willpower to become paragons of their race and faith to further be exalted on the ring'd layers of the path of the Illuminated Primarch. It is the goal of all adherents to reach the pinnacle of the rings to obtain a perfection yet unknown in the system.

The Seven known concentric rings of exaltation are documented in the archives of the Primes and the faithful, rumors abound regarding two further exalted rings beyond the highest ever being recorded having reached.

Natural Being
The Lowest ring is where all people start, the commonality of all intelligent and their base natures only briefly experiencing the higher exalted functions while reveling in the base expression of mortality. The majority of all people remain in the lowest ring, never striving to climb higher.

As one betters oneself and aspires to reach exalted higher state of consciousness and connection with the higher emotions one climbs up the concentric rings through the following layers:

Illuminated
The Neophytes and inductees to the religion all become Illuminated as they begin their journey to the higher rings

Luminous
One becomes Luminous when base emotions can be overcome and improved on, the ranks of the Luminous recognize their own peers and elevate those who they believe can walk in their ranks

Radiant
Experienced Luminous are raised to Radiant when they are able to prove a dedication of form, body, mind or ability that is the expression of their being and soul. This dedication is the foundation on which further rings are build and determines their future paths in the faith. Luminous are tested in a conference of Radiant, Exalted and sometimes Eminent who question and grill the Luminous' dedication to their path, a successful conference grants the ring of Radiant

Exalted
The Radiant are raised to Exalted when then have made a sign of perfection along their path, a dedication beyond all which proves their intention to become the path they chose, the first step in the embodiment of the expression of their soul. The Sacrifice of Craft ceremony is held in secret with a select group of Exalted and Eminent, and sometimes the Prime, for the Radiant to showcase their dedication and path to their to be peers.

Eminent
The Eminent are raised by the Prime as those set in leadership over the followers of the faithful, those marked for potential elevation to Prime who have an almost absolute dedication to their path and who embody it in soul, mind and body.

Prime
There is one Prime in the ranks of the Illuminated Primarch, they lead the faithful and settle disputes of position and teachings.

Old - Soul's Expression

Soul's Expression:

It is the ultimate Expression of the Soul that drives one to improvement. If one seeks out the purest form of their Soul's Expression they will no doubt find self-improvement and obtain enlightenment on their path. The Paths of Expression speak of how improved one has become toward being an ultimate paragon of the Soul.

There are a few checkmarks along the Paths of Expression that one checks as they grow to determine their continued progress.

The first checkmark is Realization, when one has determined what the Expression of their Soul is. This is considered the most frustrating part of the Paths as many have issues finding what it is they are truly called to do, which path to follow.

The second checkmark is Actualization, when one is able to materialize what the Expression of their Soul is. Be it art, plays, warfare, dancing, oration or leading. Many stay in this stage most of their life not striving for the higher goals.

The third checkmark is Mastery, when one is able to perfectly Express their Soul and teach others on their path of expression they are considered to have reached the third checkmark.

In rare cases people of exceptional passions and will will master multiple Expressions of the Soul in their lifetime, giving reflection of the power of their improvement.

While all Expressions of the Soul are accepted and tolerated, some Paths of Expression are contradictory toward others, while adherents are told to accept others as they are, the more disruptive paths are more regulated and personally overseen by the Prime.

The Prime acts as a governing body over the various Masters and the various Paths of Expression. They reign in the more 'disruptive' of the paths to try and find where they can fit into the bigger picture. Mediation between various parties and disputes are sorted out by the Prime.

Soul’s Fascination:

The Biarbu and the Jy’mar realize that their faiths are different sides of the same coin. One’s path through life is Fated and continued acceptance and self realization of your place in the world. With the addition of more and more faithful the leaders of both convened to discuss what they truly believe and codify both religions into a combined entity.

Fascination is a simplified phrase for the observance of Fate. Be it something as simple as watching the dice fall to see what numbers occur, something more personal like accepting what has happened outside of your control, or far more difficult: nudging the outcome of a complex issue in some way, just to see what happens or to progress your Fate in the direction of one’s Path.

It is the ultimate Fascination of the Soul that drives one to improvement on your fated path. If one seeks out the purest form of their Soul's Fascination they will no doubt find self-improvement and obtain enlightenment on their path and their place in the observance of Fate. The Paths of Fascination speak of how improved one has become toward being an ultimate paragon of the Soul and mastery and acceptance of one's Fate.

Tenants of the Soul:

Oh great sage, what is to be this one’s fate?

What has happened, happened.
The past cannot be changed and we can only accept it.
We learn from our failures and continue our Path.

We are all part of the Dance of Destiny.
Sometimes we dance together, sometimes we dance apart. The Random Will of the Cosmos and our fated paths has us dancing together even if we can’t hear the music.

Respect the Fate of others.
Acting, or not acting, upon someone else’s Fate intertwined them with yours. After all, consequences are a form of destiny all on their own.

Coincidences occur everywhere, delightfully
Observe the now when you can, to take it all in. The past is, indeed, immutable; the die has been cast and those roads now trod. We can enjoy the fall and the spin to appreciate not just what was but what is now.

What will happen, takes effort
The most difficult of steps for those that are Fascinated is learning how to effect change. While some may call it Luck, you can choose to be in positions and places that make yourself far more likely to be ‘Lucky’. Improvement cannot be gained without risk or effort.

Paths of Fascination:

Do not ask me about your fate.  I don’t know.  I barely know what mine is.  Discovering it is part of the path.

Realization
The first checkmark of the Paths is recognized when one has determined what their Soul’s Fascination is. This is considered the most frustrating part of the Paths as many have issues finding what it is they are truly called to do, which path to follow and begin learning how to effect change and the effort involved.

Actualization
The second checkmark of the Paths is recognized when one is able to materialize what the Fascination of their Soul is. Be it art, plays, warfare, dancing, oration or leading. Many stay in this stage most of their life not striving for higher goals of effecting change and putting in the effort to improve further.

Mastery
The final checkmark is when one is able to perfectly display their Soul’s Fascination and teach others on their path of fascination. In few cases people of exceptional passions who have learned how to make themselves ‘Lucky’ will master multiple Fascinations of the Soul in their lifetime, reflecting the power of their improvement.

Role of the Patriarch:

While all adherents of the Tenents are accepted and tolerated, some Paths of Fascination are more contradictory toward others and involve themselves more in the Fate of others. While adherents are told to accept others as they are and take responsibility for the intertwining of their Fates, the more disruptive paths are more monitored by the Patriarch and the Primes.

The Patriarch acts as the ultimate governing body over the followers of the faith while being the final adjudication on issues related to the Tenents of the Soul and the Paths of Fascination. A group of recognized Primes help in the load of initial adjudication but petition to have your issue heard by the Patriarch is respected. The Patriarch reigns in the more 'disruptive' of the members to try and find where they can fit into the Random Will of the Cosmos.

Holy Orders:

Prime's Paragons
PP.jpg.906ec1eeddf2b006ec867f1a017f8365.jpg

The Prime's Paragons are an order of Soul's Expression(?) members focused on enacting the will of the Prime, the Leader of the Soul's Expression(?) flock.

They act as the investigative and militaristic branch of the faith and is traditionally made up of masters whose paths synchronized with that direction.

After them being brought into the limelight following the Basu-Rahman Group's base destruction on Sansar Prime Marcus decided to allocate a dedicated space for them in the Warrens of the Heights of Utopian for them to reside on maintain their position.

Military Force Record

The 101 Praetorians

Ground: Active since 2034

The 101 Praetorians are the premier fighting force of the Utopian Protectorate core. The force is constantly recruiting to maintain a steady 101 squads led by some of the most trained of the Jy'mar citizens. All of the protectorate forces aspire to be part of the prestigious force that held the outside at bay when the warrens first landed on Badal. Being a vestigial link to the time before the war of Eternal Bombardments the 101 Praetorians remain a testiment to Jy'mar resiliency.

Actions:

  • Successful Invasion of Region 45, 2037-2039 (Battle)
  • Successful Invasion of Region 37, 2043-2045 (Battle)

Fleet of Equitable Footing

Space: Active since 2037

The Equitable Footing is a Large Destroyer class ship boasting over 10,000 crew members while being fully capable of having a limited number of 'large sized' humanoid captives or visitors aboard the ship in designated 'Oversized' areas. The First in its class of being able to allow non-Jy'mar onboard a space vessel its use would largely be diplomatic in nature and is a variation from the coupled dock method most inter-species connections would be made with Jy'mar ships. The rest of the Equitable Footing fleet contains hundreds of cruiser class vessels and support ships to picket and defend the Equitable Footing in combat arms as well as to swarm any over-sized enemy.

Actions:

Merchant's Irregulars

Space: Active since 2043

With the success of the inter-orbit insertion of the 101 Praetorians the recruiters of the Illumined Utopian start working overtime to be able to defend multiple orbits at the same time! From the recruiting efforts enough Jy'mar trading vessels and Jy'mar sailors are cobbled together to form the Merchant's Irregulars!

Actions:

  • Successful Orbital Suppression of Region 37, 2043-2045 (Battle)

The Parvus Dragoons

Ground: Active since 2046

The Jy'mar control over the wyrmlands swell as military advertisements pull an unprecedented amount of wyrmblessed hopefuls to join the Utopian forces. Combining them with Jy'mar veterans the combined arms of the scaled humanoids and the diminutive Jy'mar allow for coordination and collaboration unheard of by Utopian tactics. The Parvus Dragoons was born.

Actions:

Wyrmlands - Geography, Fauna & Flora

The Wyrmlands (known colloquially by certain Sansarite elect as North Up Chonkia) consists of two separated artic tundras with some fairly temperate plains and hills connecting the two. The eastern end of the Wyrmlands shares the waterways with the Arkhive with seasonal ice shelves and freezes creating a ground connection between the regions. In spite of the western tundra a cluster of active and dormant Volcanos make up what is known as the Wyrmholds, for here be Dragons. Well, wyrms - well, large lizards capable of limited flight who bask on the heat given off by the magma formations and the active lava flows. These 'wyrms' flock around the volcanos and seem to have been receptive to the inhabitants of the Wyrmlands, many of whom live in unity with the lizards, some even bonding and training the creatures. Like their rumoured cousins the wyrms seek out shiny treasures and hoard things they find as they dive through the lava floes.

The self titled Wyrmhold is the largest of the Volcano Cities that pepper the area known as the Wyrmholds. The Wyrmhold is carved directly into the largest volcano the city rises from the glaciers and fjords at the foot of the Wyrmseer's Mount all the way to the caldera of the volcano. Spires of obsidian twist with sculptures of ice to form perches and wyrm perch prevention measures for the different tiers of the City.

In the lowlands between the tundra regions wildlife blooms as creatures seasonally flock and migrate through the lands scavenging the plant life of what many say are part of the planet spanning entity known as Coedd. Here farming settlements and livestock habitats are maintained and monitored for the benefit of the Wyrmhold and the other Volcano cities. Some of the inhabitants remain nomadic, preferring to travel from the foot of the Wyrmholds to the eastern tip of the Wyrmlands near the icy border with the Arkhive.

The Inhabitants

The myths of the people living in the Wyrmholds revolve around the varieties of Wyrm that inhabit the volcanos and the Dragons that slumber in the earth. Many of the people appear to have the touch of the dragons growing scales in patches instead of skin and eyes slitted like the wyrms they care for, and generally refer to themselves as wyrmblessed or dragon-touched. Whether it is the magic of the Dragon Eyes they live in proximity of or some longer genetic connection to Dragons of old the people do not know for certain, but their faith would claim it is ancestry from the dragon Kribukyo.

The Major religion, Kribukyo, centres on the veneration of old ancestral dragons and involves the chanting and prayers spoken in the dead dragon tongue. The adherents believe that in completing the rituals to perfection they maintain the (relatively) peaceful volcano's from erupting with Kribukyo's wrath. The high priests believe that a coming disaster will signal the return of Kribukyo which would purify and cleanse all of Sansar in dragon fire making the lands fresh anew for life to again flourish.

The nomadic tribes wandering the icy tundra of the eastern steppes maintain their own ways and do not interfere with the schemes of the Wyrmholds, instead trading with the farming villages in the lowlands the pelts and other items found in the tundra for modern provisions and equipment. These people live as their ancestors had before them stretching back eons into the past with only some modern conveniences integrated with the largely hunter-gatherer lifestyle and have been largely dubbed as the Tribes of Ice. They mostly proscribe to the Blokanite faith, which is the belief in the existence of a will or spirit contained in all of the elements of the worlds. For them largely they listen to the spirits of ice and wind of the Blokanite faith, but some faithful say the spirits of fire speak to them in the Wyrmholds.

The Farming villages in the lowlands feature a blend of both regional cultures, acting as the melting pot between the Tribes of Ice and the Dragon-Touched. While not entirely a regional hub for mercantilism a good portion of the food and industrial equipment is used, purchased, repaired or made in the lowlands due to the availability of space. Relics of the Phinite manufacturing group who founded a good portion of the equipment produced from the lowlands is maintained by a religious group who say the studies and technical documents from the era's bygone require the religious attention given to ensure the ancient machinery continues to produce its needed goods. The cult of Phinites grows among the farmers as they complete preventative maintenance on Phinite equipment with greater success when using the cult's ritualistic approach to repair.

Wyrment of Wyrmhold

The Wyrment of Wyrmhold governed the Wyrmlands and the lowlands in the Wyrmseer's name when he was ruler of the Wyrmlands. A panel of hold leaders from each volcano city are represented in the Wyrment giving voice to the needs and wants of all the volcanos. With the invasion of the Jy'mar a good portion of the old leaders of the Wyrment fell in battle as they led the forces of their volcanos against the Illumined Utopian. With the Wyrmseers surrender the Wyrment was prepared to dissolve, but the Illumined Utopian mandated that they remain in control of their own holdings but answer to Utopian instead of the Wyrmseer.

The Wyrmseer remains secluded in this abode, taking applicants for future telling as he did before, but now without the pressures of controlling the government.

The Tribes of Ice continue to observe their non-interference with the government change and are content to be left alone on the eastern steppes.

Wyrmlands Resource

Dragon Eyes {Magical Items & Construction Materials}
Aspiring wyrm trainers managed to train the hoarding wyrms to travel through the lava floes in search of a rare magical gem found in the Wyrmlands. Dragon Eyes, a usually spherical gemstone with magical properties. Dragon Eyes are mostly transparent with each having a unique inner pattern that swirls to the center of the gem. The believers of myths say these magical gemstones are truly the eyes of ancient dragons laid to rest in the Wyrmlands and that obtaining them and selling them is blastphamy against the old faiths. The more monetary driven wyrmhandlers are happy for the windfall whenever a wyrm brings up a Dragon Eye. The Magical properties of Dragon Eyes are endless, capable of storing large quantities of various different types of magic they are sought after by mages, cultivators and seers alike. Rumors abound that the Wyrmseer uses an unprecedented quality Dragon Eye that is almost a foot in diameter, this is hard to confirm as the elusive seer does not leave his abode. With the arrival of Jy'mar metallurgists to the volcanos further study of the Dragon Eyes continues as the Jy'mar experiment with the resource. An oddity is found that when the Dragon Eyes are expose to the extreme cold and vacuum of space the Dragon Eyes become moldable, able to maintain the gem's transparencies, magical quality and unique swirls while deforming to any wanted shape greatly useful for constructing windows. This discovery sparks a new industry in the Wyrmlands and further increases demands on the Dragon Eyes.

Desired Import: (Precious Minerals)
The Inhabitants of North Left Chonkia like the lizards that are common in the wyrmlands have the touch of avarice. Precious minerals, gold and silver and other gems are highly demanded to bolster their wyrm's hoards or for the peoples own hoards.
