PROFICIENCIES & ABILITIES

 PROFICIENCIES

  • Tools Thieves' Tools, Disguise Kit
  • Weapons Simple weapons, hand crossbows, rapiers, longswords, shortswords
  • Armors Light

WIZARD CLASS ABILITIES
ExpertiseAt 1st level, choose two of your skill proficiencies, or one of your skill proficiencies and your proficiency with thieves' tools. Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make that uses either of the chosen proficiencies.

At 6th level, you can choose two more of your proficiencies (in skills or with thieves' tools) to gain this benefit.
 | Sneak AttackBeginning at 1st level, you know how to strike subtly and exploit a foe's distraction. Once per turn, you can deal an extra 1d6 damage to one creature you hit with an attack if you have advantage on the attack roll. The attack must use a finesse or a ranged weapon.

You don't need advantage on the attack roll if another enemy of the target is within 5 feet of it, that enemy isn't incapacitated, and you don't have disadvantage on the attack roll.

The amount of the extra damage increases as you gain levels in this class, as shown in the Sneak Attack column of the Rogue table.
 | Thieves' CantDuring your rogue training you learned thieves' cant, a secret mix of dialect, jargon, and code that allows you to hide messages in seemingly normal conversation. Only another creature that knows thieves' cant understands such messages. It takes four times longer to convey such a message than it does to speak the same idea plainly.

In addition, you understand a set of secret signs and symbols used to convey short, simple messages, such as whether an area is dangerous or the territory of a thieves' guild, whether loot is nearby, or whether the people in an area are easy marks or will provide a safe house for thieves on the run.

RACIAL TRAITS
DarkvisionAccustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray. | Draconic CryAs a bonus action, you let out a cry at your enemies within 10 feet of you. Until the start of your next turn, you and your allies have advantage on attack rolls against any of those enemies who could hear you. You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest. | Kobold Legacy: CraftinessYou have proficiency in one of the following skills of your choice: Arcana, Investigation, Medicine, Sleight of Hand, or Survival.

APPEARANCE

Age 23 | Height 3'10" | Weight 42 lbs. | Hair None| Eyes Yellow | Complexion Ash Grey

Long, pointed ears twitch at the sound of urbane laughter and overlapping conversation from upstairs. Sighing, Teshkar regards herself in her mirror. Her tribemates described her as attractive, praising her uniformly grey scales, highlighted by larger scutes that were cherry red. They also adored her bright yellow eyes. The humans commented on that, as well, comparing her to glowing embers in a dying fire. She started slipping on her livery over her body, with her torso bound in wraps. She supposed that was a point in her favor as well - she was one of the kobolds with a body shape that had a subtle hourglass curve that mammalian humanoids seemed to adore, but not to such an extent that she'd be regarded as a freak by her own kind. She'd even been flirted with or even propositioned by a few halflings and gnomes - ugh!

Her livery was decent, but not eye-catching. Good. Servants should be unnoticed unless they were requested. The same went for her "other job". Nothing fancy, but nothing hideous, either. If she could hide her reptilian features, so much the better. Though if the talk about sending her to the Stolen Lands was true, she might benefit from being the slightest bit flashier. But that was an issue she would address when it came up. In the meantime, she had a job to do. Taking a deep breath and grabbing a tray, she opened up the stairwell and stepped out into the hustle and bustle of high society.

BACKGROUND

BREVIC NOBLE: SURTOVA

You claim a tangential but legitimate connection to one of Brevoy’s noble families. If you aren’t human, you were adopted by one of Brevoy’s nobles or were perhaps a favored servant or even a childhood friend of a noble scion. Whatever the case, you’ve had a comfortable life, though still a far cry from the one your distant cousins or close associates know. An expedition into the storied Stolen Lands seems like just the test to see if you really are worthy of the “noble” title.

Your family is well known for their political agility and scheming nature. Your family motto is “Ours Is the Right.” You’re proficient with deception, persuasion, disguise kit, and you know one additional language of your choice.

  • Personality Traits: I attempt to be constantly unobtrusive in all situations.
  • Ideals: Obedience. Servitude to a greater power allows me to transcend my individual weakness (Lawful)
  • Bonds: As long as my tribe survives, anything I have done will be worth it.
  • Flaws: I'm not used to being the one that actually makes the political decisions. I have been sheltered from other viewpoints by House Surtova since I was a hatchling.

Background Feature: Politics Lore: The politics skill measures a kingdom’s embrace of civic life of all kinds, from deeply rooted local traditions to cosmopolitan cross-cultural connections. It also reflects the importance of the citizenry’s shared values, whether they are dedicated to freedom and justice or to more unsavory ethics. You may add your proficiency bonus to any ability check that has to do with politics. If already proficient in that skill then you gain advantage.

BACKSTORY

Politics and sausage have two things in common - seeing the process of making either puts most folks off their appetite, and sometimes they require a bit of knife work. On paper, Teshkar's tribe, the Ashscales, are extinct, wiped out by House Surtova except for Teshkar herself, who was raised as a well-mannered house servant and source of entertainment. In truth, the tribe is alive and well - and always ready to slip out under the cover of night to do whatever House Surtova bids. Teshkar is no stranger to this herself, having occasionally swapped out her livery and platter laden with fine wine for black leather and a dogslicer knife. She's framed folks for crimes they didn't commit, sabotaged businesses, stolen heirlooms, and even killed a few people with goblin weapons before setting their house on fire to cast blame on a nearby goblin tribe. In return, the Ashscales get to live safe and sound beneath the house estate, unconcerned with self-proclaimed adventurers or the risk of underground warfare with the likes of goblins.

However, it has come with a price. The tribe's ability to expand their tunnels is limited, and limiting their breeding is quite distasteful. The kobolds are at risk of an overpopulation crisis. So, this expedition to the Stolen Lands opens up an interesting possibility. Not only could House Surtova get a foot in the door with the rulership of the barony, they could also have it colonized with their loyal band of cronies. And Teshkar would be an ideal candidate for the expedition, given her skills with a knife. They are completely confident in Teshkar's loyalty, as they raised her from a hatchling, and she has never shown the slightest sign of rebellion, no matter how heinous or disagreeable the task assigned to her.

However, Teshkar has never spent more than a fortnight away from the house's watchful eye, and she's never had to make the decision to steal, burn, or murder for political gain. All this time, she's acted as a well-controlled servant, both in her public role and her secret duties. Will she be equally draconic when let loose upon the Stolen Lands in the company of others? Or will she start recognizing that tools will be disposed of once they are worn out, and decide to forge a new path?

Love it, a kobold that declares himself noble.  This would make a very interesting addition to a party.

We shall see if they can make it in. I expect we are going to have a lot of applications and I am looking at only 6 slots.

Good luck in final selection.
