Lastanor Nightwater

SahuaginDDtransparent.png.25eb0739bea280163e7e1e369828781c.pngLastanor's hood turned to give Rib Lilysinger a brief glance, before stopping and taking a proper look, taking in their froggy appearance.
"You were singing earlier," he observed, before a thought occurred to him, "Your name wouldn't happen to be Michigan J. Frog, would it?"

After that bizarre question, Lastanor's gaze returned to what was evidently a chart he was plotting out.
"You may look, if you wish. I am currently calculating a route to the shipwreck of the Wise Turtle. It was a sturdy ship that often sailed as escort during the war, before being sunk by the Iverinans. From what I've heard, while the captain managed to save the crew, some of his...more valuable personal effects went down with the ship." he explained.
"That is what I do; I locate shipwrecks and other ruins on the ocean floor, and I recover what there is to be recovered. Sometimes I recover the entire ship." he added, with an audible if not visible smirk.

Turning back to Rib, Lastanor reached up and pushed back his hood slightly, so his face and eyes were at least partially visible.
"What about you?" he asked, "I assume that you are applying for a position on the Swift Vengeance. What goals do you have in doing so?"

Mechanics

Rib Lilysinger, a charismatic and enigmatic figure, meets Lastanor's gaze with a bemused expression. His amphibian eyes, always twinkling with amusement, now hint at intrigue at the unexpected reference.
"Michigan J. Frog, eh? Quite the name, but alas, not mine," Rib replies with a chuckle, his melodious voice carrying a hint of self-deprecation. "Though I must admit, I've been known to croon a tune or two, especially when the mood strikes."
As Lastanor divulges his profession and the tantalizing prospect of treasure buried beneath the waves, Rib's interest is piqued even further. The mention of sunken riches sparks excitement in his amphibian heart, stirring memories of his grandfather's tales and the allure of the unknown.
"Ah, the Wise Ocean's secrets, hidden beneath the waves," Rib muses, leaning in slightly to catch every word. "A treasure hunt, you say? Now that sounds like quite the adventure."
But as the conversation turns to Rib's goals and aspirations, a shadow crosses his amphibian features, briefly clouding his usually jovial demeanor. The weight of his debts and the looming threat of violence hang heavily in the air, a stark reminder of the personal struggles he faces in Vern.
"I seek more than just a position on the Swift Vengeance, my friend," Rib admits, his voice tinged with solemnity. "I seek escape, a chance to leave behind the debts that haunt me in Vern and possibly repay them. But more than fortune, I also seek to discover the next great song of adventure, but the truly great ones come from experience, not from just making one up."
Rib's eyes gleam with unwavering determination as he speaks, his resolve shining through the clouds of adversity. Though the road ahead may be perilous, Rib's spirit remains unbroken. With a song in his heart and adventure on the horizon, he knows anything is possible.

Song for Lastanor(Verse 1)
Upon the tavern stairs he stands,
Lastanor, the sahuagin with plans,
His gaze sweeps 'cross the lively crowd,
Lost for words, but proud.

(Chorus)
Sailor, seeker of lost tales,
Charting courses where adventure sails,
In the depths, treasures he seeks to find,
Lastanor, with dreams unconfined.

(Verse 2)
Books and maps spread before his eyes,
A plan unfolds 'neath tavern skies,
Shipwrecks and ruins, his domain,
Where history's secrets remain.

(Chorus)
Sailor, seeker of lost tales,
Charting courses where adventure sails,
In the depths, treasures he seeks to find,
Lastanor, with dreams unconfined.

(Verse 3)
Rib Lilysinger, a frog of song,
Joins the conversation before long,
His melody weaves through the air,
A troubadour without a care.

(Chorus)
Sailor, seeker of lost tales,
Charting courses where adventure sails,
In the depths, treasures he seeks to find,
Lastanor, with dreams unconfined.

(Bridge)
Debts and struggles weigh on his mind,
But still, Lastanor's spirit shines,
For he knows the sea holds mysteries vast,
And fortune may come at last.

(Chorus)
Sailor, seeker of lost tales,
Charting courses where adventure sails,
In the depths, treasures he seeks to find,
Lastanor, with dreams unconfined.

(Outro)
So here's to Lastanor, brave and bold,
In search of stories yet untold,
May the waves guide him, strong and true,
As he sails where few dare to pursue.

Sven

Sven breaks away from the singing frog once he hears the enchanting melody coming from the new person on the stage. As she switches tunes, he recognizes it and joins in along with others.

As she is finishing the one tune, he looks her over and scratches his head. Flipping upside down and looking at the lady in question, he waits for the last note before introducing himself.

"Why hello there! That was one enchanting melody followed up by quite a fun one! You seem familiar. Have we worked together before?"

I accept Quotara's drink. "Thank you." I sip.

"Yes, I believe the Sail's Edge once stopped by my family's shipyard - the Sendarine Shipyard?" I momentarily pose a questioning look. "A merchant ship, I remember - captained by a lady of some repute. And the Resolution... One of the Navy's newer ships, no? I have heard of it, but do not recall much."

spacer.png Zette smirks at the cat. "Oh, alright. If it will make you happy." She watches the stones, steps closer to him, and adds, "What happens if I snatch one?!"

"You can give meowdi pets, and yous can has one you can catch." Gatto says to the tiny winged elf girl, "Only one pleasse."

He then bats them away again so they go wide and begin to float back to him, his eyes dart to each one as they do. Gatto begins to dance about on the tip of the table, albeit poorly, but no matter how often he teeters sideways, he doesn't actually fall off, simply remains glued to whatever he's touching without any effort.

"Most likely then. Captain Beckett is as rich in her years as she is in coin. As for the shipyard..." The mermaid considers, taking a sip and moving to a table, taking a seat and allowing her natural form to revert. "At that time I didn't have legs so I might have only seen it in a way that you probably haven't seen it. Is your family shipyards for what style of ships? As for The Resolution it is one of the new firstly commissioned vessels after the war as opposed to recommissioning lost vessels or reusing previous designs." Quotara gets animated speaking about it, smiling wider and speaking with her hands as much as her mouth. "A real heavy frigate design, going for an off set double deck to avoid..." Quotara will ramble unless stopped.

The Stage-Sven

Erika opened her eyes as she finished her second song to see the small pixie trying to get her attention. With a practiced grace, she replaced her violin and the bow back into its protective waterproof case and flicked the clasps to keep the container closed. She studied the brightly colored fey with a discerning look as she picked up her case, she tried to place the small humanoid. “I… Can’t say that I recall you?” Erika said as she scrunched her brows up in concentration. “My apologies.”  She said as she gracefully made her way down off the stage.

Approaching Sven, Erika extended her free hand with a smile. “I am Erika Sanolda.” She said by means of introduction. “I most recently served on Flower de Luce, under Captain Ha’shim… Though admittedly he hasn’t had much in terms of passengers these last few years. Mostly cargo.” Erika made a small shrug of her shoulders to indicate that it wasn’t that important. “What ship did you most recently serve on?” She asked curiously as she attempted to kill time before her interview began.

Gatto looks around for Zette and where she ran off too, then realizes that she must be the ball of light. "Shiny tinies elf girl is more shiny." he exclaims, easily excited. "I can't be shiny, but I can be many things." his eyes light up as he suddenly turns into a tiny little firefly and floats around next to Zette. Circling around her a few times, he gently lands on the table and returns to his catfolk form.

"I can bees bugs." he says proudly.

Quotara

Moving her hands to help her to describe as she talks. "Now normally you want to stack one directly atop the other in order to allow for using solid pieces to create compartments to seal bow or stern but with the new treatments of ironwood they were able to still make them below the waterline but having the gun decks offset. The advantage of doing that means that if an opposition spell caster targets your sidewall the interlocking planks spread the damage better than stacked ones. I do wish I could have been assigned to The Defiance after the fact, as The Resolution was made for getting close with a double deployment of boarding Marines." With a sigh she takes a drink then continues. "Which means that a full combat patrol can only make it from Queenstown to Vern. So much resupply! Maybe the plan might be to float a supply fleet but... not sure if its worth making such a large ship for something so defensive." Another sigh, pouring a drink but not taking it yet, her tail flicking as she holds back her next comments, but then shifts and takes the drink. "Now The Defiance can put you not for a deployment long enough to make you miss home or really chase down a pirate back to their base. But she is a recommissioned style which proved quite well during the war so not as prestigious as The Resolution."

Lastanor Nightwater

SahuaginDDtransparent.png.25eb0739bea280163e7e1e369828781c.pngLastanor was silent for several seconds after Rib's song about him finished.
"...Do you...narrate everything you do in song? Sir Lilysinger?" he finally asked.

Turning back to his books and charts, staring at them but not quite reading them at the moment, he muttered in a low voice, "Neither side of my family thinks highly of debt. My elven side prefers charity over account-keeping, and my fishy side, well, authoritarianism..."

Trailing off, the sahuagin wizard was silent for a while, contemplating cultural matters, before raising his head to look at Rib again.
"On a different note...no pun intended, what do you think of Captain Zentaru?" he asked.
"I spoke to her earlier about passage on the Swift Vengeance, I thought she was- did that cat just turn into a glowbug?" he interrupted himself, an arm pointing in Gatto's direction.

Rib Lilysinger chuckles at Lastanor's question, his amphibian eyes twinkling with mischief.
"Well, not everything, my friend," Rib replies with a playful grin. "But when the mood strikes and the moment's right, a song can make even the simplest of tasks more...entertaining, wouldn't you agree? I am just trying to idle away the time and make friends with possible future crewmates."
As Lastanor shares his thoughts on debt and family values, Rib nods sympathetically, understanding the weight of familial expectations. However, his jovial demeanor returns as Lastanor shifts the conversation to Captain Zentaru.
"Ah, Captain Zentaru," Rib muses, tapping a webbed finger against his chin. "A formidable leader, to be sure. Though I must admit, my interactions with her have been rather brief. But from what I've seen, she commands respect and exudes an aura of authority."
As Lastanor's attention is momentarily diverted by Gatto's transformation, Rib can't help but chuckle at the catfolk's antics.
"That bug impersonation was quite impressive, wasn't it?" Rib remarks with a smirk. "Though I must say, I'm rather glad I had my fill earlier. Flying too close to the reach of my tongue might have been...illuminating, to say the least." making a jazz hand from his stomach.

Gatto's ear twitched as he heard the froglike man speak about his impersonation. A sense of pride once again welled up inside him as he was praised. Also aware if the frogman ate him, he would have been very wet and unhappy. Gatto chose to stay where he was near the glowy ball of elf light. Gatto asked the ball of light, "Which one you like?" he asks, letting her pick between blue, red and yellow of the painted ioun stones."

Sven

Sven.png.a51d218807e0799d6405f6f3d17a2604.png

Sven flips right-side up and takes her hand.

"Sven. Recently? Well... it depends on your point of view! Legally, The Freebird with Captain Dunkirk. Not-so-legally, The Rapier with the same. It just really depends on which side of the law you fall on if you choose to use said Captain's name. Anyways, we probably passed each other more than a few times on the docks then on the ships. It would be hard to forget that sound."

Sven thinks for a few moments. "The Auricula...the name sounds familiar. Ha'shim..." He ponders for a moment more before the light shines in his eyes. "Ah! Yes! I remember now! I sailed with him a time or two in the past. Stole from him once or twice also. Probably the reason why he hasn't had too many passengers."

The Stage- Sven

Erika’s left eyebrow quirked up a little at the mention of stealing from Captain Ha’shim. “Oh I see.” The musician said at Sven’s confession of theft from her (technically) current captain. “And I don’t suppose you happen to have a two inch tall jade statue of a woman? Captain Ha’shim was quite irate when it went missing as it was a gift from his wife. And it just so happens that he is still in port.” Erika rested one of her hands on her hip as she took on a serious expression with the small humanoid. “If it happens to find it’s way back into my possession, I will gladly suggest that I happened to find it in a deckside pawn shop.” She offered the small pixie a way out of the theft.

“As I would hate to let the good captain know that a confessed thief is in town. Last person he caught stealing from him ended up tied to the mast and whipped three times.” She tapped a finger against her cheek as she seemed to be pondering the memory. “Or was it seven times? Oh but the discomfort the poor sod was in… the Captain refused to let the chaplain take a look at the wounds and had the sawbones do the stitches instead. I'm not sure if more alcohol was used on the wounds or to ‘steady’ the doc’s hands.”

Erika made a tisking noise. “Surely you wouldn’t want to be in Captain Ha’shim’s ill graces. Especially when applying for a career when Ha’shim ship is two docks down from the Swift Vengence.”

Leaving her interview with the captain, Ħraan looks around the upstairs room as she stretches. Spotting a small gathering off to one side, she saunters over to the group and pulls up a chair
