Temple of the Sun

Founded by the sun-kissed the Temple of the Sun is rarely seen by outsiders to the upper crust. This is where the ruling counsel of the Sun-kissed sit and hold the functions required for governance. It is rumored that audiences are held for petitioners on grave matters to ensure proper judgement and decision making.

The Upper Crust

Sun Mines

The Sun mines are large interconnected masses that provide many of the lighter precious materials used in construction and magical enchantments. There are districts set up for the miners to separate them from the inhabitants of the upper crust so that the labor sourced from the lower crust doesn't mingle with them. These miners are well treated and the light minerals they are mining make the work less intensive than other mines. 

 

These mines mostly produce mithril, sun-kissed cloud stone and various high purity mana stones.

Illumian Pyres

The Illumian Pyres is the largest upper crust city constructed near the Temple of the Sun. The pyres of the Illumian pyres are tended to all hours of the day and claim to be sourced from the fire of the sun when the upper crust was first breached and the Skies Above accessed. The city sprawls from through the entire upper crust later - from the Trine Illume district below, which many consider its own city, to the Temple of the Sun above. Some spires poke above into the skies above a respectful distance from the Temple of the Sun for some wealthy noble's houses. 

 

Nobles and many aspirants flock to the Illumian Pyres and pay the outrages prices to live there with the hope they will become sun kissed.

The Skies Between

Trine Illume

Trine Illume is the center of power for the Skies Between, all of the governmental offices and services house their representatives and bureaucratic authority on one of the three masses that make up the Trine Illume. While the Temple of the Sun officially makes the decision and manages the government, the real work happens down in Trine. Each of the three masses houses its own branch of the government and their relevant support staff and other inhabitants. The Military, Economic and Social branches have less than friendly quarrels and spats on funding disagreements or mass rights and territory disputes. Each of the branches attempt to wrest more control from the others while the Sun-kissed make minimal effort to diffuse the tension. For the average citizen the three masses are mostly fair to live in, with rules and regulations only having minor impacts for the civilized races as the uncivilized races are generally banned from the Social's mass and only tolerated in the Military's mass.

Holstaed

Holstaed is the largest farming mass in the Skies between. The bread basket of the entire realm, it is set on the largest mass seen in the skies between and is purely dedicated to agriculture. A few subsidiary masses were relocated to provide housing and other required support functions but the majority of the farmers live on skyships and travel the mass to ensure the upkeep of the farms.

The Lower Crust

Scimmer's Rest

This mass is known for its notoriety, many tales of wonder and yarns of adventure start in Scimmer's Rest. To most inhabitants of the lower crust they know it as the wandering tavern mass, its eccentric owner bolted multiple skyships to the small chuck of cloud stone that makes up the body of the mass and drives it around the lower crust at his own leisure. 

Moon Mines

The Moon Mines are a large collection of masses that contain large quantities of the heavy materials that are used in industrial constructions and enchantments. These mines are barely checked over for safety and restrictive quotas based on material demands are set on the miners regardless of the actual contents of the masses being mined. Obsidian, Adamantine and gold are the main exporters from the mines.

Obsidian Bastile

The infamous prison of the realm is a daunting pure Obsidian mass carved into the shape of a fortress. Prisoners that are sent to the Bastile never return. The Mass hangs low in the lower crust, almost skimming the boundary into the skies below.

The Surface

Not much is known about the surface, other than it rumored to still being there, in the skies below somewhere. None of the immigrants from the skies below claim to have seen it and no one has been able to capture a dragon to find out.
