Falon Posted February 21 Clone Share Posted February 21 (edited) Not sure how to change the title of the post, but it should read Conrad Frey, Half-Elf Warlock Vampire. Decided on a last minute change since I doub that I will have many more opportunities to play a vampire and it seems like it can be an interesting narrative. Character below. Falon Posted February 24 Author Clone Share Posted February 24 (edited) I'll steel Rayth's formating, seems more suited for the new forums. Hopefully he doesn't mind. Also, don't think I can play a low social skills character in a PbP game, so I'll make a last minute change (and hopefully make it for the deadline). Languages: Higher Bürach, Low Bürach, Elven, Thieves' Cant Proficiency Bonus +2 HISTORY The name of the man currently posing as Conrad Fray is Bertrand Vran - former squire to Count Brestov of the Bürach province of Unterlands. While lacking the strength of his peers, he quickly managed to distinguish himself among the rest and raise to the possition of standard bearer in the count's army. His promotion lasted less than a tenday though as the count's army, together with the men under the banners of his neighbouring lords, rose to lay a siege of the holding of the Bloody Baron of Ulstenburg - accused for being under the influence of the Beast... and for the much lesser crime of butchering one of his villages to the last man, woman and child. In the final battle of the siege, the Baron sallied out of his dark castle to mean his attackers head on and the blood of hundred soldiers turned the surrounding marshes red for a season. Bertrand witnessed in horrow how the red knight singlehandedly slaughtered half of his unit with an uncanny speed and savagery, but then he managed to find his courage and charge the frenzied knight with his standard as a makeshift spear. Bertrand had no idea if the dead gods smilled upon him that night, but just as the baron's sword halved the shaft of the standars like a mere stick - his armored foot slipped on the viscera of some unknown soldier and both men tumbled over the high fortification's ledge into the marsh below. Broken and bloodied, Bertrand watched in horror how the baron, after being unable to find his sword into the black marsh water, removed his helmed and brandish a set of bestly fangs. The red knight, seemingly unfazed from the fall, lunged into the young squire and ravaged his throat with bared teeth... only to find the broken shaft the Brestov banner between them and then deep into his chest. During that night, burried beneath the armored corpse of his enemy, Bertrand felt his life quickly slipping away from his body and would have dies in the water of the Ulstenburd march if his hand, shaking in final rigor mortis haven't found the hilt of the Baron's cursed sword Blackflame. Only the gods in their eternal slumber know that else happened that night, but Bertrand came from the marsh... changed. He spend the next few seasons runing from his past life as a frenzied cutthroat, feasting on the blood of his victims under the maddening urges of the sword, until Bertrand finally managed to gather the pieces of his shattered will and try to find some place under the sun (or hopefully under the shade) for his wretched existance by disposing and impersonating the envoy to one of the neighbouring lords. Conrad is currently posing as an envoy under Manfred's command, hoping to make some sense of his wretched unlife. The bloodless corpse of the real Conrad, envoy to the von Furstenberg family, rots somewhere in the sewers under the city. Over the past few months his impostor has proven quite invaluable part in bringing Mafred's machinations to a fruitful end so that his liege less and less often questions the newfound martial prowess or not quite so subtle changes in his envoy. Garland, promising young alchemist - Conrad's half-brother from the days before the young squire's ill-fated descent into darkness. The young alchemist is the only alive member of Conrad's family (latter included) after his father fell to the plague. Garland is well versed in the mystic art so that he is quite aware of his brother's condition and yet their relations have managed to overcome the fact that one of them lives and yet is not among the living. The alchemist is past his initial delusions that finding a cure for his brothers condition is even theoretically possible, but now is working on finding a way to help him better control his thirst. Abelinda, widowed seamstress - As a yound squire Conrad fell in love with the lowborn Abelinda, often seeking to catch a glimpse of her face among the busy city streets. Then she married to an aging merchant and his squire training took Conrad away from the city to the holdings of his liege. He returned years later, already under the shadow of his vampiric curse and after witnessing her husband almost beating Abelinda to death in a fit of drunken rage, the fledgling vampire disemboweled the old man and tossed his lifeless body through the window. Alas, at that very moment his sanguine thirst overpowered him and instead being the hero of her dreams, he beared his fangs and quenched the bloodlust in her neck. Only the screams of the passanged who found the body of her husband made him snap out of his feeding frenzy before it was too late and Conrad fled into the night, leaving her unconscious.
